SEQUENCES PODCAST no 268 Over the past month, we've been quite busy organising household storage following our return from Australia and assisting our daughter in relocating to a temporary rental while searching together for a permanent home. We encountered disappointment with one property we were close to purchasing due to serious issues discovered during the survey. Given the chaos, we had a limited time to compile a significant music collection for this month, adding more titles already scheduled for May. Thus, we opted to release two distinct editions of the electronic music genre together again. Introducing the feminine side, Japanese composer Ryo Utasato with a rich body of work that runs the gamut from electronica to ambient to world music to rock and beyond. Under her own name, Caroline McKenzie uses piano, synthesizers & her voice to make rather calming music, harboring from the worries of the day. Polly Fae’s new release’ Metamorphosis’ on Projeckt, an album laced with sensual vocals upon jagged, moody and somber electronics, balancing against an instrumental atmosphere of eerie calm. New York-born Berlin-based musician and filmmaker JJ Weihl, implementing drum machines vocoder, sound collage, theremin, and electric guitar, creating a small laboratory both in the studio and on stage. Various artists on Portals, featuring 13 tracks of Berlin school inspired electronic music from legends of synthesis like Steve Roach, Ian Boddy, and Steve Moore. With his second Galactic Underground album, Venja embarks on an epic journey through space and time, with guest musicians Erik Wollo & Michael Stearns. Hi everyone, join us on our first March edition with several new releases gracing the airways. On the Spotted Peccary label, the atmospheric music of Rudy Adrian and the masterful ambient textures of Darshan Ambient, Ann Grace’s seductive chill out sounds breathe life on a new 4 track EP and with the overwhelming success of Thomas Lemmer’s release Still, come two remix E.P’s. We welcome on board for their debut on Sequences, Project Divinity, merging acoustic soundscapes with electronic effects, the dark echoes of Grove Shadow and one of the youngest on the scene going under the name of Synthex, releasing his first album at the tender age of 14. You will find on our website, bio’s and photos of all the musicians on this edition. Finally two classic albums have been remastered, the musical score for the Ron Fricke film Chronos by Michael Stearns from1984 and the 80’s classic Paradise by Robert Schroeder, and considered by many fans to be one of his best albums.
