AEW es una empresa complicada de juzgar y medir. A veces no da una. A veces entrega maravillas.

Josh and Dave review an incredibly eventful New Japan Pro Wrestling show; covering all the big angles, stories, character movements and newsworthy announcements. The Wholesome Aussie Stiff Bois cover every match, giving every story its due consideration; including the future of the current crop of Young Bois, Aussie Open and TMDK's great match on the tour and the direction of the NJPW tag-team division, the Epic encounter between our one true King Taichi and the Blockbuster man himself Shingo, the BOSJ tournament and what the structure of the tour suggests, the ongoing LIG v J5G rivalry, where to for KENTA and how to for Hikuleo, Zack and Cobb extend the TMDK v United Empire story amidst the ‘straya of it all, Okada and Ishii have words so CHAOS can finally have a story (and this one involves Jon Moxley!!!), David Finlay does what he said he would and delivers us from Bullet Club and yet the world seems unmoved, and SANADA and Hiromu test out the new landscape before the Space Wolf of Yota Tsuji makes and impact and shakes it all up. Join the lads for a loaded show where they cover it all. Jeremy Finestone and Steven Conway are back with another episide of Speaking of Strong Style. Steven and Jeremy talked about the recent title matches in NJPW, how Kevin Knight was launched with KUSHIDA to junior heavyweight tag team gold, how Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls passed the torch to Aussie Open, how Hiromu Takahashi sold like a champ for a dramatic match against Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and how Taichi and Shingo Takagi put on a clinic in building drama in their KOPW match. Jeremy and Steven also talked Kazuchika Okada, and the rough waters ahead for the former champion. Will he turn on his partners at Dontaku? Or will one of them walk out on him? The pair looked at those possibilities in their preview of Dontaku, which included the big IWGP title match between SANADA and Hiromu, whether Davied Finlay should win the NEVER Openweight title, Zack Sabre Jr. versus Jeff Cobb for the TV title. They also looked ahead to Resurgence, and how Jon Moxley has been added to a show that already had Will Ospreay and Hiroshi Tanahashi on the marquee, plus a tournament to establish yet another title. They also discussed why Willow Nightingale might be a better pick than Mercedes Mone for this belt. It's all you need to know about New Japan in one show!
Josh and Dave review and preview and event filled Wrestling Dontaku tour. By running through the Dontaku line-up, the wholesome Stiff Bois are able to break down the key match ups on the Road To so far, including Hiromu v Uncle Nobu, Jetsetters v Catch 2/2, Aussie Open v TMDK and Shingo v Taichi, plus, go in-depth in previewing the BOSJ participants and block line ups, before exploring the stories headed into the main Dontaku Card; with a special focus on Bullet Club drama and how Finlay can help NJPW find their way out from under the Clubs unwieldy shadow. There's a fair few predictions that could open the Bois up to some ridicule in this one, as the conspiracy booking makes way for some less solid predictions. With Dontaku well and truly explored, the lads finish with a discussion of Stardom's Grand Queendom event, discussing some key matches and players, as they go ‘gal' searching, only to then contemplate the impact of Mercedes run with IWGP belt and what her presence on Strong, and the development of a Strong women's division, signals for the future of all parties. A massive show that we hope will have you as excited as we all are to enjoy Wrestling Dontaku. It's Monday Night and You Know What That Means........Another Episode of your favorite wrestling podcast The gang is joined by NWA, Idolmania Sports Management & Gold Rush member Marshe Rockett. Lots of topics are discussed, from being in the NWA, how he ended up in Impact, the heartbreak of a WWE Tryout, being a member of the greatest faction in wrestling, 2022 goals and much more. Its a great interview with a great dude. Check it out Tony is back after a quick break, and the boys talk about the strange Sasha Banks/Naomi situation. We weigh in on the topic based on what we have read in the media, and try and get a grasp on it. It's a really wild situation. Tokyo Boogie-Woogie: Japan's Pop Era and its Discontents (Harvard University Press, 2017) by Hiromu Nagahara is the first English-language history of the origins and impact of the Japanese pop music industry. The book connects the rise of mass entertainment, epitomized by ryūkōka (“popular songs”), with Japan's transformation into a middle-class society in the years after World War II. With the arrival of major international recording companies like Columbia and Victor in the 1920s, Japan's pop music scene soon grew into a full-fledged culture industry that reached out to an avid consumer base through radio, cinema, and other media. The stream of songs that poured forth over the next four decades represented something new in the nation's cultural landscape. Emerging during some of the most volatile decades in Japan's history, popular songs struck a deep chord in Japanese society, gaining a devoted following but also galvanizing a vociferous band of opponents. A range of critics—intellectuals, journalists, government officials, self-appointed arbiters of taste—engaged in contentious debates on the merits of pop music. Many regarded it as a scandal, evidence of an increasingly debased and Americanized culture. For others, popular songs represented liberation from the oppressive political climate of the war years. Tokyo Boogie-Woogie is a tale of competing cultural dynamics coming to a head just as Japan's traditionally hierarchical society was shifting toward middle-class democracy. The pop soundscape of these years became the audible symbol of changing times. Hiromu Nagahara is an associate professor of history at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Shatrunjay Mall is a PhD candidate at the Department of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He works on transnational Asian history, and his dissertation explores intellectual, political, and cultural intersections and affinities that emerged between Indian anti-colonialism and imperial Japan in the twentieth century. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Thursday, February 11, 2021. A special welcome to those of you listening on TheWrestlingRevolution.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. Results from AEW Dynamite, MLW Fusion and Wednesday's New Japan show are straight ahead in this update but first… (STINGER: WWE) Let's get into last night's NXT - the final stop before Sunday's TakeOver: Vengeance Day show. We all knew this was a possibility when we reported on Austin Theory's Twitter video about Johnny Gargano being out of Sunday's TakeOver. Gargano showed up on last night's NXT in a wheelchair, while claiming to have a broken arm. Kushida exposed that this was all a lie. It's a miracle! Gargano's North American Title defense against Kushida is still on for TakeOver. Kushida later beat Theory via disqualification. Gargano and Theory tried to beat up Kushida after the match, but they were foiled by Dexter Lumis. The finals in both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments are now set for TakeOver. It'll be MSK vs. the Grizzled Young Veterans in the men's final. Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon will face Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez in the women's final. NXT GM William Regal announced the winner of the women's Dusty Classic will get a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships - currently held by Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. It was a rough night for Legado del Fantasmo. Not only did Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza lose to MSK in the Dusty Classic semifinals...they were laid out backstage by Karrion Kross. Kross has a match against Santos Escobar on next week's NXT. Cameron Grimes returned to NXT...driving a Lamborghini...and making it rain in the Capital Wrestling Center. Grimes says he GOT RICH during his absence...by buying GameStop stock...and apparently cashing out before the bottom fell out. Meiko Satomura makes her NXT UK debut on today's episode. We're also getting a Street Fight - The Hunt vs. Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. (STINGER: AEW) A big shakeup for the Inner Circle. Sammy Guervara QUIT the group on last night's Dynamite. He delivered the news to Chris Jericho in the ring. After a backstage incident earlier in the night, where Sammy caught MJF trying to blackmail him, and laid him out. The main event of last night's Dynamite was as wild as many expected. The Falls Count Anywhere match between Kenny Omega and KENTA...and Jon Moxley and Lance Archer...spilled out of the ringside area and into the Daily's Place kitchen at one point. The end saw the Good Brothers interfere and help Omega put Archer down with the One Winged Angel for the pin. KENTA hit another GO 2 Sleep on Mox, who carried the IWGP United States Championship with him to the ring. Thunder Rosa beat LEGIT Leyla Hirsch in the first match in the Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament. AEW unveiled all the full bracket and slate of first round matches earlier in the day. First round matches from the Japan side of the bracket will be broadcast on AEW's YouTube channel on Monday starting at 7PM. Next week's Dynamite will have the first round match between Riho and Serena Deeb. Darby Allin beat Joey Janela to retain his TNT Championship. Later, Allin was shown stuffed in a body bag by Team Taz and then dragged behind their SUV. Cody Rhodes and Lee Johnson beat PRETTY Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi after Johnson pinned Avalon. That snapped Johnson's 0-29 record in AEW, and Tony Khan later tweeted that Johnosn is now officially signed with AEW. Matt Hardy and Hangman Page went to a bar, where Hardy convinced Page to sign a contract for something. Next Wednesday's Dynamite will have the Young Bucks defending their tag titles against Santana and Ortiz. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan wrapping up its “New Beginning” show this morning with a big main event - Kota Ibushi defending the double gold against Sanada. There's also some changes to Thursday's card - including Hiromu Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI now facing El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Yujiro Takahashi. Hiromu retained his junior heavyweight title against SHO in the main event of Wednesday's “New Beginning” show. After the match, El Phantasmo laid down a challenge for the junior title. But Hiromu said he won't accept unless he and BUSHI get a shot at the junior tag titles held by ELP and Ishimori. There was a wild finish to the IWGP tag title match on Wednesday's show. Taichi regained his stolen “Iron Finger Of Doom” but got disqualified when he used it against the Guerrillas Of Destiny. Pro-Wrestling NOAH is putting on one of its biggest shows in a while on Friday - returning to famed Budokan Hall for the first time in years. The main event is a battle of legendary names. Go Shiozaki - whose revival was one of 2020's biggest success stories - defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship against the 58-year-old Keiji Mutoh. The undercard has another big name, Jun Akiyama, returning to NOAH after his stint in All Japan. Lio Rush defeated Laredo Kid on Wednesday's MLW Fusion to win the AAA Cruiserweight Title. Rush already holds the MLW Middleweight Title. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Thursday, February 11. Our next update comes your way tomorrow morning, so be sure to subscribe to this feed. In this episode, Dr. Hiromu Nagahara (MIT) charts the popular music of the Meiji, Taishō, and Shōwa eras, noting the politics of music and sounding the potential of songs to voice popular discontent. We discuss the formation of national music in the Meiji Period, the spread of protest tunes in the Popular Rights Movement, the lingering popularity of wartime propaganda anthems, and the counterculture sentiments of postwar jazz standards and Enka ballads.
