Amazing Love John 15:13, 1 John 4:10, Romans 5:8, 1 Peter 1:18–19Jesus laid down his life for us on the cross to demonstrate and magnify God's love for us. The CrossIn the ancient world, the cross was a symbol of shame, death, and defeat. Among the Jewish people, anyone who died on a cross was considered cursed by God, and the Romans viewed those who were crucified with contempt. This is why the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:23, “but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.” Even today, the cross remains difficult for many to understand. Yet, the cross stands at the center of God's redemptive plan and the very heart of the gospel. Every believer knows Jesus died for them on the cross, but even for people of faith, its meaning can be challenging to fully grasp. Further, scripture describes the work of Christ on the cross in several different ways, adding complexity to our endeavors to understand it. With this series, we will examine key biblical passages that illuminate these different dimensions of the cross and help us to grow a deeper and fuller understanding of its profound significance.Orchard Community Church8180 Telephone RdVentura CA 93004www.OrchardVentura.orgContact us at Info@OrchardVentura.orgOrchard's Streaming and Song Select CCLI# 160190
Love That Wouldn't Let Go #RTTBROS #Nightlight"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." — John 15:13Yesterday in church, my pastor, James Hardy, prayed something that stopped me in my tracks. He said, "Thank you for loving us so much that you would rather die than live without us." I had to write that down because it captured something about the heart of God that we too often miss.We talk about Christ's sacrifice, and we should. We sing about the old rugged cross, and rightly so. But sometimes I wonder if we really grasp what was going on in the heart of God when Jesus went to Calvary. This wasn't just a transaction, some cosmic deal to satisfy divine justice. This was love, desperate love, the kind of love that would rather suffer unimaginable agony than spend eternity without you and me.Think about that for a minute. God looked at humanity, looked at all our mess and rebellion and brokenness, and instead of walking away, He said, "I'd rather die than lose them." That's not the picture of an angry God reluctantly appeasing His own wrath. That's the picture of a Father who loves His children so much that He gave everything to bring them home. You know, when you really love someone, you can't imagine life without them. Their absence would leave a hole nothing else could fill. That's what Pastor Hardy's prayer reminded me of. God loves us like that. He looked at the cost of redemption, the humiliation, the suffering, the separation from the Father that Jesus would endure on that cross, and He said, "It's worth it. They're worth it."The Bible tells us in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." While we were still sinners. Not after we cleaned up our act. Not when we finally got it together. He died for us when we were at our worst because He couldn't bear the thought of eternity without us.I'm too soon old and too late smart about a lot of things, but this truth keeps getting deeper the longer I walk with Jesus. His love isn't just powerful, it's personal. It's not just sacrificial, it's passionate. He would rather die than live without you.So when you're feeling unworthy today, when you're wondering if God really cares about your struggles, remember this: He already proved how much you matter to Him. The cross wasn't Plan B. It was love's first choice.Let's pray: Father, thank You for loving us so much that You would rather die than live without us. Help us grasp the depth of that love and live in the light of it today. In Jesus' name, Amen.#Faith #GodsLove #CrossOfChrist #DailyDevotion #ChristianLiving #BiblicalWisdom #SpiritualGrowth #RTTBROS #NightlightBe sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.https://linktr.ee/rttbros

God's love is fundamentally different from human love because it's permanent, unchanging, and flows from His very nature rather than being an emotion. Psalm 36 contrasts the darkness of wickedness with the magnificent reality of God's steadfast love, described as extending to the heavens and serving as our refuge. David shows us that God is the fountain of life itself, providing protection under His wings and inviting us to feast at His table. Christmas represents the ultimate expression of this divine love through God sending His Son to walk among us. We're called to accept this undeserved love and become channels of it to others, reflecting the same loyal, enduring love that God shows us.
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
As John continues his discussion about love, we see love described in two ways: (1) as a command, (2) as a sign. Why? Because amazingly, God loves *us*. We see the extent of God's love for us when we look at Jesus and the cross. For those of us who believe in Him and confess […]

Continuing with our study of 1st John, Pastor Dustin Clegg walks us through 1 John 2:3 - 11 and shares three observations from the text:1) Command keeping is not about prideful, religious duty, but about humble, quiet confidence in the King. (1 John 2:3)2) There is major potential that we have bought into some lie. (1 John 2:4-6)3) The church of Jesus is meant to be His continued life and ministry in this broken world. (1 John 2:6)Let's be real. Consider all of your opinions and everything everyone has ever told you that isn't Biblical and crush it all at the altar.

Mark Booker | John 18:1 - 19:37 | Who is on the cross and what does he have to do with me? Through the lens of the Gospel according to John, this sermon explores how Jesus' death was not merely a tragic event but a deliberate act of divine love—bringing cleansing, liberation, and abundant life to all who recognize the personal nature of His sacrifice.
There is a kind of love that breaks every yoke and limitation. A love so vast, so incomprehensible, that human understanding cannot contain it. This is the love of God—the love of the Father for His children. And today, as we approach Passover, I want to remind us of the greatest expression of love, the love that Jesus our Lord demonstrated on the cross when He laid down His life for us.

Kendrick Diaz discusses 1 John 3:1-3—“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
