Brendan O'Neill, author and writer for Spiked Online, and Suella Braverman, Reform spokeswoman for education, skills and equalities, come on The Julia Hartley-Brewer Show to discuss the war on woke and Reform UK's new ‘shadow cabinet'. Reform UK announced the first four members of their ‘shadow cabinet': the spokespeople for various ministerial roles that would make up Reform's cabinet if they get into power. Zia Yusuf was announced as ‘shadow home secretary',Richard Tice was announced as business, trade and energy spokesman and would be deputy PM, Robert Jenrick was announced as ‘shadow chancellor of the exchequer', And Suella Braverman was announced as education, skills and equalities spokeswoman. She vowed to repeal the Equality Act and stop schools from creating the ‘next generation of eco-zealots'. Brendan O'Neill has just written a book - Vibe Shift - that outlines how ordinary, working class people have fought against the out-of-touch political, media and business classes to rally against woke-ism on climate, Brexit, and transgenderism. Also: Labour's U-turn on council elections, as they announced 30 council elections would go ahead in May. Steve Reed, minister for local government, had previously sought to delay them as authorities were reorganised. But there was public outcry, as democracy would have been denied for over four million people. Reform were polling well in many of the districts that were going to have their vote denied. And how the ECHR could be used to enable family members of Gazan refugees to come to Britain. Julia Hartley-Brewer broadcasts on Talk from Monday to Thursday, 10AM to 1PM. Doomberg: Gold’s New Role in A Multi-Polar World, World War 3 & The AI Singularity

Stijn Schmitz welcomes Doomberg to the show. Doomberg is the head writer For The Doomberg Team and creator of the Doomberg Substack. The interview delves into the complex geopolitical landscape, focusing on the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world, with particular emphasis on the rising power of China and the potential decline of the United States. Doomberg argues that the world is effectively in the early stages of World War III, which began around 2014, characterized by economic and strategic conflicts between the Western-based financial system and the emerging global south led by China and BRICS countries. A significant part of the discussion centers on technological transformation, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). Doomberg highlights the rapid acceleration of AI capabilities, with the doubling time of technological advancement potentially shrinking to weeks. He suggests that AI and robotics could fundamentally reshape geopolitical dynamics, potentially mitigating demographic challenges for countries like China. The conversation also explores critical mineral dynamics, energy markets, and the potential for de-dollarization. Doomberg believes there is substantial room for gold to appreciate as a neutral reserve asset, potentially reaching prices around $5,000 to $21,000 per ounce to rejuvenate US manufacturing and global trade settlements. Regarding the United States’ future, Doomberg remains cautiously optimistic. He argues that despite current challenges, the US has significant advantages, including being the world’s largest energy producer, advanced AI capabilities, and substantial natural resources. However, he emphasizes the importance of strategic focus and avoiding resource-draining international conflicts. Lastly the conversation touches on Europe’s diminishing global relevance, primarily due to its energy dependence and lack of industrial capacity. Doomberg suggests the European Union is already experiencing structural challenges that could potentially lead to its fragmentation. Ultimately, Doomberg presents a nuanced view of global power dynamics, emphasizing technological innovation, energy resources, and strategic adaptability as key factors in determining future geopolitical landscapes. In this episode of Mining Minds, we sit down with Kevin Neville at the Utah Mining Association Convention to unpack a raw, honest journey through underground hard rock mining, international contract work, and the realities of chasing success without losing yourself along the way. From his first awe-filled moments descending a shaft at Resolution Copper to managing the mental, physical, and emotional toll of long rotations in Mexico, Kevin shares what it truly means to grow up in the mining industry. Kevin talks about the value of hard work learned early in life, the power of mentors who shape careers underground, and the importance of recognizing burnout before it costs you more than a paycheck. We dive into mining culture, leadership lessons, work-life balance, and why underground mining still holds a special place in his heart—even after stepping into a new chapter outside the mine. Please help us welcome Kevin Neville to the Face! Thank you to the Utah Mining Association for welcoming us as part of your incredible event and for your continued support in amplifying the voices inside our industry.   Episode Sponsors: Safety First Training and Consulting JSR Fleet Performance Motor Mission Machine & Radiator    Episode Chapters:  02:56 High School and Early Adulthood 07:00 Mission Experience in Argentina 29:13 Learning from History and Leadership 29:43 Gratitude and Mentorship in Mining 31:16 Challenges and Misconceptions in Mining 49:56 Venturing into International Mining 01:00:57 Balancing Family and Work Life 01:01:09 Reconnecting with Old Friends 01:02:40 Career Transitions and Challenges 01:05:55 Finding Fulfillment in a New Role

