Nothing can separate us from Jesus' love…. And I mean nothing! That's the glorious reality we'll unpack today on Sound Doctrine, as we make a return visit to Romans chapter eight. No one likes to fail. We tend to take it very, very personally, don't we? Satan sees a real opportunity when we fail. He loves to whisper in our ear words of condemnation! Loser! You can't accomplish anything! But God on the other hand wants us to hear His truth at such times! That truth is this - He cannot fail. He won't leave you, and nothing can separate you from His love! "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing it will be; when we all see Jesus we'll sing and shout the victory." Although we sing this hymn in church with a note of triumph, many Christians may still be filled with fear and uncertainty at the thought of death. Dr. Barnhouse examines what the Bible teaches about the death of believers and the confidence that is ours in the love of God. Conjoined or Siamese twins often face death unless doctors can find a way to separate them. In contrast, believers would face eternal death if the devil could find a way to separate us from the Lord, but the love of Christ is so deep that nothing can ever separate us from Him when we are joined to Him by faith! Dr. Barnhouse shares these words of encouragement from Romans 8:35. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/791/29?v=20251111

Audio from 11.05.25 Midweek Student Worship Service. The title of this message is "No Separation from God's Love" from Romans 8:31-39. This is the fourth and final sermon of the 4 part sermon series titled "Life In The Spirit: Life The Way God Meant It." The main idea of this message is that life in the Spirit means living with unshakeable confidence that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Lisa McFarland: "In the last couple of years, I have been able to pull away from the experiences of being human. There are so many things that we take to be real and are attached to. As we move to a broader view of things it becomes very obvious that there's a life force that unites everything that is alive. Realizing that we all started in the same place has, for me, become a more robust way of feeling connected to everything. My father was an entrepreneur and he still is at almost 85, working 60 hours a week. So I grew up in that environment. I wanted to emulate his entrepreneurial spirit. I never felt particularly creative, but I felt that sense of needing to perform, certainly in sports and playing instruments. So, there was not a sense of connectedness. It was more that sense of inching ahead. What's everyone else doing around me? What do I need to do to keep that edge, assuming that I ever had it, which I probably didn't.I had more of a sense of competition, which did create that feeling of being separate. That sense of ‘competition' didn't allow for a sense of connection.”*Have a listen as I interview my special guest Lisa McFarland.Find out how to connect more with your “humanness”.
As the chapter began with a strong declaration that no believer can ever be—or will ever be—condemned, so it ends with this wondrously comforting truth that nothing can possibly separate us from God's love.

This message focuses on vs 31-39, emphasizing the comforting truth of the Divine Preservation of the Saints, or the doctrine of eternal security. God's elect ones are safe in His love. With the Saints in kind of a "holding pattern" in their HC search/awaiting the conclusion of the Super Bowl to announce the expected hire of Kellen Moore, a national news bombshell blew up right on the doorstep of Airline Drive. So, we touch on the recent church scandal email release, how it's different from the news that came out a few years back, and what it may mean (or not mean) for the team as a whole. Either way, we all agree, it's something the team should have never gotten involved in and really fouled things up once they did.Aside from that, we dive into another discussion of Saints 2025 draft strategy, especially after the conclusion of the Senior Bowl in Mobile. A quick look on who stood out from that week, whether it changes the prospects we like for the team. But overall, we focus in more specifically on who we each would like to ideally see the Saints go with at pick No. 9 and how that contributes to the efforts to re-build the roster and later picks in the draft. This one's definitely worth a listen. Are you ever accused of being unrealistic? Of simply having a positive frame of mind, saying in the face of all the evidence, in spite of the dangers and the evils in this life, that everything is going to be alright? Well, some Christians do think this way. But it's true, there really is nothing that can separate us from Christ. Tune in this week to the Bible Study Hour as Dr. Boice tells us that nothing will separate us from Gods love. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/81/29

How has the intersection between religious and racial politics shaped the landscape of public education in the United States? How have communities, both past and present, historically resisted covert and overt white Christian supremacy in public education? What lessons can radical pedagogues draw from these movements today? Our September 2024 episode features Dr. Leslie Ribovich, a scholar of American religion, religion, and education. Her book, Without a Prayer: Religion and Race in New York City Public Schools (NYU Press, 2024), is illuminating reading for anyone seeking to understand the entangled histories — and surprising consequences and reverberations — of the simultaneous legal desegregation and legal secularization of public school classrooms. From the moral codes underwriting racist school discipline policies, to presumptive Protestant norms governing moral education programs, to grassroots community movements to build more equitable and just public education systems, Without a Prayer offers key context to understanding contemporary battles over the future of public education policy. Read an excerpt here.Leslie Ribovich is currently the Director of the Greenberg Center for Public Life at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where she is also an Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Law and Public Policy. She is working on a second project about forms of moral and character education in modern U.S. history.CREDITSCo-hosts: Tina Pippin and Lucia HulsetherEditor, Audio Engineer, and composer of outro music: Aliyah HarrisSummer 2024 Intern: Ella StuccioTheme music by Lance Haugen and Aviva and the Flying PenguinsSupport us on Patreon!

In Romans 8, Paul opens and closes the chapter with two important exhortations: (1) There is no condemnation and (2) There is no separation from the love of God for those who are in Christ Jesus. Too many Christians still walk around under the heavy weight of condemnation, shame, and guilt. In addition, some Christians believe the lie that God doesn't really love them. In this study, Pastor Gary exposes the lies we believe from either Satan, others, or ourselves. Follow along in today's study entitled, "No Condemnation, No Separation."
