Thirty years ago, Joshua Harris became the cheerleader for purity culture with his book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye." Since then, he's apologized for the book, exited from ministry and his marriage, and announced he's no longer a Christian. He talks to Skye about his journey from fundamentalism to deconstructionism, and back toward curiosity about Jesus. Also this week, how the Trump administration is making paganism great again, why secular progressives are rediscovering the benefits of religion, and how Christians in Springfield, Ohio, have organized to protect Haitian immigrants from deportation. Plus, cannibal jellyfish are taking over Venice, and Phil has seen the wrap light. The other day, Kate and I were talking about the reasons why we like working on staff versus freelancing. Candidly, Kate told me that being on staff can sometimes feel easier (don't worry, I asked her if I could share this conversation with you!). And, hey, some seasons in our lives we just need ease in certain areas. We want to put our feet up for a sec and breathe. Of course, we're still producing top-notch work. Working on staff just has a different set of challenges than freelancing. But one of the things we talked about was how ease can disguise itself as security. And so, that's where we started this conversation of this week's Build Your Copywriting Business podcast episode. Take a listen and let me know if this helps you bring more intention to the decisions you're making in your business. --------------- Mentioned in the Episode You're Most Secure When You Take Control Ep. 49: How to Build Your Own Benefits as a Freelancer How to Make Time for Freelance Work Ep. 195: Freelance vs. Contract: Which is Better? What if you're told you're in premature menopause at 34 – and your only path to pregnancy is IVF with donor eggs? In this episode, I'm joined by fitness coach Kyla Burke, who shares her personal journey with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), IVF, and ultimately pregnancy using donor eggs from a friend. Kyla talks honestly about: – Mistaking her early POI symptoms for lingering COVID effects – Learning what AMH actually means and how it changed her plans – Moving from her own eggs to donor eggs – emotionally and practically – The loss of control that comes with IVF and donor conception – How she prepared her body and mind for pregnancy after treatment – Staying active during pregnancy to support her mental health – The realities of postpartum recovery (and how pelvic floor therapy helped) – The pressure of “bouncing back” and unrealistic social media expectations – Aging, fitness, and maintaining health while building a family Throughout the conversation, Kyla comes back to one core message: You're not failing if treatment is hard, if transfers fail, or if you need donor eggs. Your body is not broken – and you deserve support for your mental health and recovery just as much as for your lab results. This episode is for anyone facing POI, IVF, donor eggs, or simply trying to hold onto their physical and emotional wellbeing through fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. ⚠️ Important: This episode is for education and reflection only. It is not medical, genetic, or legal advice. Always discuss your specific situation with your own care team or therapist.

Most smart women don't stay stuck in fertility treatment because they aren't trying hard enough. They stay stuck because the same pattern keeps repeating, even when the outcomes don't change. If you've done multiple cycles, followed every recommendation, tried different protocols, and still ended up with the same results, this episode is for you. This isn't about which supplement to take or what protocol to ask for next. It's about how fertility decisions are being made, and why that matters more than effort. In this episode, I break down the common patterns I see that keep people looping through treatment without getting real clarity. In this episode, you'll hear about: Why clinics often move straight to "try again" instead of stopping to look at what's actually happening How following the plan can feel safe, even when the plan isn't working Why being busy in treatment isn't the same as making progress How fear of rocking the boat keeps people doing the familiar, even when it's disappointing The quiet cost of time, money, and energy when nothing truly changes I also share why I created the Embryo Audit Checklist. Not to give you more things to do, but to help you step back and look at your own data clearly so you can see patterns instead of reacting to the next suggestion. Email hello@fabfertile.ca subject line CHECKLIST for your copy. I'm Sarah Clark, founder of Fab Fertile and host of Get Pregnant Naturally. For over a decade, my team and I have reviewed hundreds of low AMH and failed IVF cases using functional testing alongside conventional fertility care. We specialize in helping couples identify the physiological patterns driving poor outcomes so decisions are grounded in interpretation, not guesswork. This episode is for you if: You've done "everything right" but the outcomes keep repeating You feel like you're always doing something but not moving forward You want to understand what's missing before committing to another cycle
