TheBuckeyes beat Rutgers by 33 points with both starting wide receivers (and a key backup receiver) tied behind their backs on Saturday. Ohio State's 42-9 rout of the Scarlet Knights took a while to build up some steam, but the defense's continued bludgeoning of opponents eventually let the offense catch up. Julian Sayin made good use of Max Klare and Bo Jackson and his fellow running backs ran wild, while Caden Curry made the Rutgers backfield his own personal playground.As we normally do, we checked our score predictions from last week, broke down all the key players, moments, and stats from the game, and checked on our picks to click to see how they performed.  Following our Rutgers rewind, we discussed the other results around the Big Ten. Once again, Wrigley Field delivered a solid game, as Northwestern reached bowl eligibility when Minnesota missed its last-second field goal. USC couldn't stop Oregon's offense in what we thought was going to be a good game. Iowa had to stage a furious fourth-quarter comeback to beat Sparty at home. Nebraska was a no-show in Happy Valley. UCLA is bad again, while Maryland remains bad. There are a lot of good rivalry games this week in the Big Ten, and we're particularly excited about Farmageddon on Friday as well as the Oregon-Washington battle in Seattle. Rutgers and Penn State will meet with bowl eligibility going only to the winner, and we don't expect that to be the Scarlet Knights.  Finally, we looked forward to The Game Saturday at noon. Everyone with any sense of taste is tired of hearing about the current streak, but there's only one way to shut those yaps, and that is to win the game in the greatest rivalry in sports. Ohio State will have to shut down the run and make life difficult for Bryce Underwood while hopefully Julian Sayin will have his primary weapons because the Wolverines have a stout run defense but have had issues defending the pass. We discuss the matchup, make our picks to click, and try to predict the final score. The Pacific Crest Trail is 2,653 mi (4,270 km) long and ranges in elevation from roughly 110 feet (34 m) above sea level near the Bridge of the Gods on the Oregon–Washington border to 13,153 feet (4,009 m) at Forester Pass in the Sierra Nevada. The route passes through 25 national forests and 7 national parks. Its midpoint is near Chester CA (near Mt. Lassen), where the Sierra and Cascade mountain ranges meet. My friend John Crane (lives in Austin TX, grew up in Oregon/Washington, Sweden RM 1966-68, married a woman, has 4 kids and many grandkids, divorced, been with husband Thom for over 35 years, no longer LDS), joins us to share his story being gay and a deep believer in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. John starts with his growing up years and finding his spiritual home in the Church and then serving a successful mission in Sweden. John talks about getting married to a woman (being more of a “church assignment”) and having 4 kids. John talks about that marriage ending and deciding to date men (which led to being excommunicated—John fulfilled a church assignment the night before). John talks about painful/messy experiences dating men (and being in unhealthy relationships) and continue to pray to God for direction. John talks about finding his husband Thom (also a RM) being the answer to his prayers (and Thom's prayers) and how they built a life—and beautiful love story—together. John—a deeply emotional and spiritual man—talks about his love of Heavenly Father, the Savior, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and scriptures and the many deeply spiritual experiences that are part of his journey (including baptizing his Dad). John talks about his husband Thom and their deep love and companionship (and being there for each other as they get older) and Thom's dedicated temple family history work and his support of his kids/grandchildren who have/will serve missions.  The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon Department of Agriculture recently announced the closure of shellfish harvesting throughout the entire Oregon coast. In Washington, officials have also closed shellfish harvesting throughout the state’s Pacific Coast. Agencies are checking for a marine biotoxin which can cause paralytic shellfish poisoning. The naturally occurring biotoxin affects the nervous system. People with paralytic shellfish poisoning can experience tingling of the lips and tongue, nausea and difficulty breathing. The illness has been linked to the sickening of at least 20 people in Oregon last month.  The Oregon Health Authority is also asking people who recently harvested or ate any shellfish from the Oregon Coast to complete a survey. Officials are investigating illnesses linked to contaminated shellfish. We learn more about biotoxins and how climate change might be affecting algae that produce them from Vera Trainer, the marine program manager of the University of Washington’s Olympic Natural Resources Center.
