Known as Eagle Strong Voice, Kevin's life transformed when he uncovered horrific crimes at the Port Alberni Indian Residential School in the early 1990s. His refusal to stay silent cost him his ministry, marriage, and reputation, as the United Church and Canadian authorities blacklisted him. Undeterred, Kevin's courage ignited a movement to expose systemic genocide, leading him to confront one of the world's most powerful institutions: the Vatican.Kevin's groundbreaking work began with the 1998 human rights tribunal in Vancouver, where he documented Canada's residential school genocide, forcing the nation to face its dark past. His award-winning documentary Unrepentant and books like Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust brought global attention to the deaths of thousands of Indigenous children, compelling Canada's 2008 apology. But Kevin's mission didn't stop there. In 2010, he co-founded the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS), uniting survivors across 26 countries to hold the Vatican, British Crown, and others accountable for crimes against humanity. His efforts led to the historic resignation of Pope Benedict in 2013 after the ITCCS convicted him of complicity in child trafficking and abuse. As discussed on our last episode, Kevin has now set his sights on exposing the shadowy Ninth Circle cult and its sinister leader, our current Pope, Pope Leo. Through the International Common Law Court of Justice (ICLCJ), where he serves as a chief advisor, Kevin is spearheading a 2025 criminal lawsuit charging Pope Leo with murder, conspiracy, and crimes against humanity. Drawing on chilling eyewitness testimonies, Vatican archives, and INTERPOL records, Kevin's investigation reveals Pope Leo's alleged role in ritualistic child sacrifice, trafficking, and drug trade cover-ups, implicating other global elites like Donald Trump, King Charles III, Cardinal Dolan and even the CEO of Pfizer. Today, he will be updating us on what's happened since the last time he was on, where the case stands today, and what is next.Kevin is a beacon of hope, proving one voice can challenge empires. His fearless stand against the Vatican and Pope Leo calls us all to action, igniting a global movement for justice and healing. Join him at www.murderbydecree.com to stand with the voiceless, reclaim truth, and build a world where no child suffers in silence. Episode 244 and Victorian popular fiction author H Rider Haggard features as one of the main characters of this tale. Rider Haggards' creation called Allan Quartermain appeared in 18 novels - the first in what has become known as is the Lost World genre. George Lucas and Philip Kaufman copied the Allan Quartermain template for Indiana Jones character - as well as the basic storylines for movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark. While King Solomon's Mines is Rider Haggard's most popular work, Allan Quartermain has since reappeared in movies in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which gave his books a bit of a push. His novels, which blended exploration, myth, and early ideas of evolution, also influenced the subconscious of his generation, resonating with spiritual and psychological themes that were explored by figures like Jung and Freud. Furthermore, his work reflects and grapples with late Victorian anxieties, including imperial politics, the changing role of religion, and burgeoning notions of race and empire. Right now, we're saddling up with Theophilus Shepstone in Pietermaritzburg - it's 1877. If you recall last episode, Transvaal President Burgers had gone to war against baPedi chief Sekhukhuni, which ended in a stalemate and reports of atrocities committed by German lead mercenaries. Burgers had already complained in England about their treatment of the Boer claims to the diamond fields - and the Colonial office had coughed up 90 000 pounds as compensation. You could call it a bribe, because that's what it was. The boers accepted the compensation, but did not back down on their claims to land in the vicinity of the Transvaal, including baPedi land. As long as the Transvaal remained receptive to the confederation idea at least in Carnarvon's mind, there was no real conflict to deal with amongst the local officials. But there was growing tension between an historian JJ Froude and Garnet Wolseley for example. Froude had been sent on a fact-finding mission to the colonies by Carnarvon and he became a surprising advocate for the Boers and the Free State and Transvaal Republics. His advice to Carnarvon was to let the states handle their own problems, as they resented interference from Downing Street. Cape Governor Sir Henry Barkly had been sending Carnarvon reports drawn largely from pro-annexationist newspapers in the Transvaal and the Cape Colony. These implied that the Transvaal was nearing a state of anarchy as a result of its war with the Sekukuni's baPedi. Eagerly lapping all this up was Sir Garnet Wolseley who was the very epitome of the Stiff upper lip Brit, a military officer and administrator, represented the opposite, more interventionist imperial view. In late December 1876, Sir Theophilus Shepstone departed from Pietermaritzburg in Natal with a small, almost symbolic, escort of just 25 Natal Mounted Police and a handful of officials including the young H Rider Haggard. Just as an aside, Haggard was not being paid for his duties as Shepstone's secretary. Work experience I guess you'd call it. However, Shepstone's secret instructions were far more decisive: if he deemed it necessary and opportune, he was to annex the territory to the British Crown. The Transvaal had no easy revenue base, and Shepstone introduced new taxes on both black and white Transvalers, while his administrative reforms chafed the Boers. Most resented they now had no elected representation under British rule and resistance started almost immediately.