Jeannie Mai, host, style icon, mother, and one of the most recognizable voices in daytime television, opens up about her early Bay Area life that shaped her long before the spotlight. From leaving home at 14 and surviving sexual abuse, to learning how to reinvent, and soften without losing her edge, Jeannie reflects on the cost of becoming who the world sees + the courage it took to become who she actually is. Now in a new chapter she calls 'becoming', Jeannie talks honestly about divorce from her former husband Jeezy, motherhood, co-parenting, faith, healing, and what it really means to rise from the ashes. In this episode, Jeannie shares: What she learned from navigating instability at a young age, and how it influenced her approach to love and healing The community of women that rallied around her during her toughest moment. How survival skills can quietly become limitations in adulthood The difference between intensity vs. intimacy (and how chaos can masquerade as love) How to recognize when you’re performing love instead of living it Why being single can be “the most prized piece of land you’ll ever inherit” Why divorce feels like “experiencing death alive” Why the end of love often marks the beginning of real self-work What “doing the work” actually looks like after divorce Why healing requires time alone, but not isolation The role of movement, strength, and progress in healingWhy not taking things personally is an emotional superpower Jeannie opens up about the labels people love to slap on women (“divorced,” “single,” “46,” “mom”) + why they’ll never tell the full story Why children don’t exist to heal us, but often reflect us The tearful moment her daughter mirrored back words Jeannie had only ever prayed silently How she loves to show up + surprise her friends How to redefine healthy love without closing yourself off How faith evolves when you stop asking and start listening Follow Jeannie on Instagram @thejeanniemai and on her YouTube. She and Stick have uncovered a book that could finally wipe out the Hand, but it requires a King and a Queen. Translation: Daredevil and Elektra. Matt refuses, believing prison is his penance. Elektra walks away… but not from Hell's Kitchen. On the streets, Elektra becomes Daredevil — literally putting on the horns to protect the neighborhood while Matt can't. Her first night nearly kills her until Stick intervenes, confirming the book's prophecy: only one of the King or Queen survives. Meanwhile, symbiotes descend on the city, targeting a mother and her daughter Alice, and Elektra-as-Daredevil jumps straight into the chaos. The symbiote crisis explodes everywhere at once — Typhoid Mary joins the fight, Fisk scrambles for control, and the creatures even breach Matt's prison. Mistaking them for Venom at first, Daredevil is briefly overtaken by a symbiote tied to Knull himself, who offers partnership and power. Matt rejects it the hardest way possible — strapping himself into an electric chair to burn the symbiote out rather than escape prison. Elektra's war turns personal as Mary bonds with a symbiote and targets her. In a brutal construction-site showdown, Mary kills Alice's mother, nearly kills Elektra, and walks away believing Daredevil is dead. Elektra survives, consoles Alice, and quietly takes the orphaned girl under her wing — not to comfort her, but to prepare her. “First you're sad,” she tells her. “Then you're angry. That's when I can help.” Back inside, Matt spirals — poisoned, hallucinating, and haunted by the deaths tied to his past as a prosecutor. Inmates die mysteriously; the warden circles him like a vulture, and when Daredevil is lured into the yard, he's jumped, stabbed, and left bleeding out as the warden declares him dead. Crime shifts hands in Hell's Kitchen while Matt is down. Elektra shakes down Izzy Libris, demands tribute, and Izzy responds by handing control of Hell's Kitchen to Butch — an Owl defector and, in a major reveal in the Daredevil Annual last year, Wilson Fisk's son. Meanwhile, Mike Murdock is posing as Matt on the outside, secretly working with Butch to undermine Izzy from within. Matt survives the prison attack and wakes up in the hospital to Foggy, Kirsten, Cole North, and the FBI. They want his help investigating a string of inside-job murders in exchange for commuting his sentence. Matt agrees… but insists he'll still serve the full two years. This isn't about freedom anymore — it's about responsibility. Everything starts breaking loose at once: Elektra and Alice survive an ambush when Alice pulls the trigger