Controversial scenes last night at Rod Laver arena as Novak Djokovic retired after just the first set in his semifinal against Alexander Zverev, shocking the crowd. Meanwhile, in the other semifinal Jannik Sinner had little resistance as he cruised to a straight sets win over American Ben Shelton. Kiwi tennis journalist Dave Worsley was in the crowd, and joined Piney to discuss exactly what happened and what we can expect from the Men's and Women's final. Worsley told Piney that in the press conference after the match, Djokovic said that maybe he could've kept going, but he wouldn't have lasted that much longer. The Australian Open Finals are SET. Alexander Zverev will face defending champion and World No.1 Jannik Sinner for a chance to win his first Major. The big news from the semifinals was the retirement of Novak Djokovic after losing the first set against the tall german. He was suffering from the same muscle tear that affected him in his quarterfinal win over Carlos Alcaraz and knew going into the match it was unlikely he would be able to finish it. Despite his best efforts on court the Australian crowd booed off their 10 time champion and 24 time grand slam champion for cutting short their afternoon of tennis which reflected badly on the tournament and the aussie fans. Zverev will face 2 time major champion Jannik Sinner in the Final who defeated Ben Shelton after a spirited first set from the american. Sinner steamrolled the last two sets but was seen limping in the third set. Joel and Chris ask - will he be fit for the final and predict who the champion will be on Sunday. On the women's side there was a HUGE upset and come from behind win for American Madison Keys. Keys a former finalist at slam level previously 8 years ago at the US Open will hope to go one better on Saturday against World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka. Keys caused the biggest upset on the women's side when she saved match point and then recovered from 5-7 down in a super tie break to secure her spot in the final by defeated Iga Swiatek. Swiatek was so close to setting up a 1 vs 2 final but with the loss Sabalenka will remain the World Number 1 no matter the result on Saturday. Sabalenka will be going for the three-peat and the one thing we know for sure is that there will be some big hitting on Rod Laver in the final! Patrick Michael Rafter (born 28 December 1972) is an Australian former world No. 1 tennis player. He reached the top Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles ranking on 26 July 1999. His career highlights include consecutive US Open titles in 1997 and 1998, consecutive runner-up appearances at Wimbledon in 200 and 2001, winning the 1999 Australian Open men's doubles tournament alongside Jonas Bjorkman, and winning two singles and two doubles ATP Masters titles. He became the first man in the Open Era to win Canada Masters, Cincinnati Masters and the US Open in the same year, which he achieved in 1998; this achievement has been dubbed the American Summer Slam. To date, only two players have followed this feat: Andy Roddick in 2003, and Rafael Nadal in 2013. Rafter is the third man in the Open Era to reach semifinals or better of every Grand Slam tournament in both singles and doubles, after Rod Laver and Stefan Edberg, and remains the last man to date to accomplish this. Rafter is also the only player to remain undefeated against Roger Federer with at least three meetings, though the meetings took place early in Federer's career. He is also the only player with a winning record over the Swiss on all the three main surfaces: hard clay and grass.

This week's show focusses on the Laver Cup. Chris Bowers is joined by tennis commentator and former WTA player Sam Smith to look back over the event and discuss its place in the tennis calendar. They also introduce a number or interviews and features. Headlines are...TEAM WORLD CAPTAIN JOHN MCENROE 'This is something that I've believed in from the beginning and to me it was like a no-brainer and I worry that our sport doesn't understand what It has sometimes and I believe the name Rod Laver is a name we should always use to our advantage and Roger Federer and why this thing isn't at the top of the chain for all players to play, I don't know'.TEAM EUROPE CAPTAIN BJORN BORG - 'This is the most important week for me every year and to pick the right players for the competition is very important and the important thing it that we need different players, different styles, different personalities to get into the Laver Cup'.FELIX AUGER-ALIASSIME ON TENNIS IN CANADA - ‘My dad owns a tennis academy in Quebec City and the interest and number of kids just keeps on growing. I was last week in the National Tennis Centre in Montreal and the gym was full of kids and the courts were full of kids everywhere'.CASPER RUUD ON HOW LAVER CUP HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART - ‘You know when I played Laver up the first time I had just reached the top ten for the first time, so I was very excited about that and I've been able to stay there now for two years and it has just given me more belief that I belong at this stage, that I belong among the top players in the world and play tennis on the biggest stages and Laver Cup is definitely one of the biggest stages we play throughout the year'.GAEL MONFILS ON THE ENTERTAINMENT SIDE OF THE GAME - 'Some haters say that trick shots disrespect the opponent but first, it's not disrespect because to hit a trick shot you have to be super-focussed so you don't hurt yourself and when you try something different, it's harder than something simple, but the main thing I'd say to the haters is focus on yourself'.MIKE RUSSELL ON MANAGING A PLAYING SCHEDULE - ‘We all discuss what's better what we think is best for his body and tennis, but the difficult thing with scheduling is that as your ranking increases, you get more opportunities and so the off season, where you could have an eight week off season, you then have a whole bunch of exhibition tournaments and events that you can play in and which makes a good financial incentive, so it's hard to say no to those, so factoring those in and still have proper training weeks physically and focussing on your tennis is hard for everyone'.PLUS IN AN EXCLUSIVE FEATURE, ATP UNCOVERED LOOK AT THE RETURN OF TENNIS TO CHINA- Podcast presenter, Chris Bowers- Podcast guest, Sam Smith- Interviews by Chris Bowers, Candy Reid and Ursin Caderas- Feature by ATP Uncovered

