Let Me Be Frank | Bishop Frank Caggiano's Podcast | Diocese of Bridgeport, CT
Pope St John Paul II wrote that hearing the kerygma proclaimed should result in a person being “overwhelmed and brought to the decision to entrust himself to Jesus Christ by faith”. Fr John Riccardo wonders… have you been “overwhelmed” by the Gospel? Have made a decision to “entrust,” your whole life to Jesus? Bishop Frank Caggiano talks to Fr John Riccardo, founder of Acts XXIX & the Rescue Project, on this episode of Let Me Be Frank. This is an incredibly insightful conversation with concrete ideas about how to bring healing and transformation to ourselves and to the organizations/parishes/dioceses we are a part of.
Dr. Tom Curran shares insights from a previous Q & A interview session with Fr. John Riccardo and airs the final talk in his series on the Holy Spirit.

Do you find it hard to maintain enthusiasm for evangelization? You're not alone. Many of us in ministry face moments of profound fatigue and discouragement. But let me share something with you: the key to reigniting that passion lies in rediscovering the love and hope gifted by God which first called us to this mission. Today, I bring you the wisdom of Fr. John Riccardo, founder of Acts XXIX (https://www.actsxxix.org/) and The Rescue Project (https://rescueproject.us/). He discusses how to: * Create intimate environments where the gospel can come alive. * Turn prayer into more than an agenda item, listening for God's direction. * Build a family out of those on mission with you * Restore hope, unity, and zeal to tired laborers in the vineyard Yes, the challenges are real, but so is the power of God's plan. Lean into that, and you'll find your enthusiasm renewed and your mission reinvigorated. Do you ever feel imprisoned by sin? Throughout the Old Testament, the Israelites underwent captivity on multiple occasions, enduring a 70-year exile. In an insightful conversation, Fr. John Riccardo joins Jeff Cavins to delve into this period of Exile as depicted in the Bible Timeline. Beyond merely exploring historical events, they draw parallels to contemporary experiences of feeling imprisoned or alienated. Fr. Riccardo argues that individuals today face something even more insidious than exile—being held captive by the power of sin. Fr. Riccardo and Jeff dissect the root causes underlying this spiritual captivity and offer pathways toward liberation from sin's grasp. Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish welcomed Abbot Jeremy Driscoll, O.S.B. on the weekend of February 23-25 as he led the 2018 Parish Mission titled The Mass: Supreme Encounter with God in Jesus. Fr. Driscoll serves as abbot of the Mount Angel Abbey in Saint Benedict, Oregon. Abbot Jeremy has taught theology at the Mount Angel Seminary and the Pontifical University of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome. His publications include What Happens at Mass, a vivid exploration of our ritual words, signs, and actions, that help the reader come to a better understanding of the Mass as an encounter with Jesus Christ. As the parish mission continued on Saturday morning, Fr. Riccardo preached at the morning Mass telling the congregation that only God can conform our hearts to His heart so that we may even love those who have hurt us.