This week we'll be talking with Nic Butler, the historian at the Charleston County Public Library. He has been digging into archives both here and in Britain, researching the life of George Anson. Anson, was an officer in the British Navy who, by the time of his death in 1762, had risen to its highest rank, First Lord of the Admiralty. He had also spent 9 years in South Carolina during its time of transition from a colony governed by the Lords Proprietors to a colony of the British Crown. That change wasn't instant and some of the history the colony's governance during the transition - as well as that of day-to-day life – are sometimes unclear. However, in researching George Anson, Nic Butler has both found a valuable through-line to this history and shone a light on Anson's own fascinating story.

fWotD Episode 2982: George Washington Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Friday, 4 July 2025, is George Washington.George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O. S. February 11, 1731] – December 14, 1799) was a Founding Father and the first president of the United States, serving from 1789 to 1797. As commander of the Continental Army, Washington led Patriot forces to victory in the American Revolutionary War against the British Empire. He is commonly known as the Father of the Nation for his role in bringing about American independence.Born in the Colony of Virginia, Washington became the commander of the Virginia Regiment during the French and Indian War (1754–1763). He was later elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses, and opposed the perceived oppression of the American colonists by the British Crown. When the American Revolutionary War against the British began in 1775, Washington was appointed commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. He directed a poorly organized and equipped force against disciplined British troops. Washington and his army achieved an early victory at the Siege of Boston in March 1776 but were forced to retreat from New York City in November. Washington crossed the Delaware River and won the battles of Trenton in late 1776 and Princeton in early 1777, then lost the battles of Brandywine and Germantown later that year. He faced criticism of his command, low troop morale, and a lack of provisions for his forces as the war continued. Ultimately Washington led a combined French and American force to a decisive victory over the British at Yorktown in 1781. In the resulting Treaty of Paris in 1783, the British acknowledged the sovereign independence of the United States. Washington then served as president of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, which drafted the current Constitution of the United States.Washington was unanimously elected the first U. S. president by the Electoral College in 1788 and 1792. He implemented a strong, well-financed national government while remaining impartial in the fierce rivalry that emerged within his cabinet between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. During the French Revolution, he proclaimed a policy of neutrality while supporting the Jay Treaty with Britain. Washington set enduring precedents for the office of president, including republicanism, a peaceful transfer of power, the use of the title "Mr. President", and the two-term tradition. His 1796 farewell address became a preeminent statement on republicanism: Washington wrote about the importance of national unity and the dangers that regionalism, partisanship, and foreign influence pose to it. As a planter of tobacco and wheat at Mount Vernon, Washington owned many slaves. He began opposing slavery near the end of his life, and provided in his will for the eventual manumission of his slaves.Washington's image is an icon of American culture and he has been extensively memorialized; his namesakes include the national capital and the State of Washington. In both popular and scholarly polls, he is consistently considered one of the greatest presidents in American history. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:46 UTC on Friday, 4 July 2025.For the full current version of the article, see George Washington on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Olivia.

