He was a scientist, a wildlife biologist, worked for the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization and conducted Sasquatch research out of the Comox Valley. Dr. John Bindernagel was known for his passionate dedication to researching the mysterious creature and was famously known throughout the Bigfoot community. His friend - and author - Terrance James recently completed his novel on his years of scientific research and passion to prove the existence of Sasquatch. James joins the podcast to reflect on his friend's life and legacy and his thoughts on how the existence of Sasquatch will one day be proven. To pre-order a copy of James' book, visit Hancock House Publishing. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Featuring Sean Forker, Henry May, Billy Willard, Mike Killen, and Steve Kulls (later in the program). Dr. Bindernagel was at the forefront of Sasquatch Research, a true biologist with a true belief that these creatures did exist. Take a listen as they all discuss the topic together. The audio quality may be less than stellar as this was recorded via BlogTalkRadio in the infancy of podcasting. This show has been edited for clarity and quality.
Richard Noll has been involved with the Sasquatch subject since the late '60s, when he convinced his mother to take him and his four brothers to the state capital of Washington, in Olympia, where a local researcher, Dick Grover, was playing a corny standup piano with several Bigfoot casts on its top, right at the foot of the steps of the capitol. Dick was there in support of a resolution being presented to make the Sasquatch the State Animal. He was also selling John Green's first book on the subject - "On the Track of the Sasquatch." He convinced his mom to buy it for him for the huge price of $4.00. The original of which now sells for around $600.Since then, he has worked with Dr. Grover Krantz, Rene Dahinden, John Green, Peter Byrne, Dr. John Bindernagel, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Dr. Daris Swindler, Dr. George Schaller, Peter Matheson, Dr. Jane Goodall, Briggs Hall, Dr. Leroy Fish and yes even Mat Moneymaker. Rick would often be called upon to investigate local sightings and track finds, reporting back to those that entrusted the task to him. If you talked with him, the majority of the investigations have either been mistaken identities, false interpretations, or outright hoaxes. But then there have been a few gold nuggets that have made him step back, rethink his methodology, recharge and take the mystery on with new vigor. The original investigators treated their search close to the vest. They were in it for the fame and fortune, as much as to solve a mystery they got caught up in, protecting their leads and results for the chance to be the one, the expert, to go down in history as the discoverer. Many of them just ended up writing a few books, articles, or spot appearances on TV documentary's, and those often included Rick and his contributions.Rick has traveled to many different locations around the world in search of evidence to prove these creatures' existence but prefers to concentrate his resources in smaller study areas. One such place produced what is called the "Skookum Cast." It was a ¾ body impression of a large animal that laid down to munch on some fruit that was placed next to a muddy vehicle turned out on a dirt road southeast of Mt. Saint Helens in September of 2000. This cast, named after a secluded breeding ground for Elk, captures a distinctive hair pattern on most of the depressions that many feel represent a bipedal animal with large buttocks, two large thighs, calves, and very human-looking ankles and heels. There is even a spot that looks like the forearm, complete with musculature sculpturing, where the creature leaned over to reach for the fruit left for it. Little known to many were the teeth impressions the animal left in the fruit. This impression was discovered on one of the very first BFRO expeditions employing large battleship loudspeakers blasting purported screams from Sasquatch.Ricks's main focus in his search of this creature is in exploring its landscape, where and how it could possibly exist, with little to no scientific acceptance for its existence. Many of the scientists he has shown his collection of 60+ track casts, hair samples, taped screams, eyewitness declarations, and of course, the Skookum Cast are secretly very interested and perplexed. Still, science follows the money and funds to look for a yet to be discovered, hair-covered, bipedal primate, here in North America runs as deep and dry as summertime in the Grand Canyon.Rick also believes in using the latest technology available, which is used in criminal investigations and archeology. He often sprays reagent compounds and employs sophisticated imaging technology to view the cryptic behavior of nature in its elements.