herself; Fisk and Mary quietly plan their future over dinner; and Ravencroft calls with catastrophic news — Bullseye has slaughtered everyone inside and escaped. Two Daredevils. A rising crime heir. And the Devil's deadliest enemy is back on the board. The final story arch of 2021 is an action packed 6-book story arch called “Lock Down”. It's out with the old and in with the new...yes, Sharpay said it best. Of course the last episode of 2025 is all about what's coming with us into 2026 and what's staying back in 2025… like typing in lowercase, which really should not have even entered 2023, but I digress. So what's in for 2026? Fast-forming friendships, intentional spending, and therapy...even on your good days. And what's out? Mistaking standards for walls, keeping chapters open that should've been closed, and pretending we don't know better by now. There's a lot more where that came from. I could go on… and of course, I do. The scale and sophistication of fraudulent advertising and AI-generated scams on social media are growing rapidly, making it harder than ever for people to know what's real. New research from Visa in Ireland reveals that people who mistake fake AI-generated content for real are six times more likely to be tricked by scammers online than those who don't (73% vs. 12%). This highlights how digital misinformation directly increases vulnerability and underscores the importance of collective action to protect consumers and restore trust in digital platforms. In Ireland, Visa found that people who are affected by online scams typically lose €124.50 per incident (median amount), costing the Irish economy an estimated €71.8 million annually. The impact goes beyond financial loss, causing emotional distress, increased anxiety and reduced productivity. On average, victims of online scams spend around 8.9 days resolving the issue, which is 44% of the working month. The way people engage with content online plays a major role. Those who share a post without checking its accuracy first are five times more likely to be targeted and impacted by online scams compared to those who tend to take a moment to verify it first (35% vs. 6%). Every day online habits - such as skimming headlines, resharing without verifying and trusting AI-generated content - are creating new vulnerabilities that scammers are quick to exploit: 59% have believed online content was genuine, only to later discover it was an AI-generated fake Over a third (38%) rarely read beyond a headline before forming an opinion Almost a quarter (23%) have reshared a post without checking its accuracy The ripple effect of online scams As online scams grow more sophisticated and widespread, this shift in consumer behaviour is having a tangible impact on the wider economy. Almost half (42%) have changed how they shop online after being scammed, and one in two people (50%) targeted by online shopping scams say they now avoid shopping with smaller or unfamiliar brands. This is having a particularly significant impact on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which account for 99.8% of Ireland's business population and depend heavily on consumer confidence to survive and grow. Stepping up the fight against fraud Visa is stepping up the fight against social media scams - combining decades of experience with cutting-edge technology and working closely with banks, retailers, and digital platforms to restore trust in online commerce. AI has been central to Visa's approach to fraud prevention. For over 30 years, the company has used AI-powered tools to help keep payments secure and stay ahead of evolving threats. In the last five years alone, Visa has invested $12 billion in technology, including building smart, AI-powered systems that detect suspicious behaviour in real time and stop scams before they reach people. Awareness is as critical as technology. With almost two in five (39%) people believing AI will make scams harder to spot on social media, Visa is taking proactive steps to close that gap. Tackling fraud requires a united front, and Visa is committed to collaborating across the ecosystem to set new standards for consumer protection. By working closely with banks, retailers and platforms to ensure consumers have the right advice at their fingertips, Visa is helping people recognise an AI-generated scam, understand how they work, and stay safe in an increasingly AI-driven digital world. Because the more informed people are, the harder it is for scammers to succeed. Visa is calling on all stakeholders - platforms, banks, retailers and policymakers - to work together to raise the bar for digital trust and consumer protection. Conor Langford, Visa Country Manager for Ireland said: "AI is transforming how we live, shop, work and connect, but it's also reshaping the landscape for fraud. Scammers are using the same technology that brings us innovation to deceive and exploit consumers, blurrin...

