After the emotional and sometimes brutal New Beginning in Osaka, New Japan took a lighter-hearted turn this week with Fantasticamania, when the stars of CMLL come to Japan for a brief tour filled with their brand of exciting lucha libre. It's also a time for some New Japan stars to loosen up, with Taiji Ishimori, Hiromu Takahashi, El Desperado, Hiroshi Tanahashi and others getting in on the act. Steven and Jeremy discussed seeing CMLL's Mistico, Mascara Dorada, Atlantis Jr., ,Volador Jr., Titan, Ultimo Guerrero, Soberano Jr. and others. They also looked at the first night of the tour from Osaka, and how Volador and Rocky Romero set things up for a class later in the week. They looked at key matchups ahead, including a women's match featuring Starlight Kid and Ruaka from STARDOM. Plus, they talked about how others who have made news in New Japan, such as Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and more will have a huge match in Arena Mexico later this month as part of these major promotions working with one another.

They discussed the issues Ogawa had with Bushiroad (the same conglomerate that owns New Japan), and the dilemma STARDOM wrestlers face between staying with the country's top joshi promotion and joining Ogawa's upcoming new company. They also discussed what stars such as Tam Nakano, Maika and others have said about their futures, and what we know about the NJPW titleholders, Giulia and Mayu Iwatani. Steven and Jeremy previewed Sunday's big show in Osaka, featuring Kazuchika Okada versus Hiroshi Tanahashi, Zack Sabre Jr. versus Bryan Danielson, and a special War Games-style cage match with David Finaly's War Dogs meeting Will Ospreay's United Empire in Ospreay's final match as a New Japan wrestler. Steven and Jeremy broke down the New Beginning in Sapporo cards, talking about the Tetsuya Naito versus Shota Umino main event, a fantastic Jr. Heavyweight Title match pitting TJP and Francesco Akira against Douki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru and a Will Ospreay-Taichi match the paid tribute to Toshiaki Kawada versus Mitsuharu Misawa, one of the great rivalries in wrestling history. In a mostly quiet week for NJPW (other than FantasticaMania!), the guys open the show with a look at the NXT Takeover Liverpool show including differing thoughts on Balor/Devlin, plenty of praise for the tag match, future expectations for RIpley/Storm, and a very long main even that was saved by a large German man making his fantastic debut. Lucha Talk returns as always with the hombres talking a light week of news, but a great week of action with CMLL's Three Kings Day show living up to the hype as well as a true blue match of the year candidate in Tijuana that gets broken down in depth between Hechicero & Caifan. Lucha Underground returns as well with more goofy storylines and we still have no clue where Pentagón is and why Sexy Star keeps getting singles matches on the show and why the Técnicos seem to shoot themselves in the foot so much. That said, a light at the end of the tunnel comes in next week with the All Night Long announcement. In addition the FantasticaMania cards are ran down with some of our favorite matchups given. Plus Rayo de Jalisco Jr. is back in CMLL for some reason. Not to mention the BIG NEWS from the greatest promoter in pro wrestling history, as Lucha Memes dropped its announcement as promised and we have the reaction to it here. This week's episode revolves around much of the shows that took place this week, kicking off with the man of the hour and the upset of the year in CMLL as Valiente was crowned the Universal Champion. The Dia de Muertos shows and concept is analyzed, and the Trios tries to make sense of why Ultimo Guerrero gets after his meaningless main event win on Sunday. FantasticaMania lineups were announce and they're covered all the way. Moving on to Elite we saw one of their best overall episodes including an espectacular Trios match, and the shocking throwing down of his Volador Jr. Fanclub headband by one host, who aligns himself with Rey Escorpión, who gets much praise. AAA also has a surprisingly solid show this week that gets broken down in depth including Psycho Clown's "return" and smart angles to build up their Team Trump angle. Lucha Underground is ran down as always and no punches are pulled at the effort this week from Boyle Heights. All that and a roundtable discussion on the streaming services for wrestling and the effect and the role we think Lucha promotions will play coming off the news of RIOT getting picked up by powerbomb.tv as well as rumors of FloSlam looking into México for content, with big news seemingly on the horizon down the line that we look ahead and speculate on. #PorraReyEscorpión
