When Steve Smith set out to hitchhike from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Canada's west coast back in 1968, he was just an eighteen-year-old hippie with an appetite for adventure. But a short way into his journey, a reckless decision to steal a car landed him in police custody. Afraid of getting caught with the two tabs of acid in his pocket, Steve popped them into his mouth. It was one of the worst decisions of his life. Mistaking his drug trip for a mental breakdown, the authorities placed him in Ontario's notorious Oak Ridge mental health facility. While there, not only did he find himself shoulder-to-shoulder with people like notorious child killer Peter Woodcock and mass murderers Matt Lamb and Victor Hoffman, he also fell into the hands of someone worse: Dr. Elliot T. Barker. Over the next eight months, Barker subjected Steve and the other patients to a battery of unorthodox experiments involving LSD, scopolamine, methamphetamines, and other drugs. Steven also experienced numerous other forms of abuse and torture. Following his release, Steve continued to suffer the aftereffects of his Oak Ridge experience. For several years, he found himself in and out of prison—and back to Oak Ridge—before he was finally able to establish himself as a successful entrepreneur. Once he began investigating what happened to him during his youth, not even Steve was prepared for what he would discover about Barker, Oak Ridge, and one of the darkest periods in Canada's treatment of mental health patients. The question remains: Was Oak Ridge and Dr. Barker trying to cure psychopaths or trying to create and direct them?Read lessBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

David Michael Kreuger is best known by his birth name, Peter Woodcock and he is known as Canada's youngest serial killer. By the time that his life ended in 2010 he was known as a serial killer, a child rapist and was also diagnosed as a psychopath. Peter is known for crimes that actually took place many, many years apart as he would initially be incarcerated for three murders of young children in Toronto in the late 1950s. However, one of the most jarring things about Peter was that he also would commit murder in 1991 on his very first day of unsupervised release from the institution that he had been held in. Billy is back with Tomcat as they pour the maple syrup and get ready to plunge into another Canadian Killer, Peter Woodock. David Michael Krueger best known by his birth name, Peter Woodcock, was a Canadian serial killer and child rapist who gained notoriety for the brutal murders of three young children in Toronto in 1956 and 1957 when he himself was still a teenager. He was subsequently diagnosed as a psychopath and placed in a psychiatric facility. Expensive treatment programs for Woodcock proved ineffective when he murdered a fellow psychiatric patient in 1991; after his death in 2010, he was dubbed by the Toronto star as "The serial killer they couldn't cure!" The streets of 'Toronto the Good' in the 1950's were terrorized by a boy on a bike. He would abduct small children and leave their tortured bodies out in the open to be discovered. Peter Woodcock was captured and declared insane, but 50 years of psychiatric treatment and changing his name could not cure his psychotic urges. This Krueger was a real life nightmare! Welcome to Season 2 episode 30. Today we have another serial killer episode for you guys. Nicole will inform us about a serial killer duo, Jen will bring us to Canada and our guest Kate will start the episode with Ted Bundy.
We're doing something different this week. Rather than one short story or a series of stories that share a theme, we're covering two completely unrelated tales. First, there's the story of doomed spelunker Floyd Collins. Then, we go to Canada for the unfortunately named Peter Woodcock. We also bust a huge conspiracy wide open.Like the show on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/OurWeirdWorldPod/Follow John on Twitter and Instagram @TheJohnHinson
Caitlin and Bibi discuss their countries' youngest serial killers: Craig Price and Peter Woodcock. Are LSD or boozy breast milk to blame? Could they be rehabilitated? And what's up with those scattered pennies? This might be the strangest episode yet.
Peter Woodcock was born an innocent child yet never had a chance. During the time in which a baby is normally bonding with its mother and father; Peter Woodcock was being passed around from foster home to foster home. Never given the chance to bond, love, connect with anyone at such an early age, led to his heart becoming dark. His thoughts followed thereafter, becoming darker and more sinister as he got older. We don't excuse anyone that commits heinous crimes such as these, but we do understand how he got there. With no love as a baby nothing but abuse and neglect. What chance did he have? You decide.
