Acefield Retro & Chad are your hosts for Episode 115 of Wrestling Tonight, breaking down an eventful week in pro wrestling that reshaped the landscape across AEW, WWE, and beyond. AEW Revolution delivered a night filled with high-stakes matches, career-defining performances, and major title implications. Jon Moxley retained his AEW World Championship in a hard-fought battle, but the night truly belonged to Toni Storm and Mariah May. Their Falls Count Anywhere match, billed as The Hollywood Ending, lived up to its name—an emotional, brutal, and visually stunning war that left the AEW Women's Division forever changed. Kenny Omega, in only his fourth match back from injury, reclaimed gold in a must-see battle with Konosuke Takeshita, while Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher turned their deeply personal rivalry into an all-time great steel cage match. Swerve Strickland cemented himself as the next World Title challenger after a grueling victory over Ricochet, setting the stage for what could be AEW's next marquee feud. The fallout from Revolution will no doubt define the company's direction in the months ahead. Meanwhile, WWE saw multiple title changes and a dramatic escalation on the road to WrestleMania 41. IYO SKY ended Rhea Ripley's dominant reign to capture the WWE Women's World Championship in a result that stunned fans. LA Knight recaptured the United States Title in a hard-hitting rematch against Shinsuke Nakamura, while Shawn Spears shocked NXT by seizing the North American Championship from Tony D'Angelo, taking advantage of a lingering injury. But the most talked-about moment came at Elimination Chamber, where John Cena's long-teased heel turn became reality. After aligning with The Rock, Cena left Cody Rhodes battered and bloodied in a post-match attack—but it was rapper Travis Scott who delivered the most unexpected blow. A stiff slap to Rhodes ruptured his eardrum, raising questions about whether Cody will be at full strength heading into his WrestleMania 41 title defense. Over on SmackDown, another long-running mystery was finally solved. Jade Cargill made her return and confronted Naomi, revealing her as the one who had attacked her months ago. With the truth finally out, Jade wasted no time in seeking revenge, setting the stage for an intensely personal showdown in the near future. Elsewhere, the WrestleMania 41 build continues to take shape. CM Punk and Seth Rollins are set to collide in a steel cage match, The Rock's presence looms large over the title picture, and AJ Styles is ready to call out Logan Paul in what promises to be a heated confrontation at Madison Square Garden. Beyond WWE and AEW, the wrestling world remains in motion. TNA is making moves with the return of Chavo Guerrero Jr., the exit of Alex Hammerstone, and Eddie & Alisha Edwards committing to long-term deals. Cora Jade is set to challenge Masha Slamovich for the Knockouts Title at Sacrifice, while NJPW's championship landscape continues to evolve with Yuji Nagata stepping into a rare IWGP World Heavyweight Title match. Meanwhile, Zack Sabre Jr. is gearing up for a loaded WrestleMania weekend schedule, making multiple high-profile GCW appearances. And as for Travis Scott—was Elimination Chamber a one-off cameo, or is WWE positioning him for something bigger? His unexpected role in Cody Rhodes' brutal beatdown has sparked speculation that his involvement in WWE may not be over just yet. With AEW's Revolution reshaping the company's landscape, WWE's WrestleMania build reaching new levels of intensity, and TNA and NJPW making key moves, this is a week packed with major developments. Jeremy Finestone and Steven Conway looked at the 2023 World Tag League Finals and discussed New Japan's decision to make Bishamon into a Superteam. They discussed how Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI's win over El Phantasmo and Hikuleo is a signal the company wants to build the tag team division around its most consistent team and make it a Mount Everest for the rest of the teams to climb. They broke down the semifinals and finals shows, covering angles involving Ren Narita, Shota Umino, Minoru Suzuki, Yuji Nagata, Yuya Uemura, Yota Tsuji and more. The also kicked around ideas on what they could do with these angles as WrestleKingdom draws near. Jeremy and Steven also looked ahead to the Road to WrestleKingdom shows and looked back on the career of Osamu Kido and Tetsuya Naito's critical match with Kazuchika Okada at WrestleKingdom 8, and why it was so important to both his and New Japan's history. The trio discussed the matches announced and did some supposing on what other matches might come up in the coming days leading up to the Pay-Per-View. They talked about possible scenarios for Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay, why Bryan Danielson versus Kazuchika Okada is the dream match of dream matches, why SANADA versus Jungle Boy Jack Perry could be a career-changer, and what Hiroshi Tanahashi and MJF means to the wrestlers involved. They also talked about the recent Road to Strong shows, setting up two very interesting cards at Korakuen Hall, in early July, Jun Kasai bringing his brand of mayhem to an NJPW ring, plus an ageless Yuji Nagata main event in Chiba. They also talked about how Hiromu Takahashi guilted Shingo Takagi into being in his corner. Jeremy, Steven and Kevin also shared their thoughts on this era of promotional cooperation, and why it's healthy for everyone. It's a great discussion for any New Japan fan!

