Tomorrow will see this year's ‘Come Together' tour come to an end. The group behind the tour has spanned four years, playing 11 different albums and songs from Kiwis' favourite artists – leaving behind tens of thousands of happy fans. It's been a roaring success yet again, with the likes of Jon Toogood, Diane Swann, and Fur Patrol's Julia Deans taking to the stage to perform. One of New Zealand's all-time favourite bands is back. Fur Patrol first appeared in 1998 with their EP ‘Starlifter', three albums and songs topping the charts all through the 2000s. They're returning to Kiwi audiences later this year on a New Zealand tour, visiting Christchurch, Auckland, and Nelson. Fur Patrol last performed together in 2022, and frontwoman Julia Deans told Jack Tame that getting together feels like being back in the family again, and everything just kind of locks into place. She said that when they did the shows for the Pet anniversary tour, everyone was so excited and happy, and they're hoping to generate that kind of buzz again. Next month, Betty-Anne Monga, Annie Crummer, Julia Deans and Boh Runga will come together for an International Women's Day tribute 'Hear Me Roar'. "We've got our first proper singing rehearsal next Thursday, so prior to that, it's just been getting together and discussing the songs we want to do and how we want to approach it- it's been very, very fun." Hailing the Pioneering Women of Rock harnesses the energy of kiwi musicians Boh Runga, Julia Deans, Dianne Swann, Gussie Larkin, and Jazmine Mary as they perform a catalogue of hits fronted by rock's iconic female artists. Julia Deans told Mike Hosking that the music is predominantly from the early seventies to the late eighties. This year's APRA Silver Scroll Awards featured stunning interpretations of some of Aotearoa's finest music, guided with grace and precision through the awards' new online format by musical director Julia Deans. 95bFM Breakfast's Rachel was present at the Tāmaki Makaurau tapings of two such interpretations: Disciple Pati's rendition of Reb Fountain's 'Don't You Know Who I Am'; and Alien Weaponry's stonking take on Troy Kingi's 'Mighty Invader'. Julia shares her insights three months into her role as President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada.
