“The coyote's on the edge of your awareness. Where's your edge? Where is your student's edge? That's what you're trying to find and push gently out.”In this episode Jon, Sarah, and Aidan are joined by Rick Berry from 4 Elements Earth Education. Rick shares his story of nature connection and how that has led to mentoring others over the past 30 years. He shares about how land and place influence our lessons, how he guides teens in transformational ways, and the importance of modeling the values we want to pass on to the next generation. Rick shares stories of his own lineage of mentoring, including how coyote teaching was passed on to him through Tom Brown Jr and Jon, and how that has contributed to his own teaching style. Rick shares a beautiful vision for unity and the role we can play in welcoming and allowing each other's unique ways of being, before closing with an invitation for each of us that might offer a little healing today. “We do have a common vision and we each do this in our own unique way. We have to come together to Heal”About Rick BerryRick Berry began with the Tracker School in 1986 at the age of 15, and has been teaching these skills for the past 30 years. After graduating with a B.S. from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, Rick honed his skills in the remote Klamath Mountain range where he immersed himself for 12 years in indigenous life-ways--passed on to him by Gary Morris who himself had lived with Yurok Elder Calvin Rube for 20 years. Later, Rick spent two years in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey as a care-taker for the Tracker School, refining his tracking and survival skills. Rick taught with both Jon Young and Tom Brown, Jr. through the Tracker School's Coyote Camps, and moved on to serve seven years as Director of The Children of the Earth Foundation. Rick, Cherokee Descent, (Grandmother was part of the Red Bird Stokes Stomp Ground in Vian, Oklahoma), has been working in collaboration with the Siakumne Maidu Tribe for the past 14 years creating the Fox Walkers youth programs at Pata Panaka / Burton Educational Preserve in Nevada City, CA. In 2019 Rick was asked to be the Executive Director of The Children of the Earth Foundation; Rick will oversee Coyote Tracks Programs under the 4EEE west coast non-profit umbrella.Learn more about Rick at https://www.4eee.orgVisit https://www.livingconnection1st.net/ for more information about our work in nature connection and people connection.
Kent Blazy is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. His credits include several singles for Garth Brooks, as well as singles by Gary Morris, Diamond Rio, Patty Loveless and Chris Young. He has a total of seven number one hits to his credit. In 1982, Gary Morris took "Headed for a Heartache" to number 5 on the charts. In the years that followed other artists, such as The Forrester Sisters, T. Graham Brown, Donna Fargo and Moe Bandy recorded Kent's tunes. In 1987, Kent was introduced to a new demo singer by Bob Doyle, then with ASCAP, soon to be the manager for this emerging talent, Garth Brooks. Garth became Kent's most requested demo singer and Bob Doyle also advised, “Garth writes a little bit too.” The first song Garth and Kent penned together was "If Tomorrow Never Comes" which became the first number one song for both. The friendship and writing partnership continued as Garth included eight more of their songs on his albums. Four more of theirs songs captured the number one slot: "Somewhere Other Than the Night", "Ain't Goin' Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)", "It's Midnight Cinderella", and "She's Gonna Make It.” Brooks continued to record Blazy's material throughout the 1990s, including the singles “Cold Shoulder” and the George Jones duet “Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?).” He also co-wrote “That's What I Get for Lovin' You” by Diamond Rio and “Can't Get Enough” by Patty Loveless in the late 1990s. Kent's songwriting continues with established writing partnerships, as well as developing partnerships with new writers and artists. Many of his crafted works continue to be recorded by artists such as Diamond Rio, Kenny Chesney, Terri Clark, Clay Walker, Patty Loveless, Julie Roberts, Andy Griggs and Blaine Larsen, a new recording artist on RCA. Kent's latest #1 hit is Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song), recorded by Chris Young. Kent also has the title track on Reba's latest CD "All The Women I Am" It's also the name of her tour, tv special and her exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Gary Morris and Will Reid are back to break down all the highlights from Rangers 3-1 win at Easter Road where James Tavernier stepped up to mark his 400th Rangers appearance with another wonderful free kick goal. Ianis Hagi marked his return from injury hell with an emotional first goal in 16 months, and Todd Cantwell continued his excellent recent form with another goal in front of the travelling Rangers support. Will was also in attendance at Ibrox today for the 4th Official as the Womens Premier League season ended in a tense climax. In the end, Lauren Davidson's 92nd minute winner was enough to see Glasgow City crowned champions for the 16th time, snatching the title away from Celtic, and consigning Rangers to 3rd place in the league, and out of the European places for next season. Again it was a lack of quality in the final third that was Rangers ladies undoing, but Malky Thomson's side at least have a chance to make some amends with an Old Firm Scottish Cup Final on the horizon at Hampden next weekend. Gary Morris is joined by Martin Cassidy, CEO of Ref Support UK to discuss recent controversies involving match officials in Scotland and in the Premier League. They speak about the contentious decisions of Kevin Clancy at the weekend, and whether or not Scottish refs would benefit from going professional to improve their level of performance. Martin also speaks about the recent trend of match official