Daily Leadership Challenges and Tips We hope you enjoy these daily leadership tips and challenges. Our hope is that these tips and challenges will motivate you, make you think, provide you with actionable steps, bring your team together, make your team more productive and profitable, and generally keep you interested in continually learning about leadership, because leadership is a life-long learning process. This show is brought to you by The Current Leadership Coaching Team or CLC Team, and we offer a variety of ways for you to continually have leadership training and development. Our primary focus is on team leaders; specifically, leaders in the manufacturing industry who have multiple leaders they work with while leading their own teams both independently and in conjunction with other teams within the same organization (either at one large site or in separate locations). We work to unify all of the leaders of an organization so that you have one big SUPERIOR Team, or a team that is Self-Aware, Unified, Persevering, Empowered, Relationally Safe, Intentional, Optimized, and Resourceful. The CLC Team accomplishes this is a variety of ways and by using various learning methods: -       3 to 4-hour workshops (on-site or online) -       Online Leadership Community (weekly zoom calls that cover leadership topics) -       The Complete Leadership Development System -       Leadership Mastermind (online and annual event)  Our Current Online Community for Leaders is currently open! The monthly price is $47 a month and this includes one weekly “live” zoom call, full access to our leadership library of video courses, full access to all the replays of prior zoom calls, and a private community to connect with other leaders! "Right now, we are demanding authenticity and transparency and every business is in the business of building trust. And trust isn’t built by a logo or technology, it’s built by people. The question now is how do you get in front of other people so you can begin to develop that trust.   That’s where digital empathy comes in for me. We have to know who we are, and we have to commit ourselves to listening to and connecting with our audience.”    You have to ask yourself, “Does this technology enhance my life?" And that causes us to ask, “What would an improvement to my life actually look like”? It spurs us into complexity, to contemplate how our relationship with technology is influencing what we believe and who we are.    And in today’s world, we have more ways to amplify a message than ever before. That’s important to remember, as it eliminates a lot of excuses that have prevented us from being a more connected society, up till now. Yes, social media can create noise, but it can also foster inertia and momentum towards a more deeply connected and harmonized society.

Coming back from Social Media Marketing World, I have good news! Although the landscape continues to change – seemingly daily – there is a lot to be optimistic about particularly for small handmade businesses. To be able to take advantage of the opportunities, however, you need to know about them in the first place. That’s what this show is all about. To back up a bit, Social Media Marketing World (#SMMW19) is the premier social media conference of it’s kind, held annually in San Diego. Featuring 120 speakers and over 6,000 attendees, we discuss everything from details on the various platforms to strategy and implementation. We also find out what the latest research shows and recommended changes to our marketing plans. This year certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of social media marketing changes! I return home energized and invigorated by the opportunities available to small businesses. Product businesses in particular have been hearing a lot of gloom and doom over recent years. Brick and mortar is dead. We can’t compete with Amazon’s prices and delivery. And on and on. The time is now to turn our backs on this defeatist thinking and prove these statements wrong. I believe what I’ve heard at SMMW19 is the key to our small handmade businesses survival and dare I say potential for huge growth. Business Building InsightsHere are the 5 Overall Takeaways from Social Media Marketing World 2019. Listen to the show for the details and how to implement each one in a handmade product business. There are many great tips and ideas for businesses within the green industry to market their service. While some tactics may show some results and bring in leads, our customers are our marketers. Our products, services and our brands aren't what we them it is. It's what they are telling each other it is. On this episode, we take a slight departure from topics discussing plants, trees and landscape, to take a look at how we as an industry, approach marketing to our customers. It's an opportunity for us recognize, we here to help them live the kind of lives they want. I recently attended Social Media Marketing World 19 (#SMMW19) conference where the closing keynote was Mark Schaefer, speaker and author of Marketing Rebellion - The Most Human Company Wins. He defined how we as consumers rebelled against ads that lie to us, kept secrets from the public and now, thy have taken control of our marketing. Word of mouth isn't a thing of the past. 2/3rds of our marketing is happening without us and we can't control what their saying. It's a profound shift in the way we approach our marketing. We must be more human and we can't buy our way