betrayal from peers in church leadership.That emotional wound led him to pull away and seek belonging in sports and party culture.This shift laid the groundwork for his eventual descent into substance use and spiritual drift.[24:23] Struggles with Addiction and Turning PointTommy began justifying casual partying, which escalated into drug dealing and daily alcohol use.A raid by federal agents became a wake-up call, but the pull of addiction remained strong.Panic attacks worsened his condition, and alcohol became his go-to form of self-medication.Despite several attempts to quit, nothing brought lasting freedom—until he cried out to God.[26:42] Egypt Mission Trip and Spiritual AwakeningTommy joined a mission trip to Egypt to support his mother's outreach to Muslim women.While caring for children there, he was struck by a deep conviction to return to a life of purpose.That moment reignited his faith, shifted his focus, and set him on a path of full sobriety.He returned home and committed to healing through a Christ-centered Celebrate Recovery program.[36:11] Supernatural Encounter in EgyptDuring a foot-washing ceremony, Tommy witnessed a woman visibly possessed and delivered through the name of Jesus.[39:47] Tommy: “Every time that something dark and scary would happen, witnessed by other people too, the power of the name of Jesus was enough to eradicate it and, and that's just so life-giving.”Later that night, he and his brother encountered a terrifying demonic presence outside their desert compound.Prayer in Jesus' name broke the oppression, revealing that when the demonic and divine encounter each other, the authority of Christ prevails over darkness.These spiritual battles confirmed the reality of unseen warfare—and the power believers carry.[47:49] Territorial Spirits and the Battle Over RegionsTommy and Reagan reflect on how demonic strongholds operate not just personally, but over entire regions.In spiritually charged areas like the Middle May the Lord restore me; it is He alone who can bring me with weeping and supplication to His footstool. Alas! alas! how little reason have I to hope that I am a Christian indeed. Oh, for a closer walk with God!

It is also used to depict individuals who hold the highest and loftiest position of rank and authority. By using the word archai, Paul emphatically tells us that at the very top of Satan's kingdom are powerful evil beings that have held their lofty positions of power and authority since ancient times — probably ever since the fall of Lucifer.Paul goes on to tell us that below principalities is a second group of evil beings he refers to as “powers.” This word “powers” is taken from the Greek word exousia, and it denotes delegated authority. This describes a lower, second-level group of evil beings — demon spirits — who have received delegated authority from Satan to carry out all manner of evil in whatever way they desire to do it. These evil forces are second in command in Satan's dark kingdom.Continuing in his description of Satan's rank and file in descending order, Paul mentions “the rulers of the darkness of this world.” This amazing phrase is taken from the word kosmokrateros and is a compound of the words kosmos and kratos. The word kosmos denotes order or arrangement, whereas the word kratos has to do with raw power. Thus, the compounded word kosmokrateros depicts raw power that has been harnessed and put into some kind of order.This word kosmokrateros was at times used to picture military training camps where young men were assembled, trained, and turned into a mighty army. These young men were like raw power when they first arrived in the training camp. However, as the military training progressed and the new recruits were taught discipline and order, all that raw manpower was converted into an organized, disciplined army. This is the word Paul now uses in his description of Satan's kingdom. What does it mean? As we delve deeper into the month of October, I've been exploring ways to connect our podcast topics with the themes of this spooky season. Today, I want to share a personal experience that inspired our latest episode and offer some insights into the powerful lessons we can learn from fear and darkness.Recently, I attended a church sermon that focused on the themes of Darkness and Fear. What struck me was when the pastor asked us to keep our eyes closed throughout the entire sermon. It was a simple yet profound exercise. By eliminating the visual stimuli, it brought a new level of focus to the words spoken. It left me feeling a bit dizzy and disoriented when I finally opened my eyes, realizing how little time we actually spend with our eyes closed, awake and sitting up. It got me thinking about the importance of sensory experiences and how they influence our perception of the world.They say that blind people often have sharper hearing and vice versa, as they must rely more on the senses they have. This made me ponder the lessons that fear and darkness can teach us. As Theodore Roethke wisely said, "In a dark time, the eye begins to see." Fear and darkness can be powerful teachers if we allow ourselves to learn from them.In our latest podcast episode, we explore the following lessons:1. Survival and Evolution: Fear is an innate human emotion that has evolved to help us survive. It triggers the "fight or flight" response, alerting us to potential dangers. In this way, fear has played a crucial role in the survival of our species.2. Personal Growth: Overcoming fear and facing darkness can lead to personal growth and self-discovery. Confronting our fears and challenges can help us develop resilience, courage, and a greater understanding of ourselves.3. Spiritual Growth: In spiritual darkness, moments of doubt, crisis, or questioning can lead to profound spiritual growth and transformation.
