With the Saints in kind of a "holding pattern" in their HC search/awaiting the conclusion of the Super Bowl to announce the expected hire of Kellen Moore, a national news bombshell blew up right on the doorstep of Airline Drive. So, we touch on the recent church scandal email release, how it's different from the news that came out a few years back, and what it may mean (or not mean) for the team as a whole. Either way, we all agree, it's something the team should have never gotten involved in and really fouled things up once they did.Aside from that, we dive into another discussion of Saints 2025 draft strategy, especially after the conclusion of the Senior Bowl in Mobile. A quick look on who stood out from that week, whether it changes the prospects we like for the team. But overall, we focus in more specifically on who we each would like to ideally see the Saints go with at pick No. 9 and how that contributes to the efforts to re-build the roster and later picks in the draft. This one's definitely worth a listen. Are you ever accused of being unrealistic? Of simply having a positive frame of mind, saying in the face of all the evidence, in spite of the dangers and the evils in this life, that everything is going to be alright? Well, some Christians do think this way. But it's true, there really is nothing that can separate us from Christ. Tune in this week to the Bible Study Hour as Dr. Boice tells us that nothing will separate us from Gods love. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/81/29

How has the intersection between religious and racial politics shaped the landscape of public education in the United States? How have communities, both past and present, historically resisted covert and overt white Christian supremacy in public education? What lessons can radical pedagogues draw from these movements today? Our September 2024 episode features Dr. Leslie Ribovich, a scholar of American religion, religion, and education. Her book, Without a Prayer: Religion and Race in New York City Public Schools (NYU Press, 2024), is illuminating reading for anyone seeking to understand the entangled histories — and surprising consequences and reverberations — of the simultaneous legal desegregation and legal secularization of public school classrooms. From the moral codes underwriting racist school discipline policies, to presumptive Protestant norms governing moral education programs, to grassroots community movements to build more equitable and just public education systems, Without a Prayer offers key context to understanding contemporary battles over the future of public education policy. Read an excerpt here.Leslie Ribovich is currently the Director of the Greenberg Center for Public Life at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where she is also an Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Law and Public Policy. She is working on a second project about forms of moral and character education in modern U.S. history.CREDITSCo-hosts: Tina Pippin and Lucia HulsetherEditor, Audio Engineer, and composer of outro music: Aliyah HarrisSummer 2024 Intern: Ella StuccioTheme music by Lance Haugen and Aviva and the Flying PenguinsSupport us on Patreon!

Neil Theise joins me to talk about his book Notes on Complexity: A Scientific Theory of Connection, Consciousness, and Being. As a liver pathologist gazing daily through his microscope, Neil lives in an ongoing liminal state between scales: the micro cellular and the macro organismic. How is it, he asks, that any given "thing" seems to disappear when you zoom in or out? Neil brings a complexity science lens to this issue of lensing, which he synthesizes with his longterm practice of Zen meditation to interesting conclusions. Is this processual "no-thing-ness" what the Buddhists speak of as "emptiness"? What is the "I" if it can be similarly deconstructed? What insights can meditation add to the metaphysical picture once we appreciate the limits of other ways of knowing? 0:00 Introduction 0:57 Spark-'Notes on Complexity' 4:30 Neil's Interdisciplinary Background 14:33 Body or Cells? #SundaySermon #Church #JESUS #SetApart #WhollyHoly #Gospel #InChrist #Victory This sermon was preached at Crosswater Community Church in Sultan, WA on 6/23/24 As followers of Jesus, we are called to be 'Set Apart' from the ways of the world, pursuing holiness as we live by HIS grace, for HIS glory, and in HIS power to bring about HIS Kingdom in and through HIS people. We are Set Apart for a purpose, to intentionally live lives of obedient faith and holiness for the sake of HIS name among all the nations. The confidence of the almighty GOD being for us is to give us strength, hope and assurance in HIM to follow HIM. Nothing can or does defeat HIM nor can separate us from HIS love if we are in HIM. Radiating out with God's expansive embrace, the Way of Resurrection unfolds in the complexity of human relationship – in the complexity of community.
In the Way of Resurrection, the Spirit radiates out in ever-expanding circles of embrace. In the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch, we see that God welcomes everyone all the way in.
Commonly we talk about God as omnipresent, present everywhere. Scripture even says that God is in hell, Sheol, the realm of the dead. But then we flip into language of those in Christ and out of Christ or Christ in some but not others. There is objective truth of Christ being in all and all being in Christ and there is subjective experience of separation. Join me for this life-giving message! In Romans 8, Paul opens and closes the chapter with two important exhortations: (1) There is no condemnation and (2) There is no separation from the love of God for those who are in Christ Jesus. Too many Christians still walk around under the heavy weight of condemnation, shame, and guilt. In addition, some Christians believe the lie that God doesn't really love them. In this study, Pastor Gary exposes the lies we believe from either Satan, others, or ourselves. Follow along in today's study entitled, "No Condemnation, No Separation."