in. We must be invited by making making connections and being human. My goal is to highlight some of the things we do now as a marketer in the green industry, and how we can be more human and invited into our customer's conversations. The great copywriter Ray Edwards said at SMMW19 this past March, “There is no copy that is too long - there is only copy that is too boring.” I agree 1000%. People often ask me How long should my book be? How long should my blog article be? How long should the email be? How long should my bio be? As long as it takes to deliver value to the intended reader or audience but, the shorter you can do that, the better. "I would have written you a shorter letter if I had more time." It’s been attributed to: Mark Twain, George Bernard Shaw, Voltaire, Blaise Pascal, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Winston Churchill, and so much more.  But, it does lend evidence to the fact that writing both well and briefly is harder. Great writing and editing is the cutting away of the unnecessary. The more you do it, the better you’ll get at writing succinctly and well. It really is a practice makes perfect sort of thing. So, if you don’t feel like a strong writer right now, all hope is NOT lost. It’s not a gift one is born with. It is a skill that can be honed. ---   “How Long Should My Copy, Blog, Book, or Writing Be?” …   Keep these three things in mind... Shorter the better Ensure it delivers value to the intended audience Don’t let it be boring   With these three simple things in mind, you can’t go wrong! Bea Pole-Bokor Show Notes Bea Pole-Bokor is the Owner & Founder of B!Social A professional diplomat by training, Bea has been successfully branding and promoting a country at top levels in the international scene before going digital and establishing B!Social. She’s worked at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, as well as with marketing giant L’Oréal prior to moving to New Zealand. With over 10 years of experience in communication, content creation, and events, she is now on a mission to share her passion for all things social. Bea is an official LinkedIn Local host, a member of the Organizing Committee, and a speaker at the Social Media Conference New Zealand 2019. Most Passionate About Today I consider myself as a very social person. This was the reason I started my business, B!Social, which is all about social media and beyond. I help businesses leverage the power of social media to grow. I love it because it’s all about people. I used to be a diplomat before and that’s all about social networking, so I’m passionate about people, relationships, getting together and sharing our knowledge, inspiring each other, and growing together. Social Media: Lonely vs. Social I’m struggling with this question because I think everything has two sides, the pros and the cons. I see social media as an opportunity for businesses to leverage, to reach people, to talk to and with the people who matter to them the most. I feel this is a wonderful platform to create community and help people get together, but I’m also very much aware of the dark side of social, so to say. In this world of digitalization, when we are always behind our screens and phones, I feel there is a massive disconnect, a process that’s happening with all of us; we’re getting over digitalized and less connected because everyone is using their devices and on the internet and it’s terrifying to see sometimes people chatting next to each other on their phones without really talking to each other. So, as much as social media is a wonderful platform to connect people, and to get social, it also has the cons, which include really isolating people. So, it’s really about finding the balance and knowing how to use these platforms in a mature and responsible way, as a business and user. Why did you make the switch to social media? I think I tapped into something really deep in myself, what I really love, what I’m really good at, and what I would like to do. I saw an opportunity and said, I love social media, I’m always hanging out on social media, I keep in touch with my family and friends, I’m observing the trends and I said, there’s a need for this. There’s a need for people to understand how it really works and amazing opportunities for businesses, so I created my own business, and that’s the story of B!Social. Who are you working with today? Who are your customers? I started focusing on the local environment first because that’s where I wanted to connect with the people and that’s where I saw there’s a need for this kind of service, so I started locally and over time as the business grew, I’ve been expanding past the local region going more into the national and international scene. Social media is typically a thing that you can do all around the world because it’s digital, you can Skype, you can Zoom, you can Facetime, you can messenger call whatever you want, you can connect on different platforms, but I really enjoy working with local communities and real people, that’s what I love: working with people, in person, in real life. How did you hear about SMMW? I think I found out about SMMW on Facebook. I’m an avid believer of lifelong learning; I think there’s always something new to learn. I wanted to be in the place in the world where you can learn about this industry. I wanted to come and soak up the knowledge, be surrounded by experts who are living and breathing social media. They know what this space is...