Writer, educator, and editor from Ohio, Amy Bue became interested in the search for Bigfoot after seeing something strange in Ohio's Mahoning County in 2012. While her main research areas are in Forest County, Pennsylvania, and its Allegheny National Forest and in Ohio's Columbiana County, Amy has traveled to Michigan, New York State, Kentucky, Oregon, Washington State, West Virginia, Texas, Arkansas, and all over Ohio following up leads.Much of Amy's efforts have been put into her Project Zoobook, a group she co-founded comprised of primate zookeepers, primatologists, wildlife biologists, marine biologists, forestry workers, archaeologists, anthropologists, university professors, law enforcement officials, taxonomists, and other scientists working alongside Bigfoot researchers from across the country. She was given the International Bigfoot Conference's 2018 Dedicated Researcher Award for her work with this group.Amy is an active speaker and has spoken for events and organizations such as Gatlinburg's Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Conference, Oregon's Beachfoot, Ohio's Creature Weekend, several Outdoor Hunting and Fishing Conventions, Ohio's State Parks' system, and for the Ohio Division of Wildlife and its Audubon Society. Creekfoot, a well-loved biannual Bigfooting event in Ohio, was created by Amy and her research partner, Tina Sams.Amy has also appeared at such venues as Horror Hound Weekend's Fact or Fiction Fest in Indianapolis, and at the Spokane Valley Sasquatch Roundup in Washington State. While in Northern Washington, she participated in the filming of a documentary for Extreme Expeditions Northwest, which was recently released. She also headed up a group of women researchers on an expedition in South Carolina, spoke alongside the Olympic Project at Washington's Sasquatch Summit, and was featured in the December 2019 issue of Squatch GQ magazine.Amy's plans for 2020 and 2021 included trips to research with the Navajo in Arizona, to speak at the Metaline Falls conference in Washington, and to explore Alaska's Prince of Wales Island and Port Chatham. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, these have been postponed. As a writer herself, Amy's articles on the topic have been published in California's Bigfoot Times and in newsletters as far away as Norway and Australia. She is currently writing a book about Ohio's Tom Page, one of Peter Byrne and Roger Patterson's financial backers and a partner in their adventures. In between giving time to those efforts, Amy completed her certification classes through the Ohio State University to become an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist. For the past seven years, she has spent time gathering evidence while doing a long-term micro-study of a portion of the Allegheny National Forest. She collects photographs of flora and fauna of the area, which she shares with scientists through the iNaturalist app, and gathers audio and photographic evidence with her own long-duration equipment. Eyewitness accounts are also mapped. Amy is also continuing her studies with the Midwest Native Skills Institute, and she plans on continuing to learn and use her survival skills in her continued search for proof of Bigfoot's existence. For all of these reasons and more, Amy was recently awarded the 2020 Bigfoot Community Choice Female Researcher of the Year Award.Catch Amy every other Tuesday at 9:00 PM EST on her show, "Wild Bue Yonder," on YouTube's Beyond Explanation Channel.About Project Zoobook: Project Zoobook meets virtually bi-weekly as a think tank where these individuals discuss research, ideas, and new findings that are pertinent to both the Bigfoot topic and primate behavior. They are collaborating on micro studies of areas currently being researched across North America and on scientific endeavors that could benefit that research. Project Zoobook's wish is to carry on researcher Dr. John Bindernagel's work of making the subject of Bigfoot less taboo.
My guest tonight is Todd Neiss. Todd is a long time investigator with tons of field experience and some amazing encounters to share with us on the show tonight. He is also the organizer of the Beachfoot invite only yearly event, that hosts The Who's Who of the Bigfoot world. Todd had his first sighting in the 90's while conducting explosive maneuvers with the military. Stick around and hear his latest encounter from late this past year that he shares for the first time publicly. It's a pretty wild account. See Todd's bio below for more information on his life and experiences as a Bigfoot researcher.Bigfoot witness-turned-researcher, Todd M. Neiss has been an active investigator for over 28 years. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he grew up hearing of these legendary creatures, alternately known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch, but gave it little credibility beyond that of a good old-fashioned campfire tale designed to frighten young campers. All of that changed for Todd in the spring of 1993. As a Sergeant in the Army's 1249th Combat Engineer Battalion, he came face to face with, not one, but three of the elusive giants in the temperate rain forest of Oregon's Coast Range while conducting high-explosives training. His sighting was independently corroborated by three fellow soldiers who also witnessed these creatures.Since that fateful day, Neiss has conducted numerous investigations including several long-term expeditions in the Coastal, Cascade and Blue Mountain Ranges of Oregon & Washington, as well as Northern California, Arizona, Alaska, Nebraska and British Columbia. Todd believes that, in the tradition of Jane Goodall, Biruté Galdikas and Diane Fossey, the best way to obtain credible evidence of the existence of these fascinating beings is to insert a small research team into the heart of prime Bigfoot habitat for an extended period of time; ideally for 45 to 60-day rotations. In doing so, he hopes to acclimatize the creatures to their presence and eventually overcome their inherent apprehension of humans. It is his opinion that these creatures possess a relatively high IQ in comparison to recognized great apes. Neiss' current theory focuses on that presumed intelligence which he believes fosters an irresistible sense of curiosity...a curiosity which Neiss intends to exploit. By presenting a variety of baits as well as an array of unconventional, non-threatening lures within a pre-designated area, he hopes to successfully collect irrefutable evidence of these creature's existence. "It is my goal to entice these animals by presenting a non-threatening posture and piquing their curiosity, thereby luring them into a specified area where irrefutable evidence can then be obtained," says Neiss. Once the creatures are officially recognized, his ultimate goal is to establish a management program to ensure their perpetual existence for future generations to appreciate.Over the years, his research has garnered him international attention. He has been the subject of numerous documentaries and TV programs from the US and Canada to the UK and Germany. He has been featured on such programs as: Unsolved Mysteries, Encounters, To the Ends of the Earth, The UnXpected and has been featured on the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel and National Geographic. He has also appeared on numerous radio & TV talk shows, local newscasts and newspapers. He is currently producing a documentary about his recent expedition in the uninhabited Broughton Archipelago of British Columbia called “Operation: Sea Monkey” completed on October 1st, 2016. Click or enter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgsN8dQMZGY&t=127s to watch the trailer. He has been a featured speaker at several colleges and universities, and was a regular contributor to the Annual Sasquatch Symposium series held in British Columbia, Canada from 1996 through 1999. Neiss has instructed classes on Bigfoot for the Audubon Society as well as the Campfire Boys & Girls Society; the former involving both classroom and field work and culminating with an overnight working camp in the "Dark Divide" of Washington State's Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Recently he instructed a class for the Scappoose Middle School's outdoor school. Most recently, Neiss was a featured for the History Channel's “The UnXplained” with William Shatner on August 21, 2020. It will air sometime in late November. Todd and Diane are the hosts of the annual, invitation-only gathering of international Bigfoot researchers called “Beachfoot.” This retreat is held every summer in Oregon's temperate Coast Range. This unique event has drawn noted researchers from as far away as Australia, Russia, England, Canada, New Zeeland and nearly every state in the U.S. This year will mark their 14th anniversary of the event.Neiss co-founded the American Primate Conservancy with his wife, Diane Stocking Neiss five years ago. The conservancy was granted a “Domestic Non-Profit Corporation” status by the state of Oregon On October 15, 2015. Their primary mission is “the discovery, knowledge, research, recognition, and protection of the Sasquatch.” The organization has been quietly organizing expeditions, conducting investigations, and participating in multi-media and public speaking engagements in an effort to promote their agenda. They have been actively pursuing grants, donations, sponsorships and volunteers for ongoing research projects. Ultimately, they plan to establish a world-class “Bigfoot Interpretive Center” in the Pacific Northwest as a showcase for promoting public awareness and education regarding these amazing creatures. The facility would include: an interactive museum, auditorium/conference center, art gallery, multi-media studio, classrooms, library, forensics laboratory, nature walk and outdoor amphitheater. A veteran of the Iraq War, Neiss recently retired with meritorious honors from the U.S. Army; where he served for over 21 years. When not working on the project, writing, or conducting research, Todd enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking and camping throughout the Pacific Northwest. Todd and his wife currently live near Mount Hood, 50 miles east of Portland, Oregon. Nestled in the beautiful Cascaded Mountains, the “Chateau de Squatch” is in an ideal location for which to conduct their research and serves as the temporary headquarters for the conservancy. The American Primate