A National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children is being established, a move hailed by advocates as a milestone for independent accountability in closing the gap for youth justice and welfare. However, critics like Senator Lidia Thorpe warn that without federal power to penalise states or compel compliance, the role risks becoming a matter of optics over tangible safety.

In part one of this two-part conversation, they discuss what to look for when stepping into a new worship pastor role, navigating the tension between excellence and authenticity, and how to lead a production team you can never actually be with. Both Matt and Sean have led in large churches, small churches, and multi-site churches. They've both been the worship pastor who also had to somehow lead the tech team. This conversation pulls back the curtain on the real challenges worship pastors face and offers practical wisdom for anyone in church production or worship leadership. In This Episode What to look for when interviewing for a worship pastor role - Why you need to see people at their worst before taking the job, and the red flags Sean wishes he'd paid more attention to Excellence vs. authenticity - How to define excellence in a way that doesn't lead to perfectionism, and why "doing the best you can with what you have" changes everything The worship/production leadership dilemma - Why churches should stop hiring one person to do both roles, and what to do if you're already in that position You're a pastor first - Why your primary objective is discipleship, not musicianship, and how that changes the way you lead your team Timestamps 00:00 - Introduction: Meet Sean Bennett 03:27 - What I'd Do Differently Stepping Into a New Role 08:04 - The Tension Between Excellence and Authenticity 13:16 - Leading a Production Team You Can Never Be With 18:15 - You're a Pastor First, Leader Second Key Quotes "Excellence is doing the best you can with what you have. That starts with being honest about what you actually have." "If you're leading people, you are a pastor. Your primary objective is discipleship - helping someone become more like Jesus." "There are some churches that could not pay me enough to work for them. And knowing that ahead of time is a good thing." Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you a law firm owner looking to hire new talent? In this episode of Maximum Lawyer Live, host Tyson Mutrux explores the challenges law firms face when hiring and onboarding associate attorneys. Tyson discusses the need for documented standards, regular feedback, and patience, highlighting that onboarding is a long-term investment in future capacity—not instant output.Hiring for law firms can be challenging, but it is important to understand onboarding and to have realistic expectations. This includes the concept of output versus capacity. When you hire new attorneys, you are not seeing instant capacity or input. You are buying future capacity. A new associate needs time to understand your core values and both learn and unlearn certain skills and tools. As a law firm owner, it is important to give someone the space to grow into a successful attorney.Defining success is very important when hiring new attorneys, especially if you want to retain your talent. It is your responsibility to define what success looks like. Think about what it looks like at the 30, 60 and 180 day mark. If this is expressed to your new attorneys, you can work with them to ensure they meet that mark. It is also important to not move the goalpost at all. This can really lead to new hires losing confidence in their ability to do well, causing them to leave to find other opportunities. Take a listen!1:19 Expectations of Onboarding7:08 The First 30 Days in a New Role.14:14 The “Why” Behind Firm Processes18:55 Hiring Experienced Attorneys22:04 The Importance of Defining Success Tune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here.