DO NOT SHOW UP AS A HOT MESS!  Welcome to the beginning of conference season!  You may be attending a conference to learn something new, obtain professional credits, make connections, or just get out of the office.  Whatever the reason there are a bevy of opportunities waiting for you when you attend.  To make the most of your time at the conference, this week I have outlined my conference plan.  In March I will be attending Social Media Marketing World and I have been having a blast getting myself ready. I was honored when selected for the volunteer staff at Social Media Marketing World. It is the gold standard of social media conference and, from what I have seen, conferences in general.  The staff really has thought of every possible way to ensure a participants success at whatever level they are attending.  I have been encouraged to engage through multiple Facebook groups and an app.  I have connected with amazing individuals and...drum roll...I have already been asked to guest blog post which is a major goal of mine for the conference. Before I share my plan, keep in mind that this is extensive.  I dedicate time every single day to getting ready - connecting, reading, asking questions, answering questions and preparing my content.  Your plan and conference participation depend largely on what you want to get out of it but you do not need to do everything on my list (although I would definitely recommend you pay close attention when I talk about packing business cards - those are important). So, our three Big Topics today: Topic 1:  Before the Conference Topic 2:  During the Conference Topic 3:  After the Conference Topic 1:  Before the conference Set Goals - I first learned about setting goals for a conference in one of the Facebook Groups for SMMW.  I thought it sounded crazy at first, but it makes sense!  When you have a goal you can then focus your energy to ensure you use your time wisely. You might want to find staff or Connect with others for a whole bunch of reasons - clients, outsourcing… Get guest speaking gigs - SEO, visibility, know, like and trust Get clients Learn something Meet conference staff and find out how you can help out the organization. Now you have direction for your efforts! Spruce up your online presence.  Make sure to develop your Know, Like and Trust Factors When you want to connect with others they are going to check you out. LinkedIn - you want to make sure that your LinkedIn profile is filled out and well written. Twitter - fill out your bio and put in great pictures. Post content to LinkedIn and Twitter each day. Get your website in shape clearly explaining what you do. Put a few videos on Youtube explaining what you do. Commit to being authentic. You digital footprint should clearly articulate how you help solve problems. PreGame the Conference What’s the hashtag?  Every conference has a hashtag.  Social Media Marketing World is using #SMMW19 this year.  For most conferences, staff monitor the hashtag and will probably engage with your tweets.  In fact, find out who will be monitoring the hashtag during the conference and let them know you will be onsite to help out.  Get on the radar screen! Not sure what to do with the hashtag?  Look up the hashtag from last year's conference.  See which tweets had engagement and who sent them.  Start to develop a plan from these examples. Connect with speakers, conference staff and other attendees on LinkedIn and Twitter Look for opportunities to meet your target contacts. Ask them where they are going to be - networking tables? Schedule lunch. Is there a Facebook group?  This is one of the things that Social Media Marketing World does best.  There are multiple Facebook groups for attendees and volunteers.Contribute to each group by asking and answering questions.

I’ve had the amazing opportunity to give keynotes, webinars and workshops for multiple luxury travel events and organizations this year and I felt like their use of social media and the questions they had for me would add massive value to anyone in a service or product business that wants to build trust and connect with future customers aka the younger generations. On this episode we covered some of these questions: My business is booming why should I invest time and money with social media today? What content beyond just marketing my business should I be posting on social media? Everyone in the luxury travel space posts the same type of content what can I do to stand out from the noise? My business is word of mouth and build on customer recommendations so do I really need social media? What do you mean by creating “Social Media Education” not just social media marketing? Where does influencer marketing fit in luxury travel and service-based business? I love working with the travel and hospitality space and if you are in that space or would like to hire me to speak or provide a workshop please contact me and visit: www.isocialfanz.com/Speaker Products mentioned on this episode: iOgrapher case: Snapchat Spectacle Video Sunglasses Sponsor Iographer: We are living in a mobile now world but to truly leverage the power of your mobile device you must go beyond its basic features leveraging external audio and lenses while looking professional and there is no better device to use than the iographer case.
