4:4 THSV11 “Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say: ‘No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.' (The primary purpose of reading the Bible is not to know the Bible but to know God. All the good from the savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.) (In teaching me the way of life, The Bible has taught me the way to live; It taught me how to die.) No other means is given by God to accomplish such a task. The Spirit of God, who is at work in the hearts of Christians, uses the Word of God to transform them into Christlike people.) Alan Redpath ก็ยืนยันความจริงนี้ ด้วยการกล่าวว่า ”ไม่มีผู้ใดสามารถใช้พระคัมภีร์ของเขาด้วยพลานุภาพ นอกจากว่าเขามีพระลักษณะของพระเยซูคริสต์อยู่ในหัวใจของเขา“ (No man can use his Bible with power unless he has the character of Jesus in his heart.) ดังนั้น ขอให้เราทำอย่างที่ Henrietta Mears แนะนำว่า “จงให้พระคัมภีร์ เติมความทรงจำ ปกครองนำหัวใจ และนำย่างเท้าของเราไป!“ (Let the Bible fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet.) (The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.)

There is a big distinction that we need to address in the area of kindness. Kindness is far more than being nice. Christians are called to show kindness in a world that often promotes meanness. But what is true kindness? How do we define it? What does it look like in everyday life? Join guest host Daniel Markin as he spends time with Nate Pickowicz, pastor of Harvest Bible Church, where they discuss his latest book called The Kindness of God. Nate shares a bit of his personal journey and unpacks key elements in his latest book to help us understand the true kindness of God and how to apply it to our everyday lives, especially in the midst of suffering.

You don't have to read too many headlines to realize we live in a world inundated with distressing news and heartbreaking situations. They wear on our souls and causes us to question God’s presence and purpose in our world. In The Kindness of God: Beholding His Goodness in a Cruel World, Nate Pickowicz reminds us that it was man’s sin and rebellious nature that separated us from a holy God who remains loving, merciful, and just. Kindness has fallen on hard times. And it begins to wear on a soul. Nate Pickowicz, Pastor and author of The Kindness of God: Beholding His Goodness in a Cruel World, says “When we lift our eyes to heaven and consider God’s purposes through the lens of Scripture, we quickly see the many-splendored ways that God demonstrates His kindness to us.” Also in the podcast, Perry is working through some scary news that just hit him this week. He’s not sure where it’s going to land. So he’s trying to be intentional about rooting himself in God’s promises. If you woke up tomorrow and your life was perfect what would be different? How you answer that question might reveal an idol in your life. Then, when Shawna vulnerably shared with a friend that she was feeling overwhelmed, her friend’s response made her feel even more alone. She took it to the Lord in prayer and he responded with the most beautiful truth and it was exactly what her heart needed. Perry shares, “There are times when painful emotions threaten to sweep me away. And what I’ve learned to do when that happens is not to stuff them andnot to trust them.” Then, when Shawna vulnerably shared with a friend that she was feeling overwhelmed, her friend’s response made her feel even more alone. In todays episode I will be responding to a popular holiness podcast that discusses holiness standards, specifically the issue of hair length for men and women. This particular episode was full of misleading, misogynistic, false, and sometimes outright cultish tactics. I pray this episode is a blessing and hopefully answers some common objections raised by fundamentalists preaching when it comes to this difficult passage. Three things to remember when reading this setting of Scripture are submission, distinction, and worship. The Bible is a book intended to be both read and studied. This is an example of a bad reading of scripture, leading to bad study, and ultimately bad conclusions. If you are interested in doing better study I have three book recommendations for you: "Exegetical Fallacies", DA Carson https://www.amazon.com/Exegetical-Fallacies-D-Carson-ebook/dp/B00CZALQ1A/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=exegetical+fallacies+by+d.a.+carson&qid=1676767460&sprefix=exegetical+%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-1 "How To Read Your Bible For All It's Worth", Gordon Fee, Douglas Stuart https://www.amazon.com/How-Read-Bible-All-Worth-ebook/dp/B00GS084YA/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=how+to+read+your+bible+for+all+its+worth&qid=1676768065&sprefix=how+to+read+your+bible+for%2Caps%2C305&sr=8-1 "How To Eat Your Bible", Nate Pickowicz https://www.amazon.com/How-Eat-Your-Bible-Approach/dp/B08ZWH9BJJ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=15DOL5S6SV2NZ&keywords=how+to+eat+your+bible&qid=1676768097&sprefix=how+to+eat+your+%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-1 Follow Us On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheLostMissionPodcast --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/don-vanzant/support
This is part 2 of "Spiritual Disciplines" and provides practical insights for studying the Bible and retaining what you study. Costi Hinn lays out several key principles, along with examples from some of his own study habits. The book recommendations in this episode are "How to Eat Your Bible" by Nate Pickowicz, and "God's Battle Plan for the Mind" by David W. Saxton.
There are not many books that NoCo reads in one sitting, but Nate’s account of RC’s theological battles is an exception. And it is exceptional. Nate’s church info: https://www.hbc-nh.org Nate’s RC book: https://www.amazon.com/R-C-Sproul-Defender-Reformed-Faith/dp/1774840383

We are so excited to be joined by pastor and author Nate Pickowicz to discuss the topic of his book, "How to Eat Your Bible". We KNOW we should be in the Word, and we KNOW it's spiritual food, but can we explain the WHY of any of it? Or what about the HOW? Pastor Pickowicz helps us think through these issues in this episode! The post How to Eat Your Bible with Nate Pickowicz appeared first on Sheologians.