For decades, this Canadian hero we get to hear from today has fearlessly exposed the dark underbelly of his nation's history - the systematic genocide of Indigenous children in church-run Indian Residential Schools. At immense personal cost, Kevin has become a beacon of hope for survivors, a thorn in the side of the powerful, and a catalyst for global awakening.Born with a fierce sense of justice, Kevin's journey began in the 1990s when, as a minister in Port Alberni, British Columbia, he uncovered harrowing accounts of abuse, murder, and cultural annihilation inflicted upon Indigenous children. What he discovered shattered his world: a deliberate campaign by church and state to erase a people, with a staggering 50% death rate in the schools - a truth later confirmed by the Globe and Mail in 2007. Unwilling to stay silent, Kevin embarked on a mission that would cost him his career, his family, and his reputation, but would also ignite a movement that could not be extinguished. In 1998, Kevin convened the first independent Tribunal into residential school crimes in Vancouver, a groundbreaking effort that recommended genocide charges against Canada and its churches to the United Nations. He founded The Truth Commission into Genocide in Canada in 2000, authored the seminal book ‘Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust' in 2001, and released the award-winning documentary ‘Unrepentant' in 2007, which shocked the world with its raw testimonies and undeniable evidence. His work forced an official apology from the Canadian government in 2008, though the establishment quickly erased his name from the narrative.Undeterred, Kevin went global. In 2010, he co-founded the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS), uniting survivors across 26 countries to hold the Vatican, the British Crown, and Canadian leaders accountable for crimes against humanity. His efforts led to the 2011 excavation of children's bones at a mass grave in Brantford, Ontario, and the historic 2012 prosecution of Pope Benedict and others by the International Common Law Court of Justice. Kevin's courage even sparked the resignation of Pope Benedict - a testament to the power of his unrelenting pursuit of justice.CONNECT WITH KEVIN: Email: angelfire101@protonmail.comPhone: 289-680-8724 Websites: -Republic of Kanata: https://republicofkanata.org/-Radio Free Kanata: https://bbsradio.com/radiofreekanata-'Murder by Decree' & other books published by Kevin: https://murderbydecree.com/#books -'Unrepentant' Documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czej73SfYJcCONNECT WITH THE IMAGINATION:EMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comBUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theimaginationAll links: https://direct.me/theimaginationpodcastRIFE TECHNOLOGIES: https://realrifetechnSupport the show

In this solo deep-dive episode of Breaking History, Matt Ehret tackles the untold history of Canada, exposing the imperial roots of Confederation and the British Crown's long war on republicanism. Broadcasting from Alberta, Matt unpacks how Canada's formation in 1867 was engineered to thwart U.S.-style sovereignty, tracing British counter-revolutionary strategies through figures like Lord Alfred Milner, Mark Carney, and Sir John A. Macdonald. Through historical analysis and biting insight, Matt reveals how pro-British networks derailed movements for Canadian-American unity, crushed visionary infrastructure projects like the Bering Strait rail link, and weaponized cultural identity against liberty itself. He highlights unsung Canadian nationalists, compares economic models of empire vs. republic, and makes the case for an Alberta revival rooted in real independence, not just secession. From Franklin and Lincoln to Russia and China, Ehret draws powerful global parallels to today's moment, calling for bold reforms like Glass-Steagall, a return to national banking, and a vision-driven economy. This isn't just Canadian history, it's a blueprint for reclaiming sovereignty from the empire, one idea at a time.

In Episode 94 of Breaking History, Matt Ehret and Ghost peel back the curtain on a sprawling geopolitical landscape shaped by finance, covert operations, and imperial legacy. Kicking off with a deep dive into the rise of Mark Carney as Canada's new globalist puppet, Matt exposes Carney's roots in Brookfield Asset Management, his ties to the World Economic Forum, BlackRock, the Bronfman crime dynasty, and even Ghislaine Maxwell. They explain how Canada's technocratic system is run through the British Crown's Privy Council and unpack why Trump's call to make Canada the 51st state may be a calculated narrative demonstration rather than a serious policy goal. The hosts then shift to the volatile India-Pakistan conflict, highlighting the role of British and U.S. intelligence in fostering jihadist networks and weaponizing historic grievances like Kashmir and Khalistan. From Pakistan's Defense Minister openly blaming the West for radicalization, to India's aggressive water shutoff, they warn of a potential flashpoint designed to fracture the BRICS alliance. Finally, they explore the strategic importance of Iran's Bandar Abbas port explosion along the International North-South Transport Corridor, a vital trade route linking Russia, Iran, and India. With energy, alliances, and multipolarity on the line, this episode is a masterclass in deciphering the engineered chaos of empire.

