DeVotchka has been a mainstay Colorado band for almost two decades. Known for their quirky instrumentalism and playful storytelling, their art has been celebrated beyond concert venues and has dazzled audiences in the theatre and on the big screen. Now, DeVotchKa takes on a new venture: performing alongside the Boulder Philharmonic. As a composer, Nick, front man of the internationally acclaimed band DeVotchKa has scored such films as Little Miss Sunshine, the Sundance hit that garnered four Oscar nominations. Nick's other scores include Fling, I Love You Phillip Morris, The Joneses, Father of Invention. Nick also co-scored the hit romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love (starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Julianne Moore) and scored Dustin Lance Black's haunting directorial debut Virginia (starring Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris). Nick's more recent work includes the score for the Stephen Gyllenhaal comedy Grassroots and Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris's film, Ruby Sparks.