What if the symptoms you're brushing off like fatigue, mood swings, and sleepless nights, aren't just “normal stress,” but real signals your hormones are shifting? This episode is brought to you by Audible, Fatty15 and LMNT. Today I we sit down with psychotherapist and author Jessica Baum to explore how our earliest attachment patterns and trauma bonds shape the way we love, connect, and heal. Drawing from her groundbreaking new book SAFE: A Process for Creating Safe and Intimate Relationships with Yourself and Others, Jessica explains how the body stores implicit memory, why safety—not strength—is the gateway to healing, and how we can transform our nervous system responses to build secure, authentic relationships. Together, Chase and Jessica dive into the neuroscience of trauma healing, the difference between familiar love and real safety, the role of co-regulation, and how facing your own fears of abandonment can lead to the deepest peace and connection you've ever known. REAL DROP 06:“Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. And I've never felt more free and more alive.” Meet Bianca, content creator, model, photographer & wellness instructor and she's done keeping up with comp het.For years, she lived the version of life she thought she should: married young, doing everything “right,” until she realized she was living for approval, not truth. In this drop, Skylar & Bianca unpack compulsory heterosexuality: the quiet system that conditions women to assume they're straight, even when they're not. Together, they explore what it means to unlearn everything you've been taught about love, gender, desire and reclaim who you are, regardless of what the world tells you to be. Bianca opens up about:→ Mistaking safety and friendship for attraction.→ The moment she stopped bending herself to fit a mold.→ Coming out as a deeper act of coming home to herself. If you've ever felt late to your own life, you weren't.You were surviving in a world that made it hard to know yourself. And on the other side of unlearning? Freedom. Sales activity is the lifeblood of your career. But for too many salespeople, it's the very thing holding them back. You're generating a ton of activity, your calendar is packed, your inbox is overflowing, and by the end of the day, you're drained. But your numbers aren't moving. You're not gaining ground; you're just driving in circles. As Ron Karr, author of Velocity Mindset, says, the difference between amateurs and top performers isn't how fast they move, but whether they're moving with a clear, defined direction. The problem isn't laziness. It's that you're mistaking motion for momentum. And that's why you feel stuck. The Problem: Sales Activity Without Purpose Most salespeople today are trapped in a cycle of sales activity that leads nowhere. Instead of pursuing long-term, meaningful outcomes, they chase short-term wins: a quick meeting booked, a proposal sent, a Request for Proposal (RFP) answered. But those wins don't move the needle. They pull you onto a field controlled by competitors. You're responding to bids, filling out forms, and competing on price. That's not selling—it's order-taking. And order-taking will keep you broke no matter how much activity you pile on. The Real Cost of “Busyness” Busyness isn't just about wasted time. It's about emotional avoidance. The reason you bury yourself in low-value sales activity is that it feels safe. These tasks create the illusion of productivity while shielding you from what you're really afraid of: rejection. Instead of calling the prospect who's gone cold, you refresh your CRM. Rather then reaching out to the big account you've been circling, you tidy your inbox. Instead of pushing into a tough conversation, you polish the proposal one more time. You're not lazy. You're working hard. But effort without purpose is like a car spinning its wheels in the mud. Lots of noise, lots of energy, but no forward motion. The Solution: High-Leverage Sales Activity Not all sales activity is created equal. Some actions produce a 10x return. Others are pure waste. Top performers know the difference—and ruthlessly prioritize the former. Here are three high-leverage sales activities that separate pros from amateurs: Proactive Prospecting Your sales pipeline is the fuel tank for your career. If it's empty, you're not going anywhere. Prospecting isn't a side task you do when you have extra time. It is the job. That means making outbound calls, sending personalized emails, and using LinkedIn to connect with people who aren't already in your orbit. Stop waiting for the phone to ring. Go make it ring. Meaningful Conversations Once you get a prospect's attention, the goal isn't to rattle off product features. It's to have a value-driven conversation. That means asking discovery questions that uncover their goals, their pain points, and their motivations. It means showing up as an expert and positioning yourself as a trusted advisor, not another vendor. When you consistently create conversations that center around the customer's needs, you become indispensable. Prospects should feel like they'd be foolish not to work with you. The Power of “No” Not every opportunity deserves your time. Amateurs say yes to every opportunity and demo request. Top performers say no. Qualify hard; disqualify fast. The hours you spend chasing a dead deal are hours you could invest in finding a stronger one. Being busy with the wrong opportunities makes you broke. Saying no to the wrong leads frees you up to say yes to the right ones. Your Action Plan To Go From “Just Busy” To Productive Breaking the cycle of wasted sales activity requires intention and discipline. Here's how to start: Step 1: The Activity Audit For one week, track everything you do—calls, emails, meetings, busywork. Your Action Plan To Go