Navigating Life's Trials with Hope: The Triumph of Romans 8Romans 8 stands as one of the most profound and comforting chapters in the entire Bible, offering deep theological insights and practical encouragement. Written by the Apostle Paul, it addresses the struggles and sufferings Christians face, providing a theological framework for understanding suffering, the Holy Spirit's role, and the assurance of God's love and ultimate victory in Christ. The Life-Giving Spirit (Romans 8:1-11)Paul opens with a powerful declaration of freedom from condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. This freedom is not merely legal; it's transformational, rooted in the life-giving Spirit who empowers believers to live under God's desires rather than being enslaved to sin. Paul contrasts the mindset of the flesh, which leads to death, with the mindset of the Spirit, resulting in life and peace. This section emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit in enabling believers to fulfil the righteous requirement of the law. Adoption as Children of God (Romans 8:12-17)One of the most tender images Paul uses in Romans 8 is that of adoption. Believers are not just forgiven; they are welcomed into God's family as children and heirs, assured of sharing in Christ's glory. This adoption comes with the intimate privilege of calling God "Abba, Father," and it stands as a testament to the believer's secure relationship with God, despite suffering and hardship.Suffering and Future Glory (Romans 8:18-25)Paul does not shy away from the reality of suffering in the Christian life. However, he places it within the context of future glory, promising that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed. He describes all of creation as groaning in anticipation of this future redemption, including believers who have the first fruits of the Spirit. This section fosters hope and patience, anchoring believers in the promise of resurrection and the restoration of all things. The Intercession of the Spirit (Romans 8:26-27) Acknowledging human weakness, Paul introduces the comforting truth that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness, interceding for us with groanings too deep for words. This divine assistance in prayer assures believers that their deepest needs and unutterable longings are brought before God, even when they don't know how to pray. God's Sovereign Purpose (Romans 8:28-30)One of the chapter's most quoted verses, Romans 8:28, reassures believers that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Paul outlines the golden chain of redemption—from foreknowledge to glorification—highlighting God's sovereign and gracious work in saving His people. No Separation from God's Love (Romans 8:31-39) The chapter culminates in a triumphant affirmation of the believer's security in God's love. Paul rhetorically asks who can be against us, who can charge or condemn us, and who can separate us from the love of Christ. He answers with the assurance that nothing in all creation can separate believers from God's love in Christ Jesus our Lord. This passage offers profound comfort and encouragement, emphasizing the invincible nature of God's love toward His children. Contemporary Application: Anchored in Hope and Love Romans 8 speaks powerfully to modern believers, offering hope amid suffering, assurance of God's indwelling Spirit, and the invincible love of God in Christ. It encourages Christians to live by the Spirit, to embrace their identity as God's children, and to look forward to the future glory promised to them. In a world fraught with uncertainty and pain, Romans 8 stands as a beacon of hope, affirming that in Christ, we are more than conquerors. Conclusion: The Victory of Romans 8Romans 8 offers a comprehensive vision of the Christian life, marked by freedom, adoption, hope, intercession, and overwhelming love. It reassures believers of their place in God's grand narrative of redemption, encouraging them to persevere in faith, buoyed by the promise of God's unfailing love and the ultimate triumph that awaits in Christ.
Your greatest evidence of your faith of God and your relationship with God is not your transformed lifestyle. The overwhelming emphasis is not on your morality, its on his love.Discussion Questions:1. How can we help remind each other that God promised to show up for us?2.
