Qurratulain Hyder could weave a story in a manner that was quick in its pace and yet lingering in its mood. Her characters, often from urban backgrounds, live lives riddled with irony, while Qurratulain Hyder narrates their story with sardonic humour.One of the sharpest minds of her times, she spread her wings wide in the literary skies- she wrote for newspapers, short stories, memoirs and that magnificent historical novel, Aag Ka Dariya ( that she later translated into English herself as River of Fire)- a novel that encompasses the fates of four recurring characters over two and a half millennia. Let's listen today to a story that well illustrates her sparkling skills as a storyteller par excellence! -----About this channel: On this Youtube channel, you can listen to Hindi and Urdu Stories by famous writers of Hindi sahitya/ literature. Send us a textApni Apni Bimari by Harishankar Parsai masterfully explores the nuanced landscape of human suffering through the lens of satire. This story unveils the peculiar and often ironic hierarchies of problems people face in life—from those who lament their financial hardships over taxes while living comfortably, to those who struggle for basic needs, and the inescapable burden of small-scale troubles that seem monumental to those bearing them. Parsai's storytelling highlights the relativity of pain and how one's perspective shapes their sense of struggle. Join us as we delve into this comedic yet poignant narrative that examines how people cling to their unique "illnesses" while yearning for greater struggles that symbolize status and privilege. The result is an insightful, relatable portrayal that sparks both laughter and reflection on the human condition.Performed by Vikas DhurkaSupport the showSubscribe to Naatak Radio on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Jio Saavn or wherever you get your podcasts. We carry with us stories of people with whom we crossed paths years, sometimes decades ago. Some are inspiring stories and others, a cautionary tale. Hariram is the kind of unforgettable character we all have known or heard about. He lived a life of greed and misfortune and died an unremarkable death- only to be remembered by a young boy who saw Hariram as the beneficiary of his mother's simple act of kindness. ------- Contact me: Instagram: @arti_storyjam Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/StoryjamArti Club House : @artijain ------- Meet me at these Social Media links: Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/StoryjamArti My podcast on other platforms: Spotify open.spotify.com/show/0rG7ez0Pku1MuWhfvo6Dtz Apple Podcasts podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/storyjam-hindi-urdu-audio-stories/id1513845846 Gaana.com gaana.com/podcast/storyjam-hindi-urdu-audio-stories-season-1 RadioPublic radiopublic.com/storyjam-GmywpN Pocket Casts pca.st/rwdymlsd Overcast overcast.fm/itu #Hindi #StoryJam #hindikavita #hindipoetry #poetry #Urdupoetry ---------- About this channel: On this podcast channel, you can listen to Hindi and Urdu Stories by famous writers of Hindi sahitya/ literature. What would two great writers from history talk about if they were to meet? We may not find that out, but when one translates the works of the other, what is evident is a sense of common concern, a shared worldview and a hat tip to the greatness of the other. When Premchand translated works of Leo Tolstoy, he didn't just use his vast and rich vocabulary to retell the great Russian's work in Hindustani, he took the story and drew its essence in a way that the story became Indian. Incidentally, if you listen carefully you'll recognize another work or two that may have been inspired by the original. Do let me know if you do! ----- About this channel: On this Youtube channel, you can listen to Hindi and Urdu Stories by famous writers of Hindi sahitya/ literature. Love, by any other name would be just as controversial…at least in India. Here's Parsai ji's take on “love marriage”- that much desired “happy ending” on the big screen and that much hush-hushed occurrence in real world of the GIS (Great Indian Samaaj) You may think it, but Parsai ji will say it out loud…and put it on paper! He never shirked from calling a spade a spade. It is however the misfortune of us as a society that his commentary remains as relevant today as it was when he was writing it. #Hindi #HindiWriter #HindiSahitya #Vyang #Satire #StoryJam #audiostory #HindiPodcast #Podcast --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/storyjam/message
Kitaban Ne Patteya Tenu (Satire) II Writer - Harishankar Parsai II Voice - Aman
We all like to root for the underdog- in movies! In real life it gets a little complicated and awkward, like it does for the narrator in Agyeya's story. Will all that pent up justified anger lead to a free-for-all, or will it go flat after a while, like soapsuds? --------------------------------- Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan, better known by his nom de plume Agyeya, held a prominent presence in the world of Hindi literature. It is widely believed that he brought experimentalism to Hindi poetry. Though long before he was known for his poetry, he had started writing short stories and novels. As a young man he contributed to a magazine edited by Munshi Premchand. In fact there is an interesting anecdote about his pen name, Agyeya. As a freedom fighter young Sachchidanand was imprisoned. While in jail he used to send his short stories to well known writer, Jainendra. Since his name could not be used, Jainendra passed on his articles to Munshi Premchand saying that the writer's name was ‘Agyeya' meaning unknowable. --------------------------------- On my channel you can listen to Hindi and Urdu Stories by famous writers of Hindi sahitya/ literature. Here you will find stories and poetry by great authors of Hindi and Urdu. Some of these are classics and others are rare gems that you may never have heard or read. There are works by well known writers such as Premchand, Sharat Chandra, Manto, Ismat Chughtai, Mohan Rakesh, Phanishwar Nath Renu, Mannu Bhandari, Harishankar Parsai. Writer: Harishankar Parsi Sound Design: Gaurav Puri Voice: Vipul Jaiswal --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/suno-kahani/message

Please share our episodes to help us reach out to more audience like you.