Smithsonian Associate Dr. Andrew Lawler's new book, available at Apple Books is A Perfect Frenzy: A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis That Spurred the American Revolution. In it, he uncovers the untold story of Lord Dunmore, Virginia's last royal governor—a man who, in desperation, issued a proclamation offering freedom to enslaved people who joined the British fight. The result? Chaos, fury, and the kind of political firestorm that changed the course of history. Thomas Jefferson himself admitted it: Dunmore's actions sent the patriots into a perfect frenzy, leading directly to the burning of Norfolk and Virginia's push for independence. But what about the people who answered Dunmore's call—the men who risked everything to fight for a different kind of freedom? What happened to them? And how does this forgotten chapter of history still shape the America we live in today? Andrew Lawler has spent years unraveling this remarkable story, and today, he's here to share it with us. Episode 212 it is - we're cruising into 1858 but wait! The sounds of gunfire! Yes, it's that old South African tune, war, set to the music of the guns. Our society is steeped in action, movement, confrontation. This is not a place for the insipid, the weak, the fearful. Whatever our belief system or our personal politics, what cannot be disputed is that the country and our ways are those of the warrior. This is an uncomfortable truth for metropolitans who are more used to single latte's than sling shots. Globally, 1858 is full of momentous events and incidents. It was the year in which Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace present their papers on evolution by natural selection in London. In India, a peace treaty ends the Indian Rebellion and later in the year the British parliament passes the Government of India Act. This transfers the territories of the British East India Company and their administration to the Direct Rule of the British Crown. The great stink in London led parliament to a bill to create modern sewerage system after the dreadful odours wafting about the British capital during the summer. Another young girl dreams up appiritions in the mode of Nongqawuse who dreamed up the cattle Killings - this time its Bernadette Soubirous who claims she saw several appritions appeared before her in the southern French town of Lourdes. Without going into too many gory details, around Ash Wednesday a woman appeared before her inside a grotto and after three appearances over time, began to talk. By October, the government had shut down the grotto there were so many people pitching up to take part in what was called a miracle. A miracle only she could see. Strange how these stories in this period repeated themselves. Back in Africa, David Livingstones six-year long second Zambezi expedition arrived on the Indian Ocean coast. Which is an important moment because inland, the tension between the Boers of the Free State and King Moshoeshoe of Basutoland had been exacerbated. A drought was reported in the region in 1858 which exacerbated everything. The Volksraad met in February 1858. They were faced with a request for help to deal with Posholi signed by a field-cornet and sixty five other burghers in the disputed area.Later in February 1858 Smithfield Landdrost Jacobus Sauer sent more news from the badlands - Posholi was, in his words, parading through Smithfield district with warriors and when accosted, said he was on a hunting expedition. When the Commando eventually gathered, there were one thousand armed and mounted Boers. Which was exactly ten percent the size of the Basotho force of ten thousand, all mounted with at least five hundred firearms. Back at the Thaba Bosiu ranch, Moshoeshoe was a sea of calm. It was now war and the king along with the territorial chiefs and councillors, put their plans into motion. They'd faced this kind of attack before, the British had raided them in 1852 if you recall. That had ended in disaster for the empire, so Moshoeshoe was not rattled by the latest assault on his independence.