Danny and Adam review the following matches:Fuerza Guerrera vs Octagon (CMLL - 11/1/1991)Finlay vs Chris Benoit (WWE Judgment Day - 5/21/2006)Toshiaki Kawada & Masa Fuchi vs Yuji Nagata & Takashi Iizuka (NJPW - 12/14/2000)Steiner Brothers vs Fujinami & Iizuka (WCW - 5/17/1992)I am going to put a content warning for the Benoit stuff because we do get into the para social stuff probably for the only time. We set the precedent for how we are going to look at certain wrestlers that aren't accepted in today's landscape. It's nothing that should be controversial but we do take this from a list we did not make.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/social-suplex-podcast-network/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Phil is joined by pro wrestler and ex-UFC fighter Filthy Tom Lawlor to talk about Kazunari Murakami vs. Yuji Nagata from New Japan December 2002. We talk about the beauty of simplistic wrestling, who hit Tom the hardest in the ring, and overlaps between MMA and pro-wrestling.
This week on Wrestling Omakase we take our third completely randomized look back at shows that took place inside the Big Egg, the Tokyo Dome!John is joined by returning guest & VOW contributor Jeri Evagood (@TheJerriest_Jer) for her record TENTH appearance of the year! Wow! John crowns her MVP (Most Valuable Podcaster) before they get into what they've both been up to, including Christmas, worrying about Omicron cancelling their plans, and a whole lot more. Plus there's some discussion of Jeri's semi-recent Atlantic City trip, and John's pre-emptive year end thoughts ahead of next week's 2021 Year End Awards episode. Once that's out of the way they get into their topic, which is six randomly selected matches from six randomly selected Tokyo Dome shows (all Dome shows were eligible, not just 1/4 and not just NJPW). As always, stop reading here if you want to be surprised, but if you'd like to know beforehand here they are below:1. Great Muta vs. Masahiro Chono, NJPW 1/4/93 (NJPW World: https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00114_1_7)2. Riki Choshu & Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Kengo Kimura & Tatsutoshi Goto, NJPW 1/4/95 (NJPW World: https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00132_1_9)3. Randy Savage vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, NJPW 4/29/96 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYbamFhKl-g)4. Yuji Nagata vs. Yoshihiro Takayama, NJPW 5/2/02 (NJPW World: https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00160_1_2 or https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00160_2_2)5. Heat vs. Tiger Mask, NJPW 1/4/05 (NJPW World: https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00165_1_3)6. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Go Shiozaki, NJPW 1/4/10 (NJPW World: https://front.njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00174_1_8)Topics that come up along the way include: since we did get all NJPW this time John gives some background on the promotion's very turbulent history as we go through the years here, Chono's bizarre clean-cut years, Muta nearly commits a random murder, a little background on both Heisei Ishingun and Yatsu's very strange career journey to this point, a boring match with not much to talk about, how the hell did we get Savage vs. Tenzan again, Savage at least puts in some effort this time, Takayama on the verge of breaking out as a megastar, Yuji Nagata FUCKING OWNS, Minoru Tanaka's bizarre videogame gimmick, EVIL HEAT, Love & Energy forever, a damn great match to close things out, and much more!Follow Wrestling Omakase on Twitter to submit questions for future episodes and get alerts every time new episodes go up- @wrestleomakase!Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