I'm so excited to welcome Laura Thweatt back to the podcast today, and we've got a little bonus reunion because my friend Peter Bromka joined us as well. Peter is one of my co-hosts on Relay and Road to the Trials, and when he found out Laura was coming on he asked if he could join which honestly made this conversation even more fun. Laura is someone who has been such a huge part of the running community for years. She ran professionally for over a decade, placed fifth at the 2020 Olympic Trials Marathon, and most recently stepped into a new chapter as a coach with the On Athletics Club, working alongside Dathan Ritzenhein and Kelsey Quinn. In this conversation, Laura walks us through what that transition has really been like, from the excitement of a dream opportunity to the intimidation and learning curve of stepping into a high-performance coaching role. She shares a hilarious story from her very first day on the job that involves borrowed bikes, missed splits, and trying to figure things out on the fly, and we talk honestly about identity, grief, and growth when you close one chapter and open another. Laura also shares what she's learned working closely with athletes like Joe Klecker, Ryan Ford, and Helen Obiri, including how much happens behind the scenes to support athletes on race day and how coaching has allowed her to experience the highs and lows of the sport in a completely new way. This was one of those conversations that felt like it went by way too fast, and I'm so grateful Laura and Peter joined me for it. Topics discussed: Laura's transition from professional runner to coach with On Athletics Club How the coaching opportunity came together with Dathan Ritzenhein Feeling intimidated and learning to trust herself in a new role Laura's chaotic and hilarious first day on the job Building trust and relationships with elite athletes Supporting athletes moving from track to roads and the marathon Managing expectations and pressure in a very public sport Grieving the end of a racing career while embracing a new chapter Experiencing race-day highs and lows as a coach instead of an athlete Aletheia Run lets you see what your body is actually doing with every step by using a lightweight sensor that creates a unique force portrait of your movement. It gives personalized feedback, targeted drills, and science-backed insights to improve performance and help prevent injuries, bringing the running lab right to your everyday training. Noogs: If you love sour candy and want something that actually works for fueling, Noogs has quickly become one of my favorites. They're sour energy chews that taste amazing without being overpowering, and they give you the electrolytes and energy you actually want before or during a run. I love popping a couple before a workout, and their caffeinated chews are especially impressive because they don't have that bitter taste you sometimes get with caffeine. Use code “another15” for 15% off your first order. Rocket Money — If you've ever looked at your bank statement and thought, why am I still paying for this, Rocket Money makes it so much easier to clean that up. It helps you find and cancel unwanted subscriptions, keeps an eye on your spending across accounts, and can even help you lower bills so you can grow your savings. I signed up for the premium level recently and it pulled out things I genuinely did not realize I was still paying for. Save yourself the monthly leaks and check it out at rocketmoney.com/gorun.

Mohammed bin Salman's claim that Osama bin Laden used Saudis to destroy U.S.-Saudi relations is crap. MBS says he wants a two state solution with Israel and Palestine but he won't take in one Palestinian from Gaza. Later, NY Post's Miranda Devine criticizes the FBI and Secret Service for mishandling the investigation into Thomas Crooks' attempted assassination of Donald Trump at a 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania rally. An independent source uncovered Crooks' 17 online accounts revealing his ideological shift from pro-Trump supporter in 2019—issuing threats against Democrats—to anti-Trump critic by 2020, with increasingly violent rhetoric advocating terrorism, assassination, and interactions with a neo-Nazi. The Crooks files need to be released.  Also, Gov Mike Dunleavy calls in to discuss a new discovery at Alaska's Graphite Creek site near Nome which has uncovered vast reserves of graphite and rare earth elements potentially dealing a major blow to China's 90% dominance in these minerals. The project qualifies for Defense Production Act materials and plans to ship resources to an Ohio plant, maximizing value through by-product recovery. This find allows the U.S. to wean off China's rare earth minerals. Afterward, all of the so-called Epstein files will be released. Rep Clay Higgins was the only Congressman to vote against it, but he has a good point.
