Editor's note: We apologize for audio syncing issues with this episode. On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Ray Fittipaldo and Christopher Carter sort through the NFL Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Why are key players like Jalen Ramsey, Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson and others simply losing one-on-one matchups? And will the woes require a change in scheme from DC Teryl Austin if they continue? Our duo tackles those questions, plus a frustrating day for the offense. How much is QB Aaron Rodgers to blame of the lack and scoring? Do teammates Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick, Isaac Seumalo and Zach Frazier deserve more credit than they've received for limiting pressure? And how much blame does QB Aaron Rodgers deserve for taking four sacks in the contest? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's what would make for a successful 2025 season for the team. In the big picture, the Steelers are in the midst of a rebuild, as Omar Khan and Andy Weidl are undertaking a trenches-out rebuild of the squad that likely won't add its potential franchise quarterback until next spring. The Steelers hope the team's next Super Bowl-winning squad is dominated by the likes of Broderick Jones, Keeanu Benton, Derrick Harmon, Troy Fautanu, Zach Frazier, Mason McCormick and Yahya Black in the trenches. But the Steelers have also gone out of their way to try and compete in 2025, signing Aaron Rodgers and Darius Slay and trading for D.K. Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith in one of the most ambitious offseasons in team history. With the team so obviously attempting to get its playoff losing streak off its back, can a season that ends any other way be considered a success? Alan breaks it down. And will they be able to adequately protect Aaron Rodgers, who increasingly lacks mobility at QB? Later, they ponder whether the running game or high number of new faces in the secondary is a bigger concern. With Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay Jr, Juan Thornhill and others all trying to find their place. And they explain how they feel the Cam Heyward contract dispute may play out now that he's returned to practicing with the team.

Would Gabe Davis be an adequate replacement at WR2 behind DK Metcalf, following his latest visit with the team for a physical? And where does Roman Wilson belong in the pecking order after his strong preseason? Our duo tackles those questions, then takes stock of the way Arthur Smith's offense has run the ball thus far. Did Kaleb Johnson show improvement against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Do young offensive linemen Broderick Jones, Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick and Zach Frazier need to show they can perform when they count before fans can really count on the unit? And how might Aaron Rodgers under center change things compared to backups Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson? Paul tackles those questions and also weighs in on the Pirates' weekend series loss against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Does Roman Wilson looked poised for regular playing time alongside DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III at wide receiver? Will Scotty Miller play an unexpectedly important role as he quickly becomes a favorite target for QB Aaron Rodgers? What will Yahya Black's role be on the defensive line? Will his snap counts be more in line with projected starters like Keeanu Benton, Cam Heyward and Derrick Harmon? Or other presumed depth options like Isaiahh Loudermilk? How will Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles, a renowned defensive mind, challenge Rodgers and other key offensive pieces like DK Metcalf, Jaylen Warren, Zach Frazier and others? And can T.J.
