Nikki G. Mouton, previously from Frisco Independent Schools in Texas, becomes Gwinnett County Public Schools' deputy superintendent of academic services. Jewelle L. Harmon, formerly with the Kent School District in Washington, assumes the role of chief accountability officer. GCPS Chief Business Operations Officer Walt Martin has been reclassified as deputy superintendent of operational services, while Director of Early Learning and School Readiness Kim Holland now holds the title of executive director of early learning and school readiness. Mouton and Harmon both return to GCPS for their second stints. Martin and Holland, with extensive service records in the district, also have reclassified roles. ..………….. read more at gwinnettdailypost.com   STORY 2: program The Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education at Georgia Gwinnett College is recruiting volunteers for a 10-week exercise program aimed at enhancing exercise science students' practical skills. Volunteers will undergo pre- and post-training fitness assessments, covering aspects like blood pressure, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, balance, and flexibility. The program involves a personalized 10-week fitness training plan, with sessions lasting about an hour, held on Mondays and Wednesdays from September 6 to November 16, between 5 and 6 p.m. Healthy adults without major health conditions can apply by contacting the department at exscpracticum@ggc.edu before August 30th. Story 3: project Vietnam War veteran Louis Zayas, a Lawrenceville resident, has been chosen as a 2023 Purple Heart Patriot Project honoree. He will represent Georgia in a tribute to combat wounded individuals at the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor near West Point, New York. Zayas, a former U.S. Army member, will participate in an all-expense-paid trip, including visits to historic sites and the U.S. Military Academy. The Patriot Project aims to recognize and salute Purple Heart veterans who have sacrificed for the nation's freedom. We'll be right back   Break 2: Slappry.- Tom Wages - Obits   Story 4: corners In Peachtree Corners, upcoming elections reveal that most incumbent leaders seeking re-election will remain unopposed. However, a competitive race is emerging to succeed retiring Councilwoman Lorri Christopher for the Post 5 seat, with candidates Ora Douglass and Brent Johnson entering the fray. Mayor Mike Mason, Councilman Phil Sadd (Post 1), and Councilman Alex Wright (Post 3) will retain their positions as no opponents registered against them. The election is scheduled for November 7th.   Story 5: three   In Norcross, all three City Council members seeking re-election this fall will encounter challengers. The candidate qualifying period ended on Wednesday, finalizing the November ballot. Councilman Josh Bare will compete against James K. Redding and Sonya Lopez. Councilwoman Arlene Beckles will contend with Marshall Cheeks, and Councilman Andrew Hixson will face Chuck Kays. Again the municipal elections are scheduled for November 7th.         Story 6: seats   Snellville Mayor Barbara Bender is set for an uncontested re-election, but the City Council will see competitive races. Two council positions have contested races following the conclusion of candidate qualifying. For the open Post 1 seat due to term limits of Dave Emmanuel, Norman A. Carter, Catherine Hardrick, and Elizdine Heathington are contenders. Post 2 Councilwoman Solange Destang will face Kerry Hetherington in a re-election challenge. Notably, no opponents emerged against Mayor Bender. Gwinnett County will have a number of seats and roles in various locales running in the November election. Buford took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning, with Mountain View narrowing the gap to 4-3 by scoring twice. The Bears had a chance to tie with a runner on third base, but the game ended on a groundout. Buford's Caroline Stanton (4-0) pitched a complete game with 16 strikeouts, giving up three runs. Mackenzie Pickens stood out at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs, while Madison Pickens contributed a home run. Sarah Kate Sportsman led Mountain View, going 2-for-2.   Story 8: jimienez   High school senior Adrian Jimenez, currently attending Parkview, has committed to playing baseball at Virginia Commonwealth University. Jimenez, recognized as a middle infielder, had previously earned acclaim as a Georgia Dugout Club second-team all-state awardee during his junior year at Lanier High School. He garnered further recognition as a first-team all-county selection by the Daily Post, showcasing impressive stats with a .429 batting average, 26 RBIs, 10 doubles, 36 runs, and 15 stolen bases.   