From major entertainment headlines to real talk about respect and legacy, this episode of the show brings a mix of celebration and controversy that keeps listeners locked in. The conversation then shifts to sports and media, where Jason Whitlock’s harsh criticism of Angel Reese sparks backlash on-air, with the crew defending her talent and calling out the broader issue of how Black athletes — especially women — are scrutinized and discussed in mainstream media. Meanwhile, Lauryn Hill opens up about why she hasn’t released another studio album since her iconic debut, explaining that she hasn’t always felt safe or supported in the industry to create freely, highlighting the pressures and lack of control artists often face behind the scenes. The show also delivers a powerful moment of celebration as Rickey Smiley is officially inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame, reflecting on decades of dedication, mentorship, and the discipline required to succeed in radio. We discuss the news about Iron Maiden finally getting inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame!
Rather than answers, this celebrates curiosity and openness. It affirms that becoming isn't about arriving, it's about staying awake to possibility. Core question: What does "more" mean to you now, and how will you make room for it? Today, on Notable Leaders' Radio, I speak with Stefoni Rossiter, retired educator, caregiver, and creative spirit. She shares how this season of transition has opened the door to deeper self-trust, creativity, and a more compassionate way of becoming. In today's episode, we discuss: Pay attention to what has always drawn you in. The things we were naturally curious about early in life often still point toward what matters most to us now. Looking back can help you notice patterns you may have overlooked and reconnect with parts of yourself that are still waiting to be used. Creativity does not have an expiration date. Whether it is sketching, journaling, cooking, gardening, writing, or building something with your hands, trying something new can open up a different kind of confidence. You do not need to be an expert to benefit from creativity. Your role can change without your value changing. A transition like retirement, caregiving, or a career shift can leave you wondering who you are without your old responsibilities. Identity can expand, and a new season does not erase the impact of the one before it. Self-care can be practical and personal. It does not have to look fancy to matter. For Stefoni, routines, movement, reading, gardening, and creative time all help her stay grounded, and that is a good reminder that self-care works best when it actually fits your life. You do not have to do it perfectly to do it well. Stefoni's willingness to try, fail, adjust, and keep going is part of what makes her story so relatable. That same mindset can help anyone loosen their grip on perfection and make room for growth. Jen Garrett sits down with seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson, to explore his remarkable journey from a one-way ticket to North Carolina at eighteen to becoming one of motorsports' most successful and respected figures. Beyond the checkered flags and championships, Jimmie opens up about building a winning culture, transitioning from driver to team owner at Legacy Motor Club, and the power of authentic relationships in achieving sustained excellence. This episode also takes a special turn as Jimmie discusses the upcoming Anduril 250 "Race the Base" in San Diego. For Jimmie, returning to his hometown to race on an active military base at Naval Base Coronado is a "bucket-list" full-circle moment. He shares his excitement for this historic weekend—celebrating the U.S. Navy’s 250th anniversary in his own backyard and how he's using his "Legacy" to bridge the history of the sport with its innovative future. About Jimmie: Jimmie Johnson is a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, tied with Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for the most championships in the sport’s history. He remains the only driver to win five consecutive Cup titles — a historic run from 2006 to 2010 that redefined sustained excellence in modern motorsports. Inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024, Johnson has evolved from championship driver to team leader and owner of Legacy Motor Club, continuing to shape the future of the sport from the ownership level. After stepping away from full-time NASCAR competition following the 2020 season, Jimmie embraced a new competitive chapter in the NTT INDYCAR Series, earning 2022 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honors. In 2009, he became the only race car driver in history to be named Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year — recognition that placed him among the most accomplished athletes across all sports. Beyond competition, Johnson and his wife, Chandra, founded the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in 2006. With a focus on strengthening public education and supporting families in need, the foundation has directed more than $13 million to schools and charitable initiatives nationwide. In 2026, Johnson continues to compete in select NASCAR Cup Series events, driving the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE. Key Takeaways:- Success isn't just about talent—it's about surrounding yourself with the right people- Trust and authentic relationships are the foundation of winning cultures- Your "delayed arrival" might be your greatest strength- You can be both competitive and kind; integrity isn't weakness- Building a legacy means thinking beyond personal achievement- Face-to-face connection beats any digital alternative STAY CONNECTED WITH JIMMIE:

If you're tired of stitching together a pricey, time-sucking podcast stack, you'll love this. Nathan Gwilliam is a serial entrepreneur whose latest exit was Adoption.com. After hosting 350+ episodes on digital monetization, he found the typical toolkit fragmented and costly—around two grand a month—and built PodUp, an AI-powered, single-login platform with 50+ integrated tools to create, grow, and monetize. For time-strapped teams, he also started PodAllies, a done-for-you agency that handles production and marketing once you hit stop. Today, Nathan shares how to go from fragmented to frictionless—and scale your show at a fraction of the cost.Nathan Gwilliam is a serial entrepreneur who has created and sold 3 digital ventures. His most recent exit was Adoption.com, which was the world's most-visited adoption site. After selling Adoption.com Nathan started hosting a podcast about digital monetization, where he published more than 350 episodes. After a few months of publishing audio, video, biogs, social, a website and a newsletter for his show, Nathan realized he was doing it the hard way. Nathan needed more than 30 different technologies that cost nearly $2,000 per month. Those technologies were missing a lot of the functionality he needed, and they had very little integration. He felt like he was duct-taping them together. And, they took way too much time and effort. Even after recording and editing the content, Nathan still had to pay someone 4 hours per day to syndicate the content. Nathan realized the need to solve this problem by creating the all-in-one podcasting platform. Roland Martin is one of the most influential and successful figures in the history of professional bass fishing. A nine-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year and winner of 19 Bassmaster tournaments (19 times runner up as well), Martin helped define competitive bass fishing during its formative decades. Known for his versatility, consistency, and deep understanding of bass behavior, he was a dominant force across multiple fisheries and techniques. Beyond competition, Martin expanded the sport's reach through television, most notably as the longtime host of Fishing with Roland Martin, educating and inspiring generations of anglers. Inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, his legacy extends far beyond trophies—he is widely regarded as a pioneer who helped turn bass fishing into a modern professional sport. Martin's impact goes well beyond his tournament resume. He developed a scientific, pattern-based approach to bass fishing that was far ahead of its time. Roland became known for adapting quickly to changing conditions and mastering a wide range of techniques, from shallow vegetation to offshore structure. His sustained success helped him become one of the first professional bass anglers to exceed one million dollars in career tournament prize money, a milestone that reflected both his dominance and longevity in the sport. Off the water, Martin played a major role in shaping bass fishing's legacy and credibility. He became the first angler ever inducted into all three major fishing halls of fame: the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) Fishing Hall of Fame, and the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. Through television, seminars, and decades of competition across multiple generations, Martin helped elevate bass fishing into a modern professional sport. Today, he is remembered not just as a champion, but as a pioneer whose influence continues to define professional angling.
