This podcast episode of Constant Procession is about St William and the Black Madonna of Montevergine. The Virgin Mary apparated to St. William, a Benedictine monk during his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. She tasked him to stop his trek, and build the “Most Holy Mother of God Monastery” on the side of a steep mountain north of present-day Naples, Italy back in the 12th century. How could he or any other humans predict this monastery would become the fortress that protected St Lukes' “Black Madonna” and the “Shroud of Turin” from the clutches of Hitler during WWII? Auckland police have launched a manhunt after a road rage incident last night led to the shooting of a teenage girl. The girl was travelling in a minivan with family members when police say the car was pursued for more than 10km as it travelled along the Southern Motorway from Mount Wellington to St Lukes. The offending vehicle then fired multiple shots and a 15-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. Police say it's lucky the incident isn't a homicide. Auckland police are still hunting for a gunman shot at a minivan, injuring a 15-year-old girl who was sitting in the van's backseat. The girl is in a stable condition in hospital - another family member was also injured but not shot. In what's being called an act of road rage, a 2009 Mazda Axela followed the minivan off the north-western motorway near St Lukes on Tuesday night. The offender then shot at the vehicle near Asquith Avenue in Mount Albert and carried onto a petrol station on Sandringham Road where police were called. Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend is calling it an appalling display of violence. The general manager of the Sandringham Business Association, Mark Scherer spoke with Corin Dann.

Who knew legos could bring so much joy to hurting kids all over the Treasure Valley! We had such a great interview with Cindy, Founder of Brody's Bricks, a non-profit who gives legos to St Lukes, Nampa Family Justice Center and any other place where kids need cheering up. This organization started because of a difficult circumstance in Cindy's own life, which you can read below Brody's Bricks, Inc began on Good Friday. A few days prior we had gone into St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute in Boise for some lab work. Unfortunately, Brody's labs weren't where they needed to be and they asked us to come back to begin infusion treatments. They've diagnosed him with an autoimmune disease and epilepsy. His body little body is just fighting itself. We hadn't no idea he was going to need these treatments. Trying to cheer him up, I told him I had put a couple Lego sets aside at Bricknowlogy for him and his brother for Easter and maybe we could go get them when we were done. During the infusion Brody overheard another little boy asking if there were any Batman Lego sets he hadn't already done. He leaned over to me and whispered, " He must be here a lot, mom." He then asked if we could donate his Legos to the hospital instead. He told me God put him there on Good Friday as a test. I was so proud of my son, but my heart heart for what he was experiencing so young. After his treatment we returned with several Lego sets to donate. We posted a picture with my two sons, Daniel and Brody, and a couple of the St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute nurses holding the Legos online. Friends and family started sending sets to donate! We realized this could really be a positive thing for the children in our community. We applied for our non-profit status and so began Brody's Bricks, Inc! We've been so honored to help bring joy to children through out the Treasure Valley. We continue to donate multiple Lego sets monthly to St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute. We also donate to Nampa Family Justice Center. We help fill Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho wish list as well as their pantry. We've been able to send multiple Lego care packages directly to the homes of children going through chemotherapy as well as packages for their siblings. We fill backpacks for foster care programs. We've donated close to 300 hygiene kits! We have an absolutely amazing community who has shown an overwhelming response to Brody's hope of helping other children going through similar health situations! Be sure to follow Brody's Bricks on Facebook and Instagram and you can contact Cindy at brodysbricksinc@gmail.com And also check out their posts about delivering gifts with Santa and his special story as well, Cindy briefly touches on this in our interview.

All The Links   It is finally here the big investigation but let me tell you a few things. There will be a couple times where you hear a very small audio break I did that on purpose. Second I saved the chapel for last as it will be a little over an hour of listening to see what you all can hear or skim through if you like. Finally the upstairs I cut and threw just what we caught as it was a shorter visit and only caught those couple things. You will notice one portion that has a lot of interference that is where one of the elderly ladies passed. I recently met Lani Steinberg, archivist and manager of the Thrift Shop at St Lukes in the Field, the West Village institution that was founded over 40 years ago by a group of local mothers. Lani describes the changing fabric of the West Village over the last decade. She describes the impact of Covid during and post lockdown, the changing demographics, the community role of the store, and the church gardens as a touchstone in the neighborhood. Lani discusses the culture of thrifting and broad range of motivations. I ask Lani about homelessness, food insecurity, mental health and the needs of parishioners, the role of churches, how neighborhoods will evolve, and if peoples' priorities will change as we move beyond the pandemic. Lani shares her hopes that we will emerge with more empathy as individuals and a more entrenched sense of community. We also discuss what is missing in the neighborhood and the changing nature of the church congregation.

This week legendary music mogul Alan McGee talks with Darren Forbes of Fife band the Shambolics. Darren Forbes – Vocals/Guitar, discusses the start of the Shambolics and what Alan McGee describes as, “one of the most exciting things coming out of Scotland……” Shambolics are a four piece Fife band; Lewis McDonald (vocals/guitar), Darren Forbes (vocals/guitar), Jordan McHatton (vocals/bass) and Jake Bain (vocals/drums). Already said to be, “a firm favourite on Scottish turf, the four piece have become accustomed to selling out venues like St Lukes in Glasgow and The Water Rats in London in a heartbeat.” Signed by Alan McGee to his Creation 23 label last summer. Not ones to sit still, the Shams preoccupied themselves during the pandemic with a series of classic cover versions in their distinctly dreamy style, including Fleetwood Mac's ‘Everywhere', The Weeknd's ‘Blinding Light', ABBA's ‘mamma Mia and The Rolling Stones‘ 'Sympathy For The Devil'; finding a raft of new fans with their uplifting reworkings.