confrontational behaviour - with the Mitrovic, Robertson and Fernandes incidents, and whether or not officials should have open mics as they do in rugby, or at least a platform to explain their decisions. Finally, Martin also discusses accountability for the press and pundits, and whether or not programmes such as Sky Sports' Ref Watch actually hinder refereeing standards rather than aid them. A very interesting and frank discussion, and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Martin has offered to come back onto T4O later in the year to follow up on this show. Official Hot Country Podcast Website: http://www.hotcountrypodcast.com Chris McKay interviews Billboard, CMA, ACM, and Grammy award winner Gary Morris. Gary is a singer-songwriter with over 25 charted singles. Gary is also a star of television, movies and the broadway stage. From WIKIPEDIA - Although his credits include more than twenty-five other chart singles on the Billboard country charts, "The Wind Beneath My Wings" including five No. 1 hits. He has also released nine studio albums, mostly in the country pop vein, with his 1983 album Why Lady Why having earned a gold certification from the RIAA. "Headed for a Heartache" that song reached No. 8 on the country chart in late 1981. Two follow-up singles Why Lady Why focused more on ballads. One of the album's four singles was "Wind Beneath My Wings,"[1] which showcased Morris' soaring tenor. Written by Larry Henley and Jeff Silbar, the song about heroes — which Morris recorded as a ballad — became one of the earliest hit versions of the song; a better-known version by Bette Midler would top the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. The Why Lady Why album also featured the ballad "The Love She Found in Me,""Velvet Chains" and the up-tempoed title track as singles; all of them peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Also during this time, Morris recorded a duet with Lynn Anderson called "You're Welcome to Tonight," After two more top 10 hits in 1984 — "Between Two Fires" and "Second Hand Heart" — Morris scored his first No. 1 country hit in March 1985 with "Baby Bye Bye." During what was his most prolific hit-making part of his career, Morris had three more solo No. 1 hits during the next two years: "I'll Never Stop Loving You," "100% Chance of Rain" and "Leave Me Lonely." He also recorded a chart-topping duet with Crystal Gayle, "Makin' Up For Lost Time (The Dallas Lovers Song)." Although he rarely saw any success outside country music, many of Morris' hit songs were in the pop-country vein during the height of his career. Morris had two more hits in 1987: the solo "Plain Brown Wrapper" and another duet with Gayle called "Another World." The latter song was used for many years as the theme for the NBC soap opera.[1] After that, Morris' success on the country charts began to fade, as tastes switched once again to neo-traditional country music. Morris later opened a music publishing office in Nashville, with one of his employees being future star Faith Hill. In early 2008, Morris released two gospel albums. His most recent CD is called, Faith and Freedom, dedicated to the military troops. Gary Morris performed two songs featured on Juice Newton's album Duets: Friends & Memories, which was released in October 2010. Morris took a break from touring to pursue a serious acting career. One of his first big roles was in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, as Jean Valjean. The full symphonic recording of Les Misérables is a platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning album and features Morris' vocals throughout in the role of Valjean, including his version of the song "Bring Him Home." Morris has also appeared in a production of Puccini's opera La Boheme with fellow country/pop singer Linda Ronstadt. In the 1980s, he did a stint on The Colbys as blind country music singer Wayne Masterson, signed to Dominique Deveraux's label. On the show, he sang "Try Gettin' Over You" from his Anything Goes release. In the 1990s, he spent a great deal of time working on music projects, such as the PBS special concert production, in Moscow, Russia, in the Tretyakov Gallery. He returned to country music in the 1990s, performing in concerts and as a record producer. Morris hosted and also produced the Nashville network's The North American Sportsman. In 1992, he appeared in an episode of Designing Women as Julia's surgeon. In this week's episode, Chris Cownden gets to talk with Everte Farnell, a world-class direct response copywriting expert, praised by internet marketing legends Dan Kennedy, Yanik Silver, Matt Furey, Ben Settle, Matt Bacak and Bill Glazer. We talk about copywriting best practices, what drives human behaviour, and even go over a detailed case study example that will help you understand how copywriters think. I have summarised it for you for ease but if you want to listen to this part, go directly to the...minute.Chris has also gone through and picked out some of golden nuggets from the episode to help you take action today. Check out Everte's bio and tips down below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When Everte was in College, he opened a cleaning service with a friend which kickstarted his desire to sell. He then got in the Animal Remediation Business, that means cleaning up after animal mess and restoring the house. In short, to get more clients he would go out and get clients by getting them to complete the contract by signature, until he came across Dan Kennedy's work. He realised that instead of doing 1-2 sales presentations a day he could do up to 500 presentations through copywriting. Following Dan's advice, he brought an extra $100k in profit to his small business just by writing copy that made sense to his clients. From that moment he was hooked! Now, Everte is the the President at 9 World's Publishing, Inc, a world-class direct-response copywriter and a small business advocate with a heart for wanting to serve at the highest level. He has appeared on Geniuses of Copywriting Podcast with Brian Cassingena, The Grafted-in Marketing Podcast with Gary Morris and written books with Dan Kennedy, his mentor. Everte's Case Study Example - (Go to the 25th minute for the full breakdown)If you are selling diet plans, don't market to everyone who is fat. Not everyone who is fat wants to lose weight. If you market to people who are newly divorced, especially men, you'll sell a ton of stuff to them." So if Everte was going to sell weight loss products this is what he would do:1. He's going to look for guys who are over 35 who have been divorced or who's wives have filed for divorce. 