All-rounder Cameron Green says he'll head into the Australian Test summer with no bowling workloads as he prepares to tick off a major personal milestone against the West Indies in Perth. The first Test of the series starts on Wednesday and will be Green's first in his home state after 14 matches across Australia and the rest of the world. Green heads into the Test series still eyeing a maiden century, and he'll be a huge part of the middle-order as the Aussies look to retain their world number-one ranking. While he has struggled with injuries in the past, Green says there are no directives from Cricket Australia for him to take it easy this summer. Lleyton Hewitt has revealed he has done everything he can to convince Nick Kyrgios to return to play for Australia in the Davis Cup. The captain made the statement after Australia was beaten 2-0 in the final against Canada on Monday — ending a surprise run where the Aussie team reached the final for the first time in 19 years. Hewitt said he'd tried everything he could to entice Kyrgios back into the fold with Alex De Minaur claiming to have personally asked Kyrgios to join the team for the finals assault. A former Australian tennis star is one of many new MPs heading into Victorian parliament. Sam Groth, who is a former world number 53 male tennis player and holds the record for the world's fastest serve, was elected in the seat of Nepean on the Mornington Peninsula on Saturday. The 35-year-old father of young twin boys was a Liberal candidate and said he wanted to go into politics to “make a difference”. Groth ousted incumbent Labor MP Chris Brayne. The Liberals held the seat of Nepean between 2002 and 2018, but lost it to Labor at the last election. Dragons fullback Cody Ramsey is battling a serious illness that could force him to give up rugby league. News Corp revealed the 22-year-old has spent the past fortnight in hospital after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and may require surgery. The disease causes inflammation and ulcers on the bowel and digestive tract and is often caused by an immune system malfunction. Ramsey's mum, Kim, told News Corp that he was admitted to hospital after experiencing severe pain following a long-distance run at training. He ran 9 and a half KM before being admitted to hospital.
Sam Groth says there is no doubt the Liberal Party needs to take a hard look at itself and it's up to the likes of him to change the party's direction.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