Conservancy has a website (www.americanprimate.org) which provides information about the Conservancy, projects past and present, theories, and more. Anyone with a legitimate sighting is encouraged to contact Neiss at 971-570-0097 or by e-mail at americanprimate@aol.com. He promises to treat every report confidentially, respectfully and professionally. PERSONAL REFERENCES"I have known Todd Neiss for some ten years. We first met because of a mutual interest in the Bigfoot phenomenon and within this decade we have carried out several field trips together in connection with the mystery...I know Todd to be a young man of fine moral character, a person whose integrity would never need to be questioned...he is far ahead of many in the field. This has its basis in three things and these are, essentially, dedication, tenacity and an intelligent approach. I have no hesitation in recommending Todd and the services he can render in research on what is now one of the last great mysteries of our shrinking planet, to anyone requiring his services, or wishing to be associated with him or sponsoring a project designed by and to be directed by him." - Peter Byrne, Author, Researcher, Explorer, Conservationist. Fellow, The Royal Geographical Society, London, England; Member Emeritus, The Explorers Club, New York, NY.; Member, The Academy of Applied Science, Boston, MA.; Honorary Member, The East African Professional Hunters Association; Honorary Executive Director, The International Wildlife Conservation Society."Having dealt with Mr. Neiss on numerous issues related to the Bigfoot problem, and having recently actually worked with him in the field in Oregon, I can state without any reservation that he is a thoughtful individual, one who is more concerned with helping to solve a scientific problem than with personal aggrandizement, one who is certainly qualified to work on this kind of problem, and one whose integrity is beyond question." – The late Dr. J. Richard Greenwell, International Explorer, Secretary-International Society Of Cryptozoology, Research Associate in Mammalogy-International Wildlife Museum, Tucson, AZ."I first met Todd Neiss when he spoke at a conference in Harrison Hot Springs, BC in 1996. At that time he gave a very professional account of his 1993 Sasquatch observations near Seaside, Oregon. (I briefly cited his observations on page 42 of my recent book.) Since then, we have met at other conferences and I have become impressed with his sincerity and willingness to persevere with serious investigations on his own time and using his own funds. He has investigated a number of Sasquatch reports and presented his results in timely and helpful reports which he has shared with his colleagues. His presentations at conferences and in the media are a credit to him and to our attempts to attract serious attention to this subject. I consider Todd's presence in this difficult area to be a great asset. His efforts have been important in our attempts to bring this controversial subject into mainstream biology. I hope that he will continue his work. I am more than willing to be included in any work that Todd undertakes in an advisory basis as required," – The late Dr. John Bindernagel, Ph. D., Wildlife Biologist, published author.

A few weeks ago I put a challenge out there to the bigfoot researchers to come on and give a presentation on this Bigfoot Research I keep hearing about. I think 2 individuals responded. Paul Graves is a researcher here in Washington State and he has agreed to come on and give a presentation on what Bigfoot Research evolves. Paul is great guy and I know John Bindernagel thought very high of him. What will you learn? You will have to wait and see. Feeling a little down and thinking about the Doc. John Albert Bindernagel (December 22, 1941 – January 17, 2018) was a wildlife biologist who sought evidence for Bigfoot since 1963. He published a book in 1998 entitled North America's Great Ape: the Sasquatch (ISBN 0-9682887-0-7). His second book, The Discovery of the Sasquatch – Reconciling Culture, History, and Science in the Discovery Process, was published in 2010. Bindernagel grew up in Ontario, attended the University of Guelph, and received a PhD in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He moved to British Columbia in 1975largely because the region was a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings. Over the years, he collected casts of tracks that he believed belonged to Bigfoot. He also claimed to have heard the creature near Comox Lake in 1992, comparing its whooping sound to that of a chimpanzee. Bindernagel believed that the Bigfoot phenomena should receive more attention from serious scientists, but remarked, "The evidence doesn't get scrutinized objectively. We can't bring the evidence to our colleagues because it's perceived as taboo." Bindernagel was a true pioneer in the field of cryptozoology and was a regular on the classic History Channel show MonsterQuest. Bindernagel and Dr. Jeff Meldrum often appeared together on the show and had a real-life friendship. Together they formed the bedrock of the Bigfoot Research Community. Bindernagel was a familiar face on the History Channel appearing on a number of their specials.