From “Just Busy” To Productive Breaking the cycle of wasted sales activity requires intention and discipline. At the end of the week, review your log and ask: Which of these activities directly moved a deal forward or created new pipeline? Most of what you thought was productive won't make the cut. Step 2: Time-Block for High-Leverage Work You would never cancel a meeting with your top client. Treat your most important sales activity—prospecting—the same way. Block it on your calendar as non-negotiable. Protect it from distractions. Turn off email, silence notifications, and shut your door. This is your sacred time to build pipeline. Nothing else takes priority. Step 3: Make the Mindset Shift The best salespeople aren't the ones who never get rejected. They're the ones who get rejected the most—because they're taking the most shots. Every no gets you closer to a yes. Every uncomfortable conversation sharpens your skills. Once you accept rejection as the path to progress, the busywork loses its grip. Stop Confusing Motion with Momentum Sales activity alone doesn't make you successful. This talk on reincarnation takes a different angle from our earlier discussion in the Bhagavad-gita Wisdom Series. Last time, we explored how we came to have our present body. In this session, we shift the focus to discussing two common ideas about reincarnation — that it offers a second chance to “get things right,” or that it's like being stuck on an endless treadmill. As part of the discussion we also delve into the Vedic perspective on the repeated cycle of birth and death, known as saṁsāra.The link to the ancient Vedic story about Jaḍa Bharata which I mentioned in the talk is here:Mistaking a Saint for a Fool – Jada Bharata - https://open.spotify.com/episode/0pwBt4zs0EqWUDMmWYNURx?si=5QF4-a-IRNGhBGw_GIpyvQ The Vedic verses I quote in this talk: As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.13As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.22Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, that state he will attain without fail. - Bhagavad-gītā 8.6The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another as the air carries aromas. - Bhagavad-gītā 15.8The caterpillar transports itself from one leaf to another by capturing one leaf before giving up the other. Similarly, according to his previous work, the living entity must capture another body before giving up the one he has. This is because the mind is the reservoir of all kinds of desires. - Bhāgavata Purāṇa 4.29.76-77The living entity, thus taking another gross body, obtains a certain type of ear, tongue, and nose and sense of touch, which are grouped about the mind. He thus enjoys a particular set of sense objects. - Bhagavad-gītā 15.9When the living entity passes from the present body to the next body, which is created by his own karma, he becomes absorbed in the pleasurable and painful sensations of the new body and completely forgets the experience of the previous body. This total forgetfulness of one's previous material identity, which comes about for one reason or another, is called death. In this podcast episode, Marlana Baylis explores the critical distinction between potential and purpose, particularly for powerful women who often over-invest in relationships and projects based on perceived potential. She discusses the emotional toll of over-functioning and the importance of centering one's energy around personal purpose to avoid burnout and resentment. The episode emphasizes the need for self-awareness and alignment with one's true mission to attract the right people and opportunities.TakeawaysWe often confuse potential with purpose.Powerful women tend to over-invest in broken relationships.Emotional over-functioning can lead to burnout. It's essential to check in with your purpose regularly.Seeing someone's potential doesn't mean they recognize it.Over-giving can lead to resentment in relationships. You have to manage your energy and capacity.Realigning with your purpose helps in decision-making.Attract the right people by living in your purpose. It's not your job to close the gap for others. When Steve Smith set out to hitchhike from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to Canada's west coast back in 1968, he was just an eighteen-year-old hippie with an appetite for adventure. But a short way into his journey, a reckless decision to steal a car landed him in police custody. Afraid of getting caught with the two tabs of acid in his pocket, Steve popped them into his mouth. It was one of the worst decisions of his life.Mistaking his drug trip for a mental breakdown, the authorities placed him in Ontario's notorious Oak Ridge mental health facility. While there, not only did he find himself shoulder-to-shoulder with people like notorious child killer Peter Woodcock and mass murderers Matt Lamb and Victor Hoffman, he also fell into the hands of someone worse: Dr. Elliot T. Barker.Over the next eight months, Barker subjected Steve and the other patients to a battery of unorthodox experiments involving LSD, scopolamine, methamphetamines, and other drugs. Steven also experienced numerous other forms of abuse and torture.Following his release, Steve continued to suffer the aftereffects of his Oak Ridge experience. For several years, he found himself in and out of prison—and back to Oak Ridge—before he was finally able to establish himself as a successful entrepreneur.Once he began investigating what happened to him during his youth, not even Steve was prepared for what he would discover about Barker, Oak Ridge, and one of the darkest periods in Canada's treatment of mental health patients. The question remains: Was Oak Ridge and Dr. Barker trying to cure psychopaths or trying to create and direct them?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.
