Limitations Inspire Creativity, and funny enough in Web 3.0, most of these limitations have more to do with technology than anything else. Still, we feel limited because we aren't willing to open our minds to what's possible. We are also living in a time where early adoption innovation is more about copying what worked previously instead of learning from what worked and adapting it to current times, but that's an entirely different podcast. A couple of months back, I put out the idea of creating 2 of 2 collections for celebrity or influencer custom NFT drops to add more value to these NFTs being added to the collection and the time spent to create the art. I've been very blessed to receive about a dozen of these custom NFTs over the last 18 months, and I've felt since the start that it would be cool if there were the one I could auction off or giveaway. Today, Brian welcomes the co-founder of Lazy Lions NFT, Ashur. It's the 1-year anniversary of the Lazy Lions NFT project, one of the most recognizable, energetic, and dynamic projects in the Web3 space. Ashur looks back at the origins of the LL project and how the team grew and evolved over the past year. If you didn't realize it yet.... Web 3.0 forces us to get comfortable being naked online... Today on the podcast, Brian talks about being transparent in Web3.0. Online transparency forces us to come to terms with things we may have never faced before. It can be overwhelming for you or your audience, but do it in baby steps. It takes much less effort to be open and be yourself than to pretend to be someone else. Transparency is even inherent in Web3.0, as the blockchain doesn't lie! That in itself can be an intimidating feeling, and it can contribute to burnout in founders, influencers, and whales who are under close scrutiny in Web3.0. But Brian truly feels that the more transparent you can be online, the more freedom you have to be yourself. And the more you lean into it and the more vulnerable you feel, the more freedom will come from the process of self-acceptance. And you realize that our vulnerabilities actually connect us with others much more than our strengths. The conversations around the "attention economy" aren't new, and in many cases, people love to attack social media, websites, and our mobile devices to make the attention economy impact skew negative, and marketers have been willing to use every tool at their disposal to leverage and capture that attention in any way they see fit. But in the NFT space, the attention economy is much more connected to the human condition and less to blame in marketers rather because NFTs can be thought of by many as securities in a startup, the value is often connected to speculation of future value and for many, in the cryptoBro times of nfts and crypto, they could skew that speculative value by driving everyone's attention to the FOMO within projects. And let's face it the days of the "cryptobros" needs to come to an end but after seeing the negative energy explode over the last weekend as Moonbirds founder Kevin Rose tweeted out about the shift to cc0 for Moonbird NFT holders. It struck me that we have a long way to go before this manufactured attention and negative energy doesn't drastically impact the value of an NFT project. If an NFT project isn't providing royalties to its holders yet is massively overdelivering in value to the point non of the holders want to sell the project will fail for both the NFT project creator and the NFT owners! If an NFT project has 99% unique wallets holding NFTs, it will create less revenue for the project team to operate than a project that holds at at 50-70% unique wallets threshold aka more wallets holding more than 1, leading to higher sales volume. Now, this isn't the case for all business models with NFTs such as NFT access, collectibles, IRL experiences, and brand rewards. Although, for many NFT projects the idea of relying on secondary creator percentages to continue to fund the project has become the norm but predicting that and/or preparing for a bear market can be near impossible. On the flip side for a loyal NFT holder of a blue chip project worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, that value can only be valued when you sell that beloved NFT and now lose access to the utility and value that excited you to join. I pride myself on being a "translator of geek-speak" but even more so working really hard to be the best communicator I can, possibly when on stage, behind the podcast microphone, or even at the dinner team with friends.
