[Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.]One of the very best parts of having a returning guest on Collider Ladies Night? Realizing how much they've accomplished during such a short period of time. Geraldine Viswanathan made her first Ladies Night appearance in 2020 for The Broken Hearts Gallery and since has completed a four-season run on Miracle Workers, starred opposite Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks and Sarah Snook in The Beanie Bubble, headlined Drive-Away Dolls with Margaret Qualley, made Oh, Hi! with Molly Gordon which secured distribution out of Sundance 2025, and now she's part of one of the biggest film franchises of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Viswanathan makes her first MCU appearance as Mel in Thunderbolts*. She's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) extremely attentive and diligent assistant. Initially, she seems quite loyal too, but when Bucky (Sebastian Stan) suggests Mel secretly slip him information on Val in hopes of having her impeached, eventually, Mel concedes. While that choice may suggest Mel's willingness to double-cross her boss, ultimately, she changes course again, pushing the button that saves Val's life from the Sentry (Lewis Pullman). So where does Mel stand? Does she skew more villain than hero? Does she still admire Valentina? That's exactly what I dug into with Viswanathan during her second Collider Ladies Night interview. Hosted on Acast. Listeners to last week's show may remember one correspondent's story of a film eliciting this mysterious and elusive sound—and you've kindly sent in some examples to clear up this crucial matter for us. Mmhmm. Grown-up Aussie animation ‘Memoir of a Snail' is first on Mark's review slate this week--starring Sarah Snook and with a voice cast including Nick Cave and Jacki Weaver, the crafted stop-motion story follows the melancholic life of a reclusive, snail collecting misfit in 1970s Canberra. On a lighter note, to solve all your lovers' tiffs about what genre to go for this Valentine's Day movie night, a review of the romcom-slasher hybrid ‘Heart Eyes'. And last but certainly not least—'Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy', fourth instalment of the British romcom institution starring Renée Zellweger in which Bridget gets back to dating for the first time after the death of Mark (Colin Firth). Our guests this week are Stephen Graham and Malchi Kirby—who star in the Steven Knight-penned Victorian boxing drama ‘A Thousand Blows', out next week. In it, a bulked-up Graham plays Henry ‘Sugar' Goodson—the fearsome East End boxer and adversary of Kirby's Hezekiah Moscow. Hezekiah arrives in 1800s London from Jamaica, hoping to fulfil his dream of becoming a lion tamer at the zoo—but finds himself at the heart of the city's criminal underworld, orchestrated by Mary Carr (Erin Doherty), ‘Queen' of the all-female crime gang The Forty Elephants. Simon chats to the stars about getting into the ring together in this gritty drama based on real historical figures, getting ripped, Jamaican heritage and more. On this episode, Andrew catches up with Academy Award winning master of stop motion animation, Adam Elliot, and Emmy award and AACTA award winning screen legend, Sarah Snook, to talk about their mollusk-motion flick, Memoir of a Snail.Memoir of a Snail is driven by the delightfully dark sense of comedy and a relatable pathos, both of which bring the off-kilter world of Grace Pudel (Sarah Snook) and her equally orphaned twin brother Gilbert (Kodi Smit-McPhee) to life. It's a film that's resonated immensely with audiences around the world, with each person able to find a little bit of themselves in this tender tale of Grace and her obsession with snails. As always, Elliot is able to bring forth a welcome sense of groundedness to his characters, and while they may physically appear eccentric, there's something about each and every one of them that makes us feel seen. As with his previous film, Mary & Max, Elliot actively removes stigmas associated with those who live with mental illnesses, while also shining a light on those who try to vilify, condemn, or in the case of Gilbert, cruelly convert them away from their true self. The authenticity that sits at the core of Memoir of a Snail is not just driven by the characters we see on screen, but also from the empathetic and grounded voice work from Snook, Smit-McPhee, and other Aussie screen icons like Jackie Weaver, Magda Szubanski, Tony Armstrong, Eric Bana, while French icon Dominique Pinon also makes an appearance. In the following conversations with Adam, then with Sarah, I talk about how they both built that relatability on screen, what it means to show Australian stories in this way, and curiously, the importance of dress up boxes in the homes of Australian kids. Fall back in time with Legends Podcast! All month long, we're talking about time travel, paradoxes, and being your own Grandpa. We're back in 2014, to live, die, and repeat the process as the snake eats its own tail. Ethan Hawke plays a timecop who meets a stranger in a bar, played by Succession's Sarah Snook. Once the stranger tells his story, none of their lives will ever be the same, while the lives of thousands hang in the balance amid a mysterious bombing spree. Based on Robert A. Heinlein's classic short story  ‘—All You Zombies—' and directed by the Spierig Brothers, this indie Aussie flick may not have reinvented the box office, but it might contain enough twists to make temporal sleuths happy. The outcome is not pre-ordained! Will our time travel month have a happy ending, or does this strange loop leave us feeling… not ourselves? Twenty-three years later, over a thousand families are still waiting for news of loved ones lost in the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11. Correspondent Scott Pelley looks at how efforts to search for and identify their remains have never stopped, driven by the promise made by the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Pelley visits their laboratory, which is using new advancements in DNA research and breakthrough techniques to provide