Thomas Sewid is the main guide on this adventure and is one of North America’s leading experts on Sasquatch/Bigfoot with a massive understanding of the North American Indian perspectives on the creatures. He has studied under and with guidance from Dr. John Bidernagel who is another leading Sasquatch/Bigfoot researcher, Thomas learned to continually study the scientific information pertaining to primates and relic humanoids.Thomas has journeyed the entire coast comparing information about Sasquatch with others who believe. 28 years ago, he was sent out into his traditional territories located between Vancouver Island and the mainland known as The Broughton Archipelago to be a watchman of his Peoples’ abandoned Indian Village. This began his life to live in the bush year round, being a grizzly bear hunting guide, fishing guide and Eco-tourism operator. He lives part-time in Kent Washington with his partner Peggy and they conduct Sasquatch/Bigfoot tours and expeditions with Ha Moo Moo Adventures. Having studied under Dr. John Bindernagel and learning about researching the creatures, he’s incorporated his ancestral native teachings and ways to share a greater understanding about the migratory patterns of the Pacific Northwest Sasquatch/Bigfoot. Thomas is host of the new television series in production called Sasquatch Island. The name is in reference to the indigenous people of North America referring to the continent as Turtle Island. Seeing as every tribe has stories of the creatures, the name of show and Facebook Group Thomas manages is in reference to the continent being Sasquatch Island. The name of their operation is Wildwoman Productions in reference to the Tzoonakwa, or female Sasquatch to the Kwakwaka’wakw tribe he belongs to.http://www.hamoomooadventures.comMusic by Chronox, Space Sation, Kasseopea and Bundy
John A. Bindernagel (born 1941 - January 18, 2018) was a wildlife biologist who sought evidence for Bigfoot since 1963. He published a book in 1998 entitled North America's Great Ape: the Sasquatch. Bindernagel grew up in Ontario, attended the University of Guelph, and received a PhD in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He moved to British Columbia in 1975, largely because the region was a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings. I have invited many friends of the Doc to come on and talk about what John meant to them, and share their memories of him. I will also be playing some clips of past shows with John. Tonight I will be joined by Bob Gimlin, Russell Acord, Derek Randles, Ron Morehead, Paul Graves, Marc Myrsell, Thomas Sewid, Rictor Riolo, Shane Corson, and Todd and Diane Neiss. I know so many people wanted to come on and talk about John and I tried to fit in as many as possible. I think I can sum up the show tonight like this: John was an example of how to be a great human being. He always treated people with respect and was loved and admired by many. I hope when you hear the show you remember John. Check out his website HERE.
This is a show for everyone and its going to be an extra long show. I know some people struggle this time of year so I hope the show takes your mind off things for a couple of hours. I will be posting the show tonight but it will not be up till later tonight, later than normal. Being that it is a longer show and the file size is much larger it takes twice as long to upload it to the site. Merry Christmas everyone! One of my guests for the Christmas show is Jim King. Jim “Bear” King of the Bigfoot Outlaws program had his first Bigfoot encounter as a child many years ago. Since that time Jim has been studying the creature at every opportunity. He has had numerous sightings and has enough stories regarding his experiences to fill many books. Bear wanted to come by and share what is new with him and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. One of my surprise guests for the Christmas Show is going to be Dr. John Bindernagel. I love having Dr. Bindernagel on the show. I spoke to him today and he wanted to share some of his recent research but John also said “The fans of Sasquatch Chronicles have some of the best questions I have ever been asked. Please ask your audience to feel free to ask questions and I will try to address them.”
I have been posting John’s videos to the website every chance I get. John writes “As a wildlife biologist, I have been studying the sasquatch (or bigfoot) for just over 50 years. For the past 25 years, the main subject of my wildlife research has been the scrutiny of evidence which appears to affirm the sasquatch as an existing mammal. During this period, I found this evidence to be not only compelling, but eventually conclusive in supporting the sasquatch as an existing North American mammal.” Be sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel. Tonight I will be speaking to Mark who is from Southern California and had an encounter over a year ago. Mark moved to Washington state and went out with a friend to try hunting for the first time east of Seattle, Washington. I know the area well, and have recently received many reports from this area. Mark saw a creature who stood up and looked directly at him, and had a great description of what he saw. Mark says “I could not believe what I was looking at, I never believed in this before and didn’t care about the topic.” The men decided to go to the area where he saw the creature, and they found where the creature had been laying down, as well as large, human-like tracks. Mark and his friend have returned to the area almost every weekend for the last year and have had other encounters with the creatures. Mark says “I have just become obsessed with this, I feel like I need answers.” Mark invited wildlife biologist, John Bindernagel out to the area and John was so impressed he gave Mark a plot watcher to set up. Mark has sent me some of the evidence that he has collected, and has also sent the Olympic Project his audio to have it reviewed. Mark says “We have seen the creatures on several occasions and I am working on getting some clear video of them, I have recorded strange chatter, whoops, screams, roars and yells.” He was able to capture them on video as the creature was ducking down between two trees and sent me the still frames from that video. Mark says “I want to gather all of the evidence and work on getting them better on film before I release it to the public.” Tonight Mark shares with us the encounters he has had in this area and even an encounter where he was charged by one.