Born into extreme poverty during apartheid in South Africa, his father died when he was young and he was abandoned by his mother shortly after. David Michael Krueger, best known by his birth name, Peter Woodcock, was a Canadian serial killer, child rapist and diagnosed psychopath. Born March 5, 1939 he went on to kill 4 people and become Canada’s youngest serial killer.
Toronto - CanadaToronto is the capital city of the province of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,731,571 in 2016, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,245,438 people (as of 2016) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) proper had a 2016 population of 6,417,516. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.People have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original borders through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi). This Episode contains the Hometown Murder Cases of:Paul Kenneth Bernardo (born August 27, 1964), also known as Paul Jason Teale, is a Canadian serial killer and serial rapist. Bernardo is known for initially committing a series of rapes in Scarborough, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, between 1987 and 1990. He subsequently committed three murders with his then-wife Karla Homolka; among these victims was her young sister Tammy Homolka. After his capture and conviction, Bernardo was sentenced to life imprisonment and was later declared a dangerous offender unlikely to be released.David Michael Krueger (March 5, 1939 – March 5, 2010), best known by his birth name, Peter Woodcock, was a Canadian serial killer, child rapist and diagnosed psychopath. He gained notoriety for the murders of three young children in Toronto in the late 1950s, as well as for a murder in 1991 on his first day of unsupervised release from the psychiatric institution in which he had been incarcerated for his earlier crimes. An adopted child, Krueger lived in numerous foster homes as an infant, and showed signs of severe emotional trauma when he found a permanent foster home at the age of 3. Unable to adjust to social situations, he was bullied by his peers. He would often wander from his home by foot, bicycle or train to parts of Toronto, where he would molest dozens of children, and ultimately murder three. Found not guilty by reason of insanity for his crimes, he was sent to a psychiatric facility. Psychiatrists placed him in experimental treatment programs for psychopathy, but those treatments proved ineffective when he murdered a fellow psychiatric patient in 1991; after his death in 2010, he was described in the Toronto Star as "the serial killer they couldn't cure."Alison Parrott (September 28, 1974 – July 25, 1986), was an 11-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her remains were found two evenings later in a densely wooded area of Kings Mill Park
It was 1956, in Tonronto, Wayne Mallette was found murdered and 14 year-old Ron Moffatt was arrested and convicted of the murder. However, when two other children were found murdered, police arrested Peter Woodcock, later David Michael Krueger. Moffatt was released, however, the murder has hung over him like a cloud. Writer Nate Hendley researched and wrote about Moffatt's story in the book The Boy on the Bicycle. He details the murder and how Moffatt was able to rebuild his life. Nate spoke with Conversations of the Strange about the book, Ron Moffatt and the ultimate fate of serial killer Peter Woodcock. Then Amy talks about the case of Mary Bell, an 11 year old budding serial killer who murdered two small boys in the town of Newcastle on Tyne, England. She was born into a world that did not want her and prostituted to her mother’s clients for most of her childhood. Mary acted out aggressively and snuffed out two lives in the process. A story about one of Canada's youngest serial killers from the late 1950's. WARNING: Disturbing content in this episode.
Peter Woodcock, one of Canada's youngest serial killers, shocked the city of Toronto with his brutal crimes. In the mid-1950's, Peter would bike the streets of Toronto in search of his next victim - his preference was children under the age of 10. His crimes would very quickly escalate from sick sexual games to murder, which would eventually land Peter in the Penetanguishene Mental Health Centre. Though he was incarcerated, Woodcock proved to the world that nothing could stop him from living out his sick fantasies. In the seventh episode of our Killer Canucks series, we take a look at the life of Peter Woodcock, "the serial killer they couldn't cure." In 1957, the youngest serial killer in Canada was caught after having killed three children in four months. What many don't know about Peter Woodcock's story is that a 14 year old had been wrongfully convicted for one of those murders after giving a false confession. It took six decades before Ron Moffatt was ready to tell his story to author Nate Hendley for his book The Boy on the Bicycle. And now Ron is sharing his story at book signings, Innocence Canada events, and on podcasts to warn of the real consequences of allowing children to be interrogated without a parent present and using uncorroborated confessions in criminal trials.