In the summer of 1983, New Zealand tennis player Chris Lewis reached the Wimbledon men's singles final, despite being ranked 91 in the world. Habits 2 Goals: The Habit Factor® Podcast with Martin Grunburg | Goal Achievement, Productivity & Success – Simplified

"Zigging while others zag ensures extraordinary results. That's both the risk and the reward." Visit: https://everythingastory.com "EVERYTHING is a F*cking STORY" a recent #1 Amazon Hot New Release! EVERYTHING culminates nearly 20 years of deliberation, collaboration, and meditation, all in the pursuit of deconstructing human behavior for the purposes of goal attainment. EVERYTHING is a F*cking STORY debuts as a "prequel" and completes a "trilogy" MG never knew existed. Martin began writing The Habit Factor® shortly before 2005; it was published in 2010. Then, in 2015, The Pressure Paradox™ was published. In this episode, MG reviews how language guides us toward insights about topics and problems we want to learn more about and solve. When it comes to achieving extraordinary results, it's clear the requirement is to have behaviors and habits that are out of the ordinary. Thus, "extra-ordinary." Of course, these extraordinary results could be undesirable as well. Either way, exceptional and extraordinary results come from doing things out of the ordinary. Martin shares how he used the same language discovery process when writing The Habit Factor®. A critical insight was observed, the Latin root of HABIT is, "HABIT-US," essentially meaning "condition and/or character." Martin then shares a remarkable story recounted in The Pressure Paradox™ about concentration. One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Rod Laver, provided key insights on the topic. Rod explains to Martin that he "just happened to play his best when it mattered most." Martin asks Rod to clarify exactly how he managed to "play his best when it mattered most." Enjoy the show! On this week's show...JOHN NEWCOMBE ON NICK KYRGIOS - ‘I can't speak for a lot of the other guys, but the ones I do talk to reasonably regularly, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Tony Roche and all that, we all think his tennis is great, never criticise his tennis at all, but it's just sometimes when he hasn't behaved great on the court, we've felt that not only has he let himself down but the image of Australian tennis gets let down a little bit, but no one certainly has been critical of his tennis and his ability as a great young sportsman. He's doing it his way and maybe one or two guys have come out and been ultra-critical of him, but that's just how life is'.JOHN NEWCOMBE ON DOUBLES - ‘When you talk about doubles you're bringing up something that's a bit of a sore point with me because it's just a pity to see none of the top payers playing in doubles. I understand best of five sets the top players don't want to play, but as far as doubles goes, I'd like to see them having to play more doubles in the regular tournaments where it's two out of three sets'.JOHN NEWCOMBE ON LLEYTON HEWITT'S INDUCTION INTO THE INTERNATIONAL TENNIS HALLL OF FAME - ‘When he was 14 he came to my tennis ranch in Texas and the first week he came up to me and said he'd like to interview me for a school essay and he had 25 questions all written out, very professional and we did the interview and it was little over a year later that we picked him for the Davis Cup team. He came out of the blocks in the first match against Todd Martin who was number nine in the world and he blew him away. It was just a joy to sit on the side of the court, of course he had nerves, but the more nervous he got, the better he played'.FACUNDO LAGONES ON WORKING WITH CAMERON NORRIE - ‘One of Cam's biggest changes is admitting mistakes and realising them and having honest conversations about what happened in the matches or outside the court and being humble enough to recognise what he needed to work on and not just say it and then forget about it. He is really good at working on things that make him better and not making excuses is giving a big edge over most other players because it's pretty common to make excuses here on tour and not fix what's wrong'.PLUS MEKTIC AND PAVIC TAKE OUR GRASS COURT QUIZ-Podcast presented by Chris Bowers, Jill Craybas and Peter Marcato-Interviews by Chris Bowers and Candy Reid-Feature by ATP Uncovered and Kate Flory