Following the success of last year's What About China -trilogy, I'm delighted to introduce a two-part series on the economic history of India. This series examines the origins of modern India by focusing on politics, poverty, and the experience of ordinary Indians from 1600 till today. The first episode covers the decline of the Mughals and the hugely controversial rule of the British East India Company and, later, the British Crown. One thing is clear: Most Indians lived in poverty when the British left. So, how much of Indian poverty was due to British policies? How much was shaped by deeper trends? And what should we make of those infamous railways? To tackle these questions, I'm joined by Bishnupriya Gupta, a professor of economics at the University of Warwick and one of the world's leading historians of the Indian economy. Her new book, An Economic History of India, provides a uniquely objective and data-driven exploration of India's history, focusing on the well-being of ordinary people. In this episode, we discuss:Indian vs English living standards in 1600 / The impact of British colonialism on India's economy / The Great Famines of Bengal / What both imperial apologists and Indian nationalists get wrong about the British rule. In the end, Gupta also explains why Mahatma Gandhi's education might be a clue as to why India lagged behind East Asia in the 20th Century. Nineteen-year-old Sarah Bonetta Forbes (Sally), once a princess of the Egbado Clan, desires one thing above all else: revenge against the British Crown and its system of colonial "humanitarianism," which stole her dignity and transformed her into royal property. From military men to political leaders, she's vowed to ruin all who've had a hand in her afflictions. The top of her list? Her godmother, Britain's mighty monarch, Queen Victoria herself.Taking down the Crown means entering into a twisted game of court politics and manipulating the Queen's inner circle—even if that means aligning with a dangerous yet alluring crime lord in London's underworld and exploiting the affections of Queen Victoria's own son, Prince Albert, as a means to an end. But when Queen Victoria begins to suspect Sally's true intentions, she plays the only card in Victorian society that could possibly cage Sally once again: marriage. Because if there's one thing Sally desires more than revenge, it's her freedom. WithSend us a textSupport the show"Enjoying 'The Conversation'? Support the podcast by buying me a cup of coffee ☕️! An illuminating history of religious and political controversy in nineteenth-century Bengal, where Protestant missionary activity spurred a Christian conversion “panic” that indelibly shaped the trajectory of Hindu and Muslim politics. In 1813, the British Crown adopted a policy officially permitting Protestant missionaries to evangelize among the empire's Indian subjects. The ramifications proved enormous and long-lasting. While the number of conversions was small—Christian converts never represented more than 1.5 percent of India's population during the nineteenth century—Bengal's majority faith communities responded in ways that sharply politicized religious identity, leading to the permanent ejection of religious minorities from Indian ideals of nationhood. Mou Banerjee details what happened as Hindus and Muslims grew increasingly suspicious of converts, missionaries, and evangelically minded British authorities. Fearing that converts would subvert resistance to British imperialism, Hindu and Muslim critics used their influence to define the new Christians as a threatening “other” outside the bounds of authentic Indian selfhood. The meaning of conversion was passionately debated in the burgeoning sphere of print media, and individual converts were accused of betrayal and ostracized by their neighbors. Yet, Banerjee argues, the effects of the panic extended far beyond the lives of those who suffered directly. With Dr Thom and The Professor busy prepping for their upcoming expeditions offshore, we had time to squeeze out one more episode before they set sail. We caught up with the legendary Di Tracey from NIWA to talk all things deep-water corals. How they live, what makes them different from their shallow water relatives, and how they are adapted to life in the deep dark ocean. Di's long career in deep-sea ecology is also intertwined with her extensive work in making the marine sciences a better place for women to work. She talks us through what it was like to begin her career offshore, often being the only woman on board, and how she helped change the industry for the better.  In the news this week we have a few exciting new updates. We can indeed confirm that as of our last episode where we spoke about the vulnerability of subsea cables, there were multiple apparent attacks and cables were cut. We can only assume that hostile nations do indeed listen to the deep-sea podcast (thanks for subscribing!). Andrew is back from his stint offshore and he is chock-full of stories for us. This year, Americans will choose their next president and many other lawmakers, and decide which initiatives to enshrine in local law. It's a practice made possible by rebels of the British Crown more than two centuries ago. Since then, America has evolved dramatically, and the stage is set for history to be made once more this November. However, instead of looking ahead, we are looking back at the start of it all. On July 4, 1776, 56 men signed a document declaring 13 British colonies as one United States of America. By this charter, they formed a new country - one free from a distant king's rule. The Declaration of Independence showcased the rights and beliefs of the new country. It was a written record of what America would stand for and was signed by the nation's founding fathers. To honor the country's 248th birthday, The Gaggle presents a reading of the Declaration of Independence.  Here to read the country's founding document are reporters and other staff members at The Arizona Republic. Within the Declaration of Independence, the founders of the United States present twenty-seven grievances against King George III as they declare their reasons for why the thirteen British North American colonies sought their independence from Great Britain. Their twenty-fifth grievance declares that King George III “is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat [sic] the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun.” What do we know about the “Armies of foreign Mercenaries” King George III sent to his rebellious American colonies?  Friederike Baer, an Associate Professor of History at Penn State Abbington College, joins us to explore the lives and wartime experiences of the 30,000 German soldiers the British Crown hired and dispatched to North America during the American War for Independence. Frederike is the author of the award-winning book Hessians: German Soldiers in the American Revolutionary War.