In manufacturing, it's easy to get caught up in day-to-day production numbers, KPIs, and hitting targets. But what about the bigger picture? How do we inspire our teams to not only do great work, but to actually want to be part of something greater? In this new episode with guest Simon Vetter, we dive deep into an overlooked-yet-powerful aspect of manufacturing leaderships: vision. Simon is a Vision Architect, executive coach, and speaker who helps leaders cultivate vision-driven, engaging environments. He's also one of the authors of Leading with Vision: The Leader's Blueprint for Creating a Compelling Vision and Engaging the Workforce. MagaMama with Kimberly Ann Johnson: Sex, Birth and Motherhood
Return guest Ash Robinson dives deep with Kimberly Ann Johnson into the challenges and opportunities for women in business amidst the current economic and technological climate. They discuss the role of AI on personal and professional life, the importance of financial stability, and the need for a clear vision and strategy, particularly for women. Ash emphasizes the significance of taking stock of one's current situation, identifying needs, and focusing on sustainable growth. They also touch on the role of professional resourcing, the balance between enduring and sacrificing, and the importance of community and support in achieving long-term goals. This Fall, they will be offering round 2 of the Mastermind for Women Entrepreneur, so look out for a sign-up announcement coming this August! Bio Ash Robinsoon is the strategist standing behind many leaders who are doing their big work. From Ash: “I'm a wife, mother of three, and deeply value my family life. As a CEO for most of my career, I spent most of my time creating and building, not consulting. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and have personally worked in both product and service businesses across many industries, including early education, fitness, consumer products, online education, brick and mortar, franchise systems, and technology (software). My experience is a unique blend of professional management and entrepreneurship in both private and public companies. In 2014, I co-founded bon-fire for business, an experiential education and consulting firm that leverages strategic planning and human design to bridge the gap between untapped potential and business performance. bon-fire is built on the idea that human beings are driven to create value, and that creating a path for harnessing talent and creating sustainable, thriving culture is the surest way to win in our networked age. For the last 15 years, I have been a student of people and the teams and organizations they work on-- from my work in early education leading a team of hundreds to my own pursuit of optimal health and making a real difference in my work. My passion and research in neuroscience, cognition, behavior change, and culture inform both the tools and approach we use in bon·fire. I believe that your organization is actually a living system- highly adaptable, renewable, and self-organizing- which creates the possibility for a new level of both value creation and engagement with your vision and effective progress toward it. Business can be a bridge— igniting the spark of the human spirit and providing the structure in which a committed group of people make a positive impact. My passion is for bringing people around the bon·fire to achieve extraordinary personal and business performance. I believe we have to build the world we want to belong to.” What You'll Hear After seeing so many women's businesses thrive from their masterminding course they wanted to craft another offering. Our finances are a huge part of our eros and how we express ourselves in the world What role does AI play in online and coaching businesses? To build the world we want to belong to that's our work to do What does AI use tell us about our nervous systems Do one thing well Uncertainty creates instability When we are clear we can take more embodied action to what we are after. Existential dilemmas live in the parasympathetic nervous system Action comes from a healthy sympathetic drive How do you young people deal with a helpless parasympathetic response to the world? Mistaking business/system problems for personal problems The how do wee accomplish the vision can be messy Finding clarity not all about a perfect strategy it's also about being resourced and nourished Trying to take stock of the “As Is View” What do I need to get where I want to go? Reaching financial goals always has a weigh Links Website: https://bon-fire.co/ IG: @ashrobinsoncalhoun
Dr. Jacob Barandes is a professor of Physics at Harvard University who studies the foundations of physics. He has emerged as a leading skeptic of the idea that our universe is somehow fundamentally mathematical in nature, marking a full cycle of more than two thousand years of ink spilled about the nature of the universe. Barandes has found that there is a way of modeling the basement membrane of reality as being made of bodies with location, where everything from superposition to electricity and magnetism are a product of the motions of these bodies. Our conversation spans the basic principles that Barandes has used to arrive at this conclusion, the vital role that confusion over what constitutes a “measurement” plays in producing a highly paradoxical interpretation of nature, and the fact that this debate about the nature of the universe - substance versus mathematics - has been raging for more than two thousand years, with no end in sight.
