debt ceiling talks end after briefly resuming, McCarthy's top negotiator says The debt limit negotiations between GOP negotiators and the White House ended Friday night with no progress after meeting for roughly an hour and a half. And there are no set plans for the next meeting, according to negotiators, who just left the Capitol. "At the direction of the Speaker of the House, we re-engaged, had a very, very candid discussion, talking about where we are, talking about where things need to be, what's reasonable and acceptable," Rep. Garret Graves of Louisiana said. Graves said "It's indefinite right now" when asked if talks plan to resume Friday tonight or Saturday. Russia may lack reserves to respond to Ukrainian counteroffensive: Officials Western officials said Russia's forces in Ukraine are so badly depleted that Russia may lack the reserves to effectively respond to a major counteroffensive from Ukrainian troops in the coming weeks. One official said Russia does not appear to have a dedicated reserve force to react to a major breakthrough from Ukraine. The assessment, given by Western officials speaking on condition of anonymity to reporters, suggested they back Ukraine's capacity to attempt an ambitious offensive soon and that the weakened state of Russian forces is increasingly favorable for it, although there was no certainty it would succeed. While the officials could not say when the counteroffensive would begin, they said the forces Ukraine has gathered and equipped with Western help are now at an "increasingly high level of readiness." Jim Brown, one of the NFL's all-time great running backs, has died at age 87 Jim Brown, a blazingly fast running back and a star of the Cleveland Browns in the 1950s and 60s, has died. The Hall of Famer was 87. His wife, Monique Brown, announced on Instagram that he "passed peacefully last night at our LA home." "To the world he was an an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken." NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called Brown a gifted athlete athlete and "one of the most dominant players to ever step on any athletic field." In a statement, he also singled out his involvement in the civil rights movement who became a forerunner and role model for athletes to become involved in social initiatives outside their sport. In his nine seasons playing for the Cleveland Browns, Brown established himself as one of the sport's all-time greats. But football merely was the start of a life filled with accomplishment....and controversy. New Mexico gunman died in hail of police gunfire, likely his grim and final wish, chief says A teenage gunman who killed three elderly women in New Mexico likely got his grim, final wish: to die at the hands of police, officials said. On Monday, at about 11 a.m. MT, 18-year-old Beau Wilson stepped out of his home and opened fire on neighboring houses and passing cars, police said. He was supposed to graduate from Farmington High School the next day. The rampage only ended when responding officers fatally shot Wilson in front of First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 713 N. Dustin Ave. Before officers cut him down, Wilson ditched his AR-15, one pistol, and a bulletproof vest, officials said. A doorbell camera also caught Wilson screaming "Come and kill me" during the barrage, police said. Today, I am joined by my good friend Monique Brown to chat about the double standards women face both in and outside of the church. Our conversation was sparked by the recent backlash that Chloe Hailey faced from participating in the #bussitchallenge. Regardless of your views on the challenge itself, I think it's safe to say that the bullying this young woman received from her fellow women was unacceptable. You won't want to miss this one

Today on the Selling U Podcast, we have Ms. Monique Brown, who is here to talk about all things customer service. She's not only an expert in the field, but she is a coach that helps entrepreneurs like yourself, improve their customer service journey. I think before having her on that I thought customer service was just something that happened after the sale but that is not the case. Customer service is not only what helps you get and bring people in the door, but it also helps you close those sales. It helps keep people happy and it helps them come back again. So I want you to start thinking of customer service as an overlay over your entire business. Monique is not only going to be able to tell you a lot of good information about that, but she has real applicable things that you can start putting into your business now to improve that process. Enjoy! About Monique: Monique Brown is a Customer Experience Strategist Coach and the Owner of Believing & Achieving Customer Service Consulting based in Atlanta, Georgia. Monique is a dedicated customer service professional trainer with over 20 years of experience teaching elite customer service/experience for one of the largest insurance companies in the U.S. She studied Communications and Marketing at Ursuline College which lead to her expertise and passion in teaching entrepreneurs and small business owners how to think outside the box and use elite customer service as a leverage to grow their business like the large companies have implemented already and succeeded with. She has perfected a "retention" strategy that will enable small businesses to build sustainable relationships with their customers which will lead to revenue growth, good reviews, and happy loyal customers. Monique teaches the philosophy "treat people the way that you want to be treated" to ensure that customers will have a positive, memorable, elite customer experience. https://www.facebook.com/moniquebrowncoach https://www.sarahmaedickinson.com/

Author Michelle DesPres is up first, and she has a great story to share. A certified clairvoyant, she talks about how one tells the real deal from the fakes. She's got a new book out called In "Intuitively You," and in this she breaks down the stereotypes that only certain people are gifted with intuition and teaches how intuition can be utilized in every situation. Kayce Stevens Hughlett lived her life in a successful career before one day deciding to give that up to pursue a new career as a life coach and author. Her new book “Soulstroller” follows her journey through family hardships, dramatic changes, and the new life she's created for herself. The music for this week's program is “Wishing You The Best” from Monique Brown, currently up for an 2019 LDM award and “Cry” by Lightly Plugged. Both are members of the International Singer Songwriters Association.
Dr. Brown talks about her journey into public health and her experiences along the way. She is a professor, researcher, owns a consulting business, and hosts a podcast. She is passionate about HIV research, mental health, trauma, and aging. She shares some valuable tips and advice for public health students, professionals, and those interested in starting a business. So be sure to listen to this full episode. I also want to point out that this interview was recorded when I was sick. Hopefully you’ll be able to move past the sound of my voice and just focus on the information that we actually discuss. I was worried that my congestion would be too much of a distraction, but my interview schedule is sometimes a little hard to maneuver and change and I knew it would be difficult to reschedule the interview. So, I decided to continue as planned. My editor said that I don’t sound too bad, but I just wanted to explain that ahead of time.
Racism isn't going to go away by itself. It takes intentionality, effort, help from programs like Arlington's Challenging Racism (challengingracism.org) and some degree of curiosity. With those, we can begin to question what we see, or don't see, of the systemic nature of racism. Monique Brown joins me for a second conversation about making progress toward an anti-racist world. For the first part of this conversation, listen to Choose to be Curious #15. Join us next time for our first anniversary show. Scott Nycum joins me to explore a theme that came up a lot in the last year: trust.
Once upon a time we were all curious... We take a trip back to early childhood to explore our innate curiosity as little "aggressive researchers" with Kate Graham, coordinator of Arlington Public Schools' Early Childhood and Pre-K Programs. My parents make a cameo appearance to answer that burning question, "Were you always curious?" Join us next time when we revisit Challenging Racism with Monique Brown for the second part of our conversation on using curiosity to explore and address racism. (Part 1 is available in episode #15)
What if you go somewhere familiar and choose to be curious? What more do you see, hear, taste and learn? We find out on this fun visit to Arlington Farmers Market at Court House. How to make soap, taste test olive oil, store mushrooms; where the best fruit grows; who plays the charango....and some of the stories behind all the people who make up the market. Come, choose to be curious! Join us next time when Monique Brown returns for a follow-up conversation about curiosity and challenging racism.
Challenging racism takes center stage in this provocative conversation about curiosity and race. Marty Swaim and Monique Brown bring their own insights and wisdom in exploring the impact of systemic racism and their efforts through Arlington's initiative to counter racism through stories and conversation. Truly: curiosity put to good purpose. For more information, visit www.challengingracism.org Join us next time when Jesse Robinson joins us to talk about curiosity and improv theater.
Monique Brown talks about coming to the University of Otago what she is studying.
