Back in late August, our gal Nycki Pace had major neck surgery.She's been plagued with chronic pain and numbness for 20 plus years. And over the last couple of years, it really started ramping up...so Nycki finally decided enough was enough and she went under the knife...two surgeries going in through the front and back of her neck...and FINALLY, after two successful surgeries and weeks and weeks of rest and rehab, SHE'S BACK!!!!So many thanks to those who filled in while she was out...Holly Starr, Ryan Westward, Nycki's husband Mike Kennedy....and...Bob...we couldn't have done it without them!!!

Was that coach Jefferson by his side? What was he doing here? And what was wrong with Aidan? Panic wedged in Evelyn's throat, she ignored the judges and pushed her way through the small crowd of congratulators and ran over to where Aidan had gone. “Aidan, Aidan what's the matter?” Evelyn cried desperately trying to catch her breath. She kneeled down in front of him grabbing his hand as he slumped into the bench and rested his head back against the wall. “He seems to be having a reaction to something.” She heard a male voice answer behind her. “He doesn't look good,” Said another and Evelyn felt her heart stop. “He's taken drugs and he's reacted.” She heard the man saying. “But that's not possible.” She recognised Coach Jefferson's incredulous voice as he grabbed Aidan's face and gently slapped it. “He's an exceptional young man, responsible and sensible he would never do something like this.” Aidan half opened his eyes, looking around and trying to focus. “What did you take son?” She heard coach ask. “Evie,” he whispered half out of breath. “Evie gave it to me.” He finished before losing focus again and dropping his head back.... She meet Stanton's steady gaze and tried to deny it, but it was useless. Defeated she nodded. She was afraid he would drop her training if she wasn't up to shape. “You know,” Stanton's voice lowered as he took a seat next to her. She wriggled her nose at the scent of his musky cologne.  “You should be taking something to help you if you're feeling that exhausted. What do you take at the moment?” “I eat pretty healthy actually and take vitamin B and magnesium.” “Hmmm, well you should consider taking something stronger. Something that will enhance your performance and make you win!” Evelyn glanced at him and frowned, “Yeah I guess.” She was almost too exhausted to care at that moment and really felt that she needed the break....... How could this very handsome, fit and charming man be the one she was meant to stay away from? There had to be a mistake. She shook his extended hand and managed to squeak out a ‘hi.' “Is there anything I can do to help you?” He began, “I've just finished up for the day and have a free afternoon.” Evelyn wasn't sure what she should say, she wanted to go and find someone else but at the same time there was something about him that mesmerised her. She nodded and followed him to the stone benches she had spotted earlier. Listening to him talk about the centre, the programs and the basic running of the place, made it hard for her to believe he was selfish, self-centred or arrogant. In fact he was confident, friendly and down to earth. Maybe Coach Jefferson had made a mistake! “Miss Eden's.” Stanton said. “Evelyn is fine.” She said as she sat across from him. “Very well, Evelyn.” He smiled, “what brings you to the centre?”..... Like an actual Olympic trainer from the actual Olympic Training Centre?” “Yes,” coached couldn't help but smile, “Coach Michaels will do right by you. I will call him and let him know you are coming.” Coach turned to leave but stopped as he seemed to consider something, “Oh there's one thing I do want to caution you about. There is a coach who sometimes works at the centre during the year, Devon Stanton; I want you to stay away from him Evelyn.” “Stay away? Why?” Aidan asked before Evelyn had a chance. Coach's face took on a sad distant look as he began to tell the tale. “Devon was  the very first student I ever trained back when I had just begun my career. He was amazing and even qualifying to the Olympics.” Coach paused and ran a hand over his hair. “But, he became arrogant, selfish and dishonest.” Coached stopped almost as if it pained him to talk about it, “let's just say he had his own ideas about wining and made some choices I didn't agree with.” Looking directly at Evelyn he said solemnly, “please don't trust him Evelyn, it might even be better if Aidan went with you, don't go alone, Stanton's crafty!”..... I came so, so close last year but I just wasn't good enough.” She frowned. “This is my senior year and I want it to be special, I'm not letting Dana beat be this time!” Her eyes narrowing as she thought of her long-time nemesis.  “I know what that means,” Aidan chuckled, “you're going to train like crazy, just please make sure you don't overdo it and injure yourself, ok?”  “I won't.” She said as they stopped in front of her class. “You know I'll be happy to help you in any way I can when I'm not doing any captaincy work. I'm here for you Evie.” Aidan handed her, her books back.  “Thank you!” Evelyn fixed her pile of books so they wouldn't fall and continued talking, “but you don't have the time Aidan. You're crazy busy with all those after school projects you've implemented over the years.” Evelyn looked him straight in the eyes. “Besides you have to train for nationals too, and I don't want you to let yourself down because of me. I promise I'll be ok, we can do this!” Tiptoeing she gave him another kiss on the cheek and hurried to take her seat before Mrs Sheldon got her in trouble again, there was no pleasing that woman..... Today on the show I’m talking with singer/songwriter Holly Starr.  Holly shares about getting started in music, how she ended up opening for LeAnn Rimes early on in her career, and what touring is like for her now.  Holly and I talk about how she met her husband and the moment she knew he was more than just a friend.  She also tells us about struggling with body image for a season, how God changed her mind and the song she wrote about her growth through it.  In addition to her music career, Holly is also the creator of the YES necklace.  She shares how the idea for the necklace came about.  Holly describes her relationship with her Grandma Starr and how the necklace turned into, not only a reminder to trust God, but a ministry for widows who are often overlooked.  We talk about what’s next for her and I love what Holly says about the idea of writing a book and God’s timing.  She says, “I’m not going to try and push it. I really want whatever I create to be inspired by the Spirit so I’m just kind of waiting for that assurance that it’s what He wants.”  Such good words!
