This week on the Global Research News Hour, as we commemorate NAKBA Day, we take a look at what motivates Israel's over the top cruelty in their campaign against Hamas carried out for the most part on Palestinian Women and children and the response of university students and people around the world who are determined such actions are not made in their name. The danger in fighting fire with fire is that you risk becoming the very thing you're trying to oppose. Susan Dunham has a marvelous column on what we learned from hating the unvaccinated. At the risk of spreading gossip, Elon Musk is stepping up in a big way to build a hardcore legal team to push back against those trying to put a gag on him. Andrea Widburg describes how Musk is going on the offensive. On a related note, watching Elon Musk get red-pilled in realtime has been an eye-opener for many others who are seeking higher ground. Roger Kimball explains the signs and portents of Musk's growing political maturity. You've no doubt caught wind of the growing media fervor over monkey pox. Bringing Light into the Geopolitical Context of the Ukraine Crisis & Do all Nations Have the Right to National Security? The US borders areas are secure from foreign enemy and missile attacks. Is Russia an aggressor nation or does it seek the national security it feels it is losing? Investigative journalist Mike Whitney joins Bringing Light Into Darkness to reflect on his recent article What Putin Wants, and a number of other questions as well. What is at play in the geopolitics of US NATO actions in Ukraine and the Russian response? We hear the stated motivations of all the countries involved but are there other more likely motivations that make more sense when we examine the geopolitics and the behavior of all parties past and present? Is our policy to deter or provoke Russia into an attack of Ukraine? If ‘defensive' missile systems in Poland and Romania are interchangeable with offensive nuclear armed missile systems should Russia be concerned? Would bringing Ukraine into NATO violate any US signed agreements? Do all countries have an inviolable right to seek national security as long as it does not endanger the national security of other countries? What are the parameters and signatories of the Minsk Treaty and who is promoting and who is inhibiting the actualization of the Peace plan? What type of rules-based order prioritizes the rights of some countries over others? What country has routinely broken treaties and broken WTO rules through sanctioning of other countries that do not follow its lead.

Is Russia Being the Aggressor or the Enemy of the Aggressor? US foreign policy since the turn of the century is reviewed. The reemergence of neo-Nazism in a European post WWII government is a result of a US enabled coup in Ukraine. Meanwhile our foreign policy outcome completely reversed the fortunes of Libyans and has brought back slavery to Libya post 2011. When you combine preinvasion sanctions with the 2003 US led invasion in Iraq the result of our foreign policy is more than a million Iraqis dead. The Syrian and Yemen interventions backed by US support has cost additional hundreds of thousands of deaths and two huge humanitarian disasters leading to millions of refugees. And when you account for the sanctions that the US has imposed upon more than one-third of the world's population the result is the responsibility for killing hundreds of thousands more fellow human beings. When it came to Syria, Russia said enough is enough. Yet most US citizens believe the world's greatest threat to human rights is Russia, and Vladimir Putin rather examining our own foreign policy outcomes and human rights record throughout the world. What is our geopolitical end game in the Ukraine that our policies are promoting? What would any leader do if its country's national security was being nearly completely compromised? Join us tonight as special guest Mike Whitney, investigative journalist, and geopolitical analyst, leads our discussion and provides insightful analysis for consideration as we try to seek to honestly sort out propaganda from reasonable understandings based on an honest interpretation of history. We also examine the real world geopolitical national security interests that all nations are entitled to and expected to seek out on behalf of their fellow citizens. We also challenge whether our foreign policy seeks to promote democracy or maintain and expand a false perception that we are the exceptional leader of the world rather than examine our own track record and question if it more closely resembles imperial desires to dominate the world's economy as the self-declared world's unipolar power.

Much like a 40-year-old man trying to impress the friends of his new 22-year-old girlfriend, the IOC is rolling out a bunch of ‘rad' new sports at Tokyo 2020.But why does everything have to be new? Broadcast dollars, mainly. But it's not the IOC's most desperate cash grab: that was Paris 1900, which included highly marketable sports such as live pigeon shooting and poodle clipping.Karate's in at Tokyo, and that makes sense, but what the actual fuck is 'Sport Climbing'? Independence Day symbolizes worldwide the success of the American revolution and the independence from the tyranny of the British crown. We examine post WWII US foreign policy interventions and discover a disturbing but common theme consistent from Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, Syria, (Yemen) and the result of millions of deaths and tens of millions displaced persons. Yet most American citizens have been indoctrinated to believe the greatest problem facing peace on earth is the aggression or human rights violations of ‘other nations'. On Independence Day weekend we critically examine the integrity of the US stated, ‘war on terror'. We examine the politics and history connecting all these themes with special guest and distinguished investigative journalist Mike Whitney. Please tune in weekly to Bringing Light into Darkness, as this week we seek to examineand bring ‘honest light' to the increasing threat to promotion of war between the West and Russia. We critically consider whether it is US led NATO provocations or is it ‘Russian aggression' that bears greater responsibility for pushing the world towards a potential WWIII scenario. We invite you to juxtapose the ‘image making' created by mainstream media and our government claims, to the documented contradictions BLID brings to you each week for your considerations. Please join us as we seek to get at the truth of manmade generated forms of misery and build understandings towards dismantling different forms of oppression through revealing behaviors and outcomes that are contrary to social justice and fairness yet are routinely absent from mainstream news generated ‘closed universe of discourse'.
Bringing Light Into Darkness (BLID) guest, investigative journalist Mike Whitney, has a proven record of a very high geopolitical acumen and shares his analysis of unfolding events in Syria and the Ukraine. We start the show with an overview of a presentation by Richard H. Black former Virginia State Senator for 8 years until 2020 and retired colonel Vietnam veteran who served in uniform for thirty-two years. The presentation was given at the March 20-21 (2021) Schiller Institute conference. Why did the distinguished veteran declare “I'm appalled by the indecency of American aggression towards Syria”? He makes and validates the following claims that most of the American public are unaware of; “We're told that we're fighting a war on terror, but we're not;” “We're closely allied with terrorists like al-Qaida”. These and other claims he backs up from personal knowledge as we shatter the mainstream dominant narrative that US foreign policy was about supporting moderate rebels in Syria. Please join us as Mike Whitney and Pedro Gatos have a wide ranging but focused discourse providing a practical and historically contexed geopolitical overview of the current state of US foreign policy initiatives in Ukraine and Syria, against the backdrop of Russia's perceived national security interests. The dominant media narrative is that Russia is the ‘aggressor nation”, however examining facts on the ground both past and present suggest a different and important perspective. Our BLID investigations are driven by well researched cross referenced factual claims regarding US foreign policy that for some may lead to uncomfortable discoveries. However, an informed US public cannot be achieved through any other means.
