This week on the KOKO Show we come to you from the glorious confines of the MJ Bale flagship store in Martin Place, Sydney. The lads are dressed to impress with some silky threads that lift the spirits and allow the human form to podcast like they have never podcasted before, all thanks to MJ Bale. We have arrived ladies and gentlemen, the first Test Match between the Lions and the Wallabies is soon upon us and the KOKO Crew couldn't be more up and about at the prospect of two great teams doing battle at Suncorp Stadium. To help us along this joyous journey, we have enlisted the help of two very special guests. The first has played over 90 caps for Wales and he was one of the brave men that took down the Wallabies in 2013, it is none other than Dr Jamie Roberts and the other is triple international, cross-code footy legend and rugby media's leading lady Allana Ferguson. Jamie joins the lads for the first half of the show to muse and discuss how both sides will shape up and prepare this week leading into the first Test. We discuss potential tactics, predicted sides and what the Lions will do to navigate this growing laundry list of injured players. Plus, ‘The King' sticks around to give us his ‘Perfect Pour' from the weekend just gone, all thanks to our headline sponsor Guinness, as well as playing a little game of ‘Which Lion Was it Anyway?'We have always said, when one guest leaves you replace them with someone better. Step to the fore Allana Ferguson. All thanks to our great friends at TAB, Allana joined the show to crunch the odds heading into the first Test Match this Saturday in Brisbane. Plus, she unleashes her depth of knowledge to give us a full wrap of the Wallaroos' encouraging loss to the Black Ferns in Wellington and how the ladies are shaping up with the Rugby World Cup on the horizon this August. So in summation, it is time to bloody lock in. We have waited 12 long years to get our chance at revenge against this crimson clad gaggle of geezers and let's not let this one slide. They have taken over our beaches, booked up our restaurants and are smugly drinking our beer. But they will never take our podcast! It is time for an all new episode of Kick Offs and Kick Ons. The Nard Dog along with the KOKO Crew go really deep on the Wallabies' last gasp win over the Flying Fijians in Newcastle, as well as breaking down the Lions' hard fought victory over the gallant Waratahs in an all new serving of the ‘Perfect Pour' thanks to our headline sponsor Guinness. Plus, the guys get caught up in the beauty of numbers as they preview all the upcoming matches on the British and Irish Lions Tour, focusing heavily on the Lions' clash with the Brumbies this Wednesday all thanks to our great mates at TAB. If you thought to yourself, that just doesn't seem to be enough footy for my liking, we also run you through the AUNZ Invitational XV that will take on the Lions this Saturday and the guys mount a case about how this star-studded roster might be the team to tame these freckle faced felines. Finally, to round out this pleasure packed pod of production perfection we couldn't help but bring back a second instalment of the highly anticipated game that is sweeping the nation 'Which Lion Was It Anyway?' In the late 1980s and early 1990s, rugby league was a code looking to expand nationally after the success of its premier competition in Sydney. Clubs emerged in Brisbane, Newcastle, and the Gold Coast. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation took the growth in the sport as an indication it ought to expand even further and plotted a coup, to take the running of the code out of the hands of the establishment - the Australian Rugby League. What followed was a war that ripped the sport apart with Murdoch on one side and the other, backed by another multi-millionaire media mogul, Kerry Packer. It was mogul against mogul, club against club, and players against players. In this episode of Judgements we take a deep dive on how and why the war began - and how the game came back together to form what is now the National Rugby League.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On 15 March 1877 play began between England and Australia in Melbourne. So began an extraordinary tradition of the finest form of sport: the Test Match. An incredible innovation that involved two teams playing cricket for up to nine days in one case, it is unique in sporting contests. However Test Cricket is bound up by Empire, class and race. Great teams have been barred from competing, and there have been moments of high controversy including Bodyline and the D 'Oliveira Affair. One thing remains constant: the England batting collapse. Joining today is cricket writer Tim Wigmore, journalist at the Telegraph and author of a wonderful new book, Test Cricket: A History. He joins to discuss all the above and more. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Jamie, Baldy and Stu discuss an eventful week, which saw the return of the IPL but not all its players, the Test cricket retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, squad news galore and some potential candidates emerge for the Black Caps coaching role. We start by talking about the IPL's resumption and the players such as Jos Buttler and Mitchell Starc who have decided not to return or will need to depart for the playoff stages as the international calendar fills up again. Does previous form go out the window? And how will teams manage the disruption? Next we discuss the Test Cricket retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Was it the right time? What legacy have they left? How will they be remembered? Who will replace them? And does their departure put Test cricket in danger? We round out the show by bouncing around a couple of upcoming Test matches - England's first match of the summer, against Zimbabwe, and the World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa - as well as the latest reports emerging about the Black Caps' coaching search.