answers for families holding on to hope. This is a double-length segment. Correspondent Jon Wertheim reports on a phenomenon that has long captured Hollywood: the outsized presence of Australians earning top billings and awards on the American silver screen – in front of and behind the camera. Wertheim interviews Aussie actress Sarah Snook and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann about the country's renowned training grounds for the dramatic arts, their pathways to international theater, film and television and the Australian mindset on stardom. Correspondent Lesley Stahl travels to the remote, Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan, a tiny country that has fiercely protected its unique culture, declaring that within its borders, Gross National Happiness is more important than Gross National Product. But today, the country is facing a crisis — 9% of its population has left Bhutan for higher-paying jobs abroad, so the government has launched a high-stakes plan to help the economy and lure young Bhutanese back by developing an entirely new city from scratch — what the King is calling a "mindfulness" city. Across the world, the rise of various forms of authoritarianism and ethno-nationalism seems to be on an ever upward trend. This creates huge uncertainties across multiple dimensions – personal, cultural, political, and not least of which in challenges business leaders face as they attempt to navigate across this uncertainty. All of this turmoil is, according to Larry Kramer - the Vice Chancellor and President of the London School of Economics - to be expected. Neo-liberalism, the once dominant political/economic paradigm, is no longer able to explain or order our understandings of our world. This triggers a search for, and creation of, alternatives. If, or until a different liberal paradigm emerges, we are destined to contend with illiberal, authoritarian and often ethno-national alternatives. In this podcast Larry and I discuss the fall of neo-liberalism and the emerging contours of what may come to replace it. How and when this new paradigm emerges and whether it will successfully defeat the existing alternatives is perhaps the most important question we will face in the next decade(s). Larry provides a thoughtful and provocative framework in which to understand these macro trends. Prior to being appointed to lead the LSE, Larry was the President of the Willam and Flora Hewlett Foundation for 12 years. With assets of over $14 billion, the Foundation is one of the largest sources of grants in the USA. Prior to his work at the Foundation, Larry was the Dean of the Stanford Law School and is a world expert in US Constitutional law and the role of judicial review within that system. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to discuss recent shifts in the US Supreme Court with such an expert, at the end of our conversation we discuss these developments as an example of the power of a paradigm shift - the rise of ‘originalism' as a reaction to the state-led expansion of individual rights – to take on real world consequences. In this context, we discuss the Dobbs decision, the overturning of the Chevron defence and the emerging presidential immunity doctrine. My discussion with Larry reminded me of how fortunate we are at TRIUM to have the LSE as a partner. The depth of analysis and understanding of the macro trends affecting the environment in which business operates continues to be a unique selling point of our EMBA. On today's episode, I have actress and Emmy nominated director, Daina Reid! Daina and I first crossed paths a few years ago through the Sundance Film Festival with her film, "Run Rabbit Run". My Sundance 2023 coverage was limited given my own filming schedule, but Daina was somebody I had really wanted to talk to about this film and I am so glad we were finally able to make this happen. The day we recorded this the new Elizabeth Moss led Hulu show "The Veil" premiered their first two episodes which Daina directed! On the episode we talked about how Daina got her start, acting on the hit Austrailan sketch show "Full Frontal", getting back to directing, working with comedy heroes like Greg Daniels and Steve Carrell on "Space Force", getting her Emmy nomination for "The Handmaid's Tale", directing for TV vs. directing for film, working with Sarah Snook and Lily LaTorre on "Run Rabbit Run", how the film came together, and so much more! A huge Thank You to Daina Reid for taking the time to join me. It took some coordination to make this episode happen since Daina was back home in Melbourne, 17 hours ahead of me here in Los Angeles, but we had such a great time chatting! You can watch "Run Rabbit Run" on Netflix NOW, as well as the first two episodes of "The Veil" on Hulu! Defining oneself in that realm has an expiry date… I think a person's beauty and their own body is their own jurisdiction, they should be able to make decisions about that themselves”. Sarah Snook also said she thought fellow Australian actress Margot Robbie deserved an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Barbie in Greta Gerwig's 2023 film: “I was so proud of Margot when I saw the film, it was the first outing I had as a new mum and I was away from my daughter for three hours. I spent the entire Barbie film crying… and I don't think that was just because of the hormones. I think it was because of the greatness of the film, I loved it so much. So I am disappointed for her but really proud as a fellow Aussie”.Listen to Today on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds: 6-9am weekdays and 7-9am on Saturdays.

If not, keep it in mind for the future okay? Anyway - you will hugely enjoy this one, as Sarah is a delight and does not feature on a to of podcasts either, so it's a rare treat indeed! They own a giant conservative media conglomerate called Waystar Royco; the family's patriarch, Shiv's father Logan Roy, is aging and can't run the company forever. Who will he name to take over? And what will the players do to get what they want? Shiv's part in the drama earned Snook a bunch of critical praise and awards nominations.