2. He's going to find their public records, their driver's licence information and BMI's would be even better. If they were once high school athletes, then they may have met their wives in college and this would have been a contributing factor in them falling in love.3. He'd look for 35-50 year old men, who have been divorced are going through separation and have an income of 120,000+, so have a little disposable income.4. Over 35 year old men's testosterone starts to slowly decline. Most men do not stay in shape and by 35 they're starting to get little patchy and by 40 or 42, some are really heavy or unhealthy.5. These men usually work between 40-50 hours a week, usually have a lot more responsibilities and don't have time to work out. If you are in an unhappy marriage, people tend to eat or drink more and that helps them gain weight. 6. Showing your partner that you are beginning to take care of yourself, get fit, get strong and eat healthier will make you more attractive to your partner which human nature.7. Re-entering the dating scene at this age as a healthier man that takes care of himself will lead to better results, than someone who doesn't take care of themselves. In summary, you have to know your client, you have to know who you're selling to and picture all their needs, desires, problems, past, present and future self. This is the single most important thing to write successful copy. Everte's 7 Actionable Tasks1. Find out their pain points2. Find out what's holding them back3. Understand your client4. Aggravate that pain by digging deeper and finding the root cause (Problem Agitates Solution)5. Understand the product or service you are providing6. Understand the sales process and then just deploy that information in the correct way.7. Offer a solution to that pain (Attention Interest Desire Action)Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EverteTheCopywriter Website: http://evertefarnell.com/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Talking With Experts Podcast is the podcast for Business Owners, Entrepreneurs, Solopreneurs, Freelancers, CEO's, Coaches and anyone else that wants to become an expert and grow and scale their business. His credits include several singles for Garth Brooks, as well as singles by Gary Morris, Diamond Rio, Patty Loveless and Chris Young. Blazy has a total of seven number one hits to his credit. Kent Blazy was raised in Lexington, Kentucky. At an early age, he played rhythm guitar and sang in various local bands, citing The Byrds, Rodney Crowell and Joe Ely as influences. He later played for Canadian singer Ian Tyson. Later on, Blazy met former Exile member Mark Gray, who suggested that Blazy move to Nashville, Tennessee. Eventually, he signed to a publishing contract, but the publishing company closed; despite the loss of contract, Gary Morris sent Blazy's "Headed for a Heartache" into the top 5 on the country charts. By the late 1980s, Blazy met with a then-unknown Garth Brooks, who gave him the idea for a song entitled "If Tomorrow Never Comes." He and Brooks co-wrote the song, which went on to become Brooks' first number one hit. Brooks continued to record Blazy's material throughout the 1990s, including the singles "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)," "It's Midnight Cinderella," "She's Gonna Make It," "Somewhere Other Than the Night" and the George Jones duet "Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?)." He also co-wrote "That's What I Get for Lovin' You" by Diamond Rio and "Can't Get Enough" by Patty Loveless in the late 1990s. Blazy, along with songwriters Pat Alger, Tony Arata and Kim Williams, recorded an album entitled A Songwriters' Tribute to Garth Brooks, which included their renditions of songs that they had written for Brooks. This album was released in 2001 via VFR Records. Other songs that Blazy has co-written include "You Can Let Go" by Crystal Shawanda and "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)" by Chris Young from 2008 and 2009 respectively, as well as American Idol season 8 finalist Danny Gokey's debut single "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me."Intro music artist credit: Short Guitar Clip by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Artist: http://audionautix.com/

GARY MORRIS is known world-wide for his vocal mastery. His recording career garnered five #1 and 16 Top 10 singles, including “Why Lady Why,” “The Love She Found in Me,” “Baby Bye Bye.” Morris' original rendition of the classic “Wind Beneath My Wings” won both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music “Song of the Year” awards. Morris was also named Billboard's “Male Artist of the Year” early in his career. JASON COLEMAN & MEAGAN TAYLOR grew up with two legends at their instruments. Coleman's grandfather is the legendary pianist Floyd Cramer whose “slip note” piano style was an essential part of countless country, pop, and rock hits in the 1950s and ‘60s and exemplified by his 1960 smash hit, “Last Date”. Taylor picked up the guitar at 18 and turned to her uncle, one of the world's preeminent guitar virtuosos and most prolific record producers, “Uncle Chester” Chet Atkins for help in the months before he passed away. Their new album ‘Feel Like Home' honors their families love of music with a deep appreciation of the rich musical heritage while carrying it forward.
