Today, a member of our "Legacy Club," who are daughters of widows and thus daughters without fathers, have communicated to Modern Widows Club their aversion to being labeled as "Fatherless Daughters." They do have fathers, and their memory stays alive through them. They prefer to be seen as architects of their own legacy of love, as a way to honor their fathers. Heather Price, daughter of Cindy Price (an MWC member), from Orlando, FL, is with us on the HWHW podcast. Heather recounts her experience and where she was at the time of her father, James Price's, passing while he and her mom were in Costa Rica on vacation.  Essential Highlights: Reflecting on the cherished, remarkable memories between her and her father. Inquiring about what aspects of her father she misses the most. Understanding the type of support she was provided. How did she respond? What worked? What could have been done differently?  Because she attended the MWC 2023 Widow Empowerment Event in St. Louis, MO with her mom, how did this program benefit her and meeting other daughters?  Changes between the mother daughter relationship after loss. Exploring the reasons behind her decision to become a daughter who now gives financially as a recurring donor at Modern Widows Club. Listening to Heather discuss the significance of creating a legacy in honor of her father's memory.  We deeply appreciate Heather's willingness to share her experiences of personal loss as a daughter with such vulnerability. At Modern Widows Club, we are committed to supporting daughters and their mothers, knowing that the next generation of adult women will be better informed and more knowledgeable about widowhood. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide this support.

Today's episode is a lifeline to a special audience: Fatherless Daughters. As many celebrate the men who have played a phenomenal role in their existence and who they've come to be, we hold space for those women who may not share such sentiments and experiences. In a rare occurrence, Hannah pulls back the curtain and shares with listeners her journey as a fatherless daughter. As she tells her story, she concludes episode 32 with 3 life-giving steps that other fatherless daughters can consider as they work toward processing, healing, and moving forward in their stories. Something good can still come out of your story! In this episode: - The far reaching impact of fatherlessness in the United States and on girls and women - Hannah's journey from pain, confusion, and resentment toward her father, to restoration, acceptance, and forgiveness - Forgiving when the other person can't or won't take accountability - Bondage, Rejection, and the Spirit of Adoption - When elevating our parents becomes toxic - Leaning into to our Heavenly Father and how we can trust Him - How Hannah's painful relationship with her father paved the way for a new and unexpected relationship and more. The term 'Daddy issues' is thrown around lightly but it really does have a seriously negative impact on your romantic relationships. My guest Danielle Robins, who is a certified coach and the founder of Be You Unlimited, works specifically with women who are experiencing a father wound. That includes any woman who has grown up with an absent or available / unattached father and experiencing what is called 'the fatherless daughter syndrome'.Her passion to work and specialise in this area was driven from her own personal wounds that needed healing - Danni grew up with with a physical father who was emotionally unavailable, abusive, dysfunctional and now absent. We discuss how the fatherless daughter syndrome can show up with a full range of emotions and characteristics like low self worth, low confidence, trust issues, anger, resentment, unhealthy boundaries, promiscuity, unhealthy drive to succeed or toxic relationships. Danielle transforms the pain from the past into a gift in the present and coaches women to build healthy boundaries at home and at work and become unlimited. Gaining more confidence is something we can all do, so developing more awareness about our childhood wounds is the best place to start.Discussed in this episode:Danielle speaks honestly about how her father's absence impacted her and led her to numbing in order to cope with her emotions (2:00)How Investing in a coach changed her life and became her calling to help others in the same position (5:50)What is a fatherless daughter and what are the common traits of behaviour (7:35)Co-Dependency - relying on your partner for your happiness or to save, fix and heal you (12:35)The fear of facing your past traumas and admitting your childhood wasn't perfect (14:30)How resentment and guilt can be shifted into empathy (18:00)Danielle's relationships transformed from hysteria in the past, to a place of better communication. As a Relationship Engagement Strategist and your favorite Fear Investigator, she creates safe spaces for fatherless daughters to learn, grow and heal. Her safe spaces include the Healing Elevates Relationships Podcast where she is redefining how the world views women with daddy issues; H.E.R Coalition, her private FB community and H.E.R Way Relationship Intensive, her private coaching program. To learn more about Bernadette's story and how she can help, visit her website at bernadettejackson.com or follow her on IG @bernadettenjackson   One thing that stuck out – What Fatherlessness actually is: A Fatherlessness is a spectrum. One end is a father who has never been there and the other end is a father who has been there and has been intentional.  In between are fathers who were inconsistent, fathers who present sometimes/ part-time, or fathers who were not emotionally present.   Characteristics Fatherless Daughters Tend to Display: Constantly seeking validation Desire to control everything around you Issues with intimacy Problems being vulnerable Fear of abandonment or rejection Fierce loyalty to family/ friends Overextend yourself in your relationships with others Caretaker to your friends Mothering your significant other  Compatibility vs Capacity – 43:59 Final Comments from Bernadette: Your father loss happened to you but was not because of you. You deserve amazing relationships. Nothing you've experienced and no person who could not see that disqualifies you from what you truly deserve. Losing her father can impede a girl's emotional and relational development – that's tough to overcome. At this moment, tens of millions of fatherless daughters of all ages are struggling to step out of the stigma of being fatherless and start moving toward self-survival and success. "Fatherlessness is a journey," says Deena Babul, RN, and co-founder of the Fatherless Daughter Project. "It's not something you're supposed to get over. The pain of losing one's father tends to go underground, and it really doesn't resurface until the fear of abandonment (gets triggered)." Annie, a fatherless daughter herself, talks with Deena about how the loss of a father can affect a girl (physically, emotionally, spiritually) and how to journey through it. About Deena Babul (@FDPrjct‏) Denna D. Babul, RN, life coach, motivational speaker, author, medical expert, and co-founder (with Karin Luise) of the Fatherless Daughter Project. After becoming a fatherless daughter at the age of 13, Denna felt called to be the voice for fatherless daughters. She has created a community and support system for fellow fatherless women of all ages as their voice, coach, and mentor. She helps fatherless daughters reconcile their pasts in order to find their life's purpose. Along with Karin Luise, PhD, Denna is the award-winning author of The Fatherless Daughter Project: Understanding Our Losses and Reclaiming Our Lives. As a fatherless daughter, Candice Ragland’s interpretation of life is a lot different from daughters with fathers in their home. From her experiences that she has put into her book, Invisible Dad, she has come to learn that an incomplete image is what you constantly feel when you see fathers on television, in the grocery store, and on social media. And no matter how much you try to voice your feelings, you steadily are sucked into life’s woes. Calling herself a journeyist, her goal is to help fatherless daughters on their journey back to God. As a woman full of determination, Candice continues to make great strides in her life. Candice believes, “Perfection is the perfect way for you to mentally escape. Ultimately, you never deal with the trials of your childhood, leaving you to grow into a person that lacks confidence in your emotional voice.” Because Candice has been able to turn her life around, she will for you, too. In her book you’ll find the strength to: let go of a dead illusion to receive the richness of God’s beauty; release control of a perfect picture and relinquish judgment; conquer the road to restoration; live in your own truth; and much more! Join Candice as she takes you on her journey of coming face-to-face with being a fatherless daughter, to living an amazing life filled with healing and wholeness. Visit www.invisibledadjourney.com!
