8 more movie reviews for you today, and lets dive right in. Wait! Hold up for just a second, cause today we also do a lil mini celebration of having reviewed over 225 films here. Just about halfway for film reviews according to my ever expanding list. So we share some of our favorites and not so favs from the list. Ok back to it. We start off today with (Cold Turkey 1971). Here we have Dick van Dyke Pippa Scott and pretty much every big character actor workin in the 70's. This was directed by Norman Lear, who actually did not direct much, he was more of a writer and producer, and can y'all believe he is still with us at 101. He showed up the oscars and I was pretty amazed. Damn let's go, this is a movie about a town that wants to make a name for itself by taking an odd bet from big Tobacco that a town can't quit smoking for a month. Will the succeed/ is this film any good, well we will certainly give our hot takes on this 52 year old movie. Here I screwed up the chronological flow of things and engaged in our Pink Panther movie early, apologies, but it's (the Pink Panther strikes again 1976) More apologies to slapstick fans, for my treatment of the so called genre, just imagine me falling down a lot and having a rake hit me in the face……. While I solve crime, that could make you happy again. Moving on to (the Snow Goose 1971) spoiler with little remorse, it's the most trippy 70's way to tell the story of Dunkirk ever. Listen to our review of the snow goose then listen to Camel's amazing progressive rock masterpiece, the snow goose, for some musical insight into this. Why not? Next up is (the Other 1972) Ha, we couldn't quite figure it out while reviewing this drama horror mystery film, but right here on IMDB it says it takes place in 1935, and that's very important to know, NOT. It can bug us when we just can't tell while viewing, when a movie is supposed to take place, I thought that Touched by Love just had everyone dressing basic and a lil hipster, but it took place in the 50's apparently. What else to say………… I think this kid might be trouble. Let's continue with another creepy one we wanted to get on the tape before halloween but as usual didn't. Please enjoy now our review of (Don't look now 1973) Ha, no review here, you gotta listen, but why would you be here and not. This one is weird and I think it's meant to be. Fans of Julie Christie, Donald Sutherland, and director Nicolas Roeg, must sometimes find their way here, whether they love it or not. Moving on again to (Conduct Unbecoming 1975). The guy from sound of music who was apparently at least half drunk the whole shoot is here in this, he was also in Star Trek 6, also the guy from Jurrassic park that says “welcome to Jurrasic park.' Is here too sooooo it's got to be great of course. F**k don't forget the guy from Logan's Run, the guy from Cheech and Chongs Up in Smoke, and the Officer who says “my vow of celibacy is on record.” In Star Trek the motion picture, she's here, as well as Susan York from superman 2. Everyone's here so this is just gonna rule, right? Next up is Henry Wrinker in (the One and Only 1978). Will the Fonz who is the absolute most annoying self obsessed college student, find balance, and have a healthy home and work relationship? Let's see, Henry is a great actor so even in cringe it's nice, at least for me to watch him cook. Kim Darby from the STOS episode MIRI and True grit is here, along with Mrs Deagle from Gremlins who gets sent through the roof in the stair chair device. Finally today we review (GoldenGirl 1979). This, long long on my list of buried 70's films with a very intriguing premise has finally been re-released on DVD. Will it live up to the hype in my head? Susan Anton is here, singing the theme song, and training constantly. Hey, 70's film fans, I hope this finds you well, and seriously, thanks for reading this, and listening.

We're a few weeks late on seeing this one, but we've decided to start heroically taking one for the team. From now on, we will strive to speed to the cinema and watch as many films as possible, good or bad, and let you know what we think. Here is our take on Jurrassic World: Dominion. Here's a hint about what we thought of this movie: even though we reviewed this movie in this episode, we never did say the title correctly. Watch for future Speeding to the Cinema episodes to get our thoughts on the latest movies out in theaters!
For our first episode in 2022, we are joined with our friends from the Towards Data Science podcast to discuss our thoughts about the AI-related trends and events that happened in 2021. Some things we discuss are: Foundation models continue to grow, but one interesting trend is the focus on efficiency along with (instead of?) scale. For example, while DeepMind's Gopher model has fewer than twice the parameters of GPT-3, it's reportedly 25 times more efficient, meaning that much more value is being squeezed out of the same training data and compute. AI21Labs' Jurrassic models are also equal to GPT-3 on a parameter count basis, but reflect a focus on architecture optimization over raw scaling that we expect to persist into 2022. (That's not to say significant scaling won't happen, or that it hasn't happened already; Microsoft Turing-NLG, released a few months ago, is over half a trillion parameters in size. But it's safe to say that scaling won't be done without simultaneous efficiency optimizations that were less of a focus in late-2020.) Procedural environment generation has been a big theme in reinforcement learning. In Open-Ended Learning Leads to Generally Capable Agents, the team at DeepMind showed how training RL agents on a wide range of environments can lead to emergent behaviour associated with generalization, like trial and error and cooperation with friendly agents. Open-ended learning (OEL) seems like an interesting wildcard, which some researchers think might be an important ingredient in the final AGI recipe. We spoke with OpenAI's head of open-ended learning, Ken Stanley, about what role OEL might play in the future of AI on this episode of the TDS podcast. A NeurIPS spotlight paper titled Optimal Policies Tend to Seek Power, and subsequent work by the same author, are showing that we should expect highly capable AI systems to engage in dangerous behaviour that's misaligned with human values, by default. Specifically, highly competent agents will tend to search for states that are powerful, in the sense that they offer many downstream options. This finding makes a compelling case that AI alignment ought to be prioritized, particularly given the rate of progress we're seeing in AI capabilities more broadly. If it really is the case that capable AI systems will be dangerous by default, active effort must be invested in safety research. CATV is here to talk survival games, ther ever growing confusion that is Death Stranding and more Kojima. What would you think it would be like to work with him? Of course we couldnt have a podcast without Bens rant on the ongoings of Smite. On top of all these we talk movies like Jurrassic park and others! We continue with our summer classic theme as we watch the OG Jurrassic Park!
Today on the Toy Power Podcast, it's a family affair as we welcome Ben's little brother Andrew to the show. You know, the handsome Sachse! Andrew shares with us his love of all things mechanic with the perfect toy line: Crash Dummies by Tyco. Not to be confused with a certain hit 90s song, what started as an educational series of toys, became a hit with cars, planes and figures that were actually designed to break apart. But how do parents deal with a toy that is constantly “breaking”? No, no – not the dreaded Kraggle mum! The Sachse boy regale us with childhood stories and bring in both the toys and some treasured home-made items. We then change gears and return to the Jurrassic era for a good look at latest movie-tie in, this time from Mattel. With everything from the tiny Kinder-surprise toys to the Super Colossal T-Rex, Ben fills the table with dinos of all shapes and sizes. How did Mattel do in their first dino-attempt? But the real question of this episode is: What would Picard do? Support the show.
The Blerds and Nerds return in our first episode since the end of our MCU Takeover month. Co-hosts Shannon Talley, Gyasi Sturgis and Perry Koenig discuss Deadpool, the Solo Movie as well as other anticipated June releases and E3 with recurring guest Julian Atienza.

Along the way we discuss the other films of David Koepp, the career of the girl who played Kelly, the TV show of Westworld, The West Wing, Swingers, we discuss things we have been watching (such as Witless and The Leftovers) and I introduce a new feature.
