Adam Peacock is joined by former England fast bowler Steve Harmison for the second edition of English Willow Talk. Harmison discusses all things Ashes, from his first series in 2002/03 - when he toured Australia and faced some of the game's greats - to his interactions with legends such as David Boon, Rod Marsh, and Steve Waugh. He reflects on the greatest player he ever played against, Ricky Ponting, and shares some of the best sledges he received from Australian crowds. Harmison delves into the greatest Test series of all time - the 2005 Ashes - when England secured a 2-1 victory. He discusses the preparation that went into the series, his deliveries that struck Ponting and Hayden, and taking the final wicket of Michael Kasprowicz in the second Test at Edgbaston. Harmison also shares what it was like to play alongside and against legends such as Andrew Flintoff, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, Kevin Pietersen, and many more. Of course, we also asked him about his moment to forget in 2006, when he bowled a wide to second slip in the first Test of the Ashes. Life has certainly been challenging for everyone, especially over the last few years. We've had to deal with the COVID pandemic, bushfires, the recent floods in Queensland and NSW as well as coping with news of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The media has also reported three deaths in a week of prominent Australians – Kimberley Kitching, (52) a senator in the Australian Parliament, Rod Marsh (73) and Shane Warne (52) both huge names in the world of cricket. A wake up call to all of us that life can be cut short by heart attack.I've had a couple of conversations with friends and we all agree that we feel guilty, because our lives are going well, yet others are experiencing devastation. In this week's Micro Monday's episode I discuss the importance of overcoming our ‘guilt' when life is going well and we see that for others life is devastating. During the episode I share ways toFind the balance between feeling empathy for others and still recognising the good things that you are experiencingResilienceTake that moment every day to find good in our life to maintain good mental health and wellbeingCelebrate the good moments despite all that is happening around usHow showing kindness and support to others can help youListen to my thoughts and I'd love to hear your comments. How are you feeling at the moment? It's been a very sad week in the cricket world, with the passing of both Rod Marsh and Shane Warne, but on the field it's been very busy. We start the show by discussing the last-over drama and excitement of the Women's World Cup so far. Deandra Dottin said 'give me the ball', Nat Sciver almost carried England to a record chase and the White Ferns overcame the weather and Bangladesh to pick up their first win of the tournament. As we move around the world, news of a drinks break in Pakistan wakes us from a near slumber as we talk through one of the more boring Test matches in recent memory. Then it's off to India to talk about an incredible individual performance from Ravindra Jadeja, which helped India seal a big win in Virat Kohli's 100th match. Will anyone ever again beat India in a Test series at home? There's also chat about Ben Stokes and his role in the upcoming West Indies v England series, a shout out for the Eden Park groundstaff and a few words remembering the impact Rod Marsh had on both Australian and English cricket. We'll be back in your feed next week to discuss the many different international series and tournaments going on around the world, and our IPL preview will follow soon after that. In the meantime, if you haven't already, please take the time to give us a like, follow, share or subscribe on all our channels (@toporderpod on https://twitter.com/Toporderpod (Twitter) and https://www.facebook.com/Toporderpod (Facebook), & @thetoporderpodcast on https://www.instagram.com/thetoporderpodcast/ (Instagram)) and a (5-Star!) review at your favourite podcast provider, or tell a friend to download. After a really sad weekend for Australian cricket Josh and The Producer are joined by Erik to remember the great Shane Warne and Rod Marsh. The test series in Pakistan has started with the first test being a very boring draw. The team discuss if pitches should have more life and who should be playing in the last two tests. NRL is back and so is our tipping competition (check details below). Round 1 is just around the corner so we go through all the games and put our tips in. For more NRL please have a listen to our NRL Preview Show. NRLW continued and Brisbane are still the team to beat. In other games the Dragons and Eels played in terrible conditions and put on a great show. Supercoach is back!! Both the Cup and Mug competitions are full so let the games begin. Good Luck to everyone in both these competitions. Supercars returned at Sydney Motorsport Park and wins to Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert on a very wet weekend. In EPL Manchester City just keep winning but Liverpool is staying close enough should they drop some games. Brighton just keeps losing and with a game against Liverpool this week things do not get any easier. MLB is still in lockout but an outcome looks like it may not be far away. The Producer wants to know who players in the MLB can't evolve their games. **Join our Tipping Competitions – Go to ESPN Footy Tips and search for Bats and Balls NRL/AFL tipping and join both these competitions** 0:00:00 - Cricket 0:31:41 – NRL & NRLW 0:42:30 - Supercoach 0:50:30 - Motorsport 0:57:30 – EPL 1:02:00 – MLB Lockout Twitter - @batsandballspod Brendan - @The Producer05 Josh - @PiesJosh Colbee - @colbee6ref Hammer - @notbatting11 Mendy - @BigMendy180 Darren - @Dazza_20 Erik - @ErikNielsen2759 Part of the Always Up Network Always Up Network - @AlwaysUpNetwork #AUN Email - batsandballspodcast@gmail.com facebook.com/batsandballspodcast http://batsandballspodcast.com/

Welcome to Monday Mentoring on The Today's Leader Podcast, Building Tomorrow's Best Leaders, Today. The last week has been a tough one for many Australians. The East Coast from Sydney through to the Sunshine Coast, has been hammered by flooding rains and many have felt the impacts of major flooding, sadly lives have been lost, many homes have been inundated and destroyed. It's been a harrowing time for many. While confronting and dealing with these disasters, two Aussie legends have passed away. Rod Marsh, the wicketkeeper from the golden years of the 70s and early 80s, when Australia and the West Indies held the forefront of world cricket. Graham Winter played 14 First Class Matches for South Australia between 1981/2 and 1983/4. He was a part of the successful Sheffield Shield winning team of 1981/2 and the Domestic One Day Title in 1983/4. His personal achievements include taking best figures of 7-65 against the West Indies. Graham retired from cricket and pursued a career in performance psychology which saw him working at the Australian Cricket Academy under Rod Marsh with some of the icons of Australian cricket such as Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist. He would later work with Australian Olympic teams including the memorable Sydney 2000 games. In our first episode of the Cricket Library Podcast for 2020 we discuss Graham's cricket career as well as delve into his learnings from working with elite athletes. Graham also provides insights into his latest book Mindful Cricket and how he has been helping players and coaches to implement these strategies to perform at their best. We trust you will learn plenty from our conversation with Graham Winter.