Story 9: 8th inning   In a fastpitch softball game, North Gwinnett emerged victorious with a 3-2 win against South Forsyth, clinched by Olivia Chuck's eighth-inning winning RBI. Despite trailing 2-1, North Gwinnett rallied in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by an RBI single from Keaton Mirabal, followed by Chuck's game-winning hit after a throwing error. Chuck and Addie Pierce both contributed two hits to North's offense. Victoria Na, Addison Miles, and Morgan Sullivan combined their efforts on the mound, allowing six hits and one earned run in eight innings, while striking out 12 and walking just one. I am often asked where I find the drive to do this work I do with the Derate The Hate podcast, or how I find the time to do the work I do with the Braver Angels organization. It seems that I answer this in many ways because there are many reasons, but it often comes down to this; I absolutely love speaking with, and learning from, those who are trying to better the world in which we live. I want to spread the message that most of our societal ills can be remedied with the right mindset. The right mindset can be found in curious conversations with great people. In this episode I had the opportunity to learn about another incredible organization doing great work for our country's veterans and first responders. On today's episode we discuss the Ripple Effect with Dr. Andrew Oteo.  Dr. Oteo is a chiropractor in the North Dallas, Texas area.  He's been practicing for 12 years and is a Parker Mentor, Vice President of the Parker Alumni Association Board of Directors, and as a credentialed Community Based Internship (CBI) doctor. Dr. Oteo was also named the 2015 Parker University Young Alumni of the Year as well as the 2017 TCA District 5 Doctor of the Year. He does not limit his service strictly to Parker University, but also supports wounded warriors through his involvement with the Patriot Project and the Warrior Open golf tournament, where he has been a central part of integrating chiropractic care into the event's medical team since 2011. Whatever Dr. Oteo does, he is firm, and enthusiastic in his approach. He brings energy and optimism to his chiropractic practice and his passion in life is helping people reach their full God-given health & performance potential through chiropractic care.

Ric Savage was born into a family of liberal academics.  His mom was a librarian and his dad was an English professor.   Ric grew up in a rural southern town in the great Smoky Mountains. He always wanted to be in the military his whole life.  Ric's family has a strong military tradition with veterans serving in every war since the Revolutionary War. Ric wrestled in high school, earning a college scholarship.  His scholarship was short lived when Ric hurt his back and was out for the season. Ric quit school and joined the army.  He served as field artillery for three years. In 1989 Rick wrestled in a tournament for the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg.  He won in his weight class and make the post team.  Unfortunately, Ric blew his knew out a few short weeks later during practice.  A doctor retired him from the army. "Heavy Metal" Ric Savage was a pro wrestler from 1990-1997.  He was the star of Savage Family Diggers, and is a motivational speaker. Ric is not shy about his views.  We talked about his love for the military and our warriors; the left agenda; republicans need to stop cowering; reverence for the American flag; socialism; Founding Fathers; the Biden presidency, the border, and more. Dr. Timothy P. Novelli, of North Canton, Ohio has been in practice since 1985. After completing his undergraduate courses at Walsh University in North Canton, he received his Doctorate at The National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois. After starting his practice in 1985, Dr. Novelli spent the next nine (9) years completing Diplomate Programs in the areas of Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Applied Kinesiology, and Advanced Studies of Motor Vehicle Accident Biomechanics at The Spinal Institute of San Diego. Dr. Novelli also studied under Dr. Vernon Pierce, DC of Spartanburg, South Carolina who taught him the “Pierce Technique”, a cervical adjustment used for difficult cervical disc problems. Due to his successful adjustment techniques, many medical doctors as well as chiropractic colleagues refer their most difficult cervical disc patients to Dr. Novelli for treatment. Dr. Novelli specializes in neuromuscular and skeletal injuries and, for over 25 years, has provided care for both professional and Olympic athletes from around the world returning them to competition sooner and improving their performance both on and off the field. In addition, he has provided chiropractic care and served as the Team Physician to the Ashland University Elite Track and Field teams, The Cleveland Browns professional football team, served as a Ring Doctor for MMA tournaments and is a Past Vice President of The North Central Academy of Chiropractic. For the past 28 football seasons, Dr. Novelli has served as the Team Physician for his Alma Mater, The Central Catholic Crusaders * 2 times State Champions. After meeting Retired US Army Sgt. 1ST Class Dana Bowman at his Halo for Freedom event, Dr. Novelli had the opportunity to meet and extend Chiropractic care to over 150 Wounded Warriors. Soon after that event Dr. Novelli founded THE PATRIOT PROJECT.  Chiropractic care is now available to our heroes in 17 states by some 250 Chiropractors. Dr. Novelli is now dedicated to encouraging members of his Chiropractic Profession to SUPPORT “the cause” and JOIN THE PATRIOT PROJECT.
