‘Unimpressed' GSA gives consulting firms new deadline in quest to terminate contracts; New DOGE CIO looks to reduce Labor IT office by 30%

The Daily Scoop Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 18, 2025 4:16

The General Services Administration is not happy with the top-10 consulting firms it asked back in February to self-identify contracts that could be terminated to save the federal government money, going as far as to call their efforts under the initiative “insulting.” Josh Gruenbaum, commissioner of GSA's Federal Acquisition Service, wrote in a letter to those 10 firms, viewed by FedScoop, that GSA and its contracting partners are “unanimously unimpressed” with the cost savings those contractors identified in the so-called “scorecards” they submitted after the agency called for the termination of government contracts with those top consultants. As a result, the agency is calling on those firms to submit a second “waste review” by 5 p.m. ET on Friday with their proposals demonstrating how they can “lean into developing taxpayer friendly pricing” with “dramatic price reductions.” “In good faith, and with high expectation, we offered firms the opportunity to join us in reducing wasteful spending and do their part in addressing the twin issues of the federal debt and deficit,” Gruenbaum wrote. “The efforts to propose meaningful cost savings were wholly insufficient, to the point of being insulting.” The Labor Department's new chief information officer is looking to reduce staff in the Office of the CIO by about 30%, according to a source within the agency. Hundreds of people currently work in Labor's CIO office, but leadership is hoping many workers will voluntarily leave the team. Thomas Shedd, who was appointed to Labor's CIO role last month, is optimistic that the goal will be achieved through the federal government's deferred resignation programs and reduction-in-force efforts, the source said. Going forward, Labor's Office of the CIO plans to focus on systems used to disburse benefits, as well as programs required by law that need business systems and software to work, according to documents viewed by FedScoop. There will also be an emphasis on efficiency and consolidating systems while providing value, the documents said. The department told employees that they're not “tracking” staff, despite media reports, and that the agency is only interested in measuring results. Holsworthy mark Podcast Show..Number 1 in Devon England

While drowning his sorrows at the bar of a dive in downtown Los Angeles, Angel notices three guys leave the bar with two women. Angel follows them to a dark alley, where he kills the three men, who are revealed to be vampires. One of the frightened girls, Janice, bleeding from a minor head wound, tries to thank him, but Angel, fixated on the blood, warns them harshly to get away from him and strides down the dark alley. Angel makes his way to his new home, a basement apartment beneath a ground floor office, where he finds Doyle waiting for him. Doyle introduces himself, explaining he is half human, half demon, then recaps the story of Angel's life, ending with his recent breakup with the Slayer and his move to L.A. Doyle explains that Angel's isolation, combined with the fact that he recently drank human blood, puts him at serious risk of relapse. Doyle gets visions from The Powers That Be (accompanied by debilitating headaches) regarding people whose lives Angel must touch; true redemption lies not just in saving lives but in saving souls as well. Doyle concludes by handing over a scrap of paper on which he has jotted information about a young woman named Tina. When Angel asks why Tina needs him, Doyle replies that getting involved in her life enough to figure that out is Angel's first order of business. Angel finds Tina during her shift and persuades her to meet him after work. Waiting by his car, Angel is surprised to see her in elegant evening dress and even more surprised when she pulls pepper spray from her purse. Tina accuses Angel of being employed by someone named Russell Winters, but he convinces her to accept his offer of a lift to the "fabulous Hollywood party" she plans to attend. When they arrive, Angel runs into Cordelia Chase, whom he last saw at her graduation ceremony at Sunnydale High months earlier. After Cordelia brags about how successful she is, she leaves to talk to "people that are somebody.” Angel sees a man harassing Tina and asks about him. She tells him that he is Stacy, a creep, and she would like to leave. On their way into the parking garage, Angel fights off Stacy and his goons. Meanwhile, in her dingy apartment, Cordelia hangs up her one dress and nibbles snacks she stole from the party because she could not afford food while listening to her talent agent's discouraging phone message. After Tina falls asleep, Angel spends the night on the public library's computers, searching for information about Tina's friend Denise, who disappeared after becoming involved with Russell. The next morning, Angel tells Tina he believes her friend Denise was murdered. As she listens, Tina spots Doyle's note listing her name and workplace, and, convinced afresh that Angel has been running some scam for Russell, panics and runs. Angel tries to grab her at the building's entrance, but sunlight burns his hand, causing him to turn vampirish reflexively. In stark terror, Tina flees. Russell Winters, a multi-millionaire businessman, finds Tina when she returns to her apartment to pack. She allows herself to be drawn into his arms; however Russell is a vampire and bites her. Angel races to the rescue, only to find Tina dead, marks of vampire predation on her throat. Later that day at his heavily guarded mansion, Russell meets with a young lawyer from the evil law firm of Wolfram & Hart to discuss his airtight (fictitious) alibi in the matter of Tina's demise. Russell orders the lawyer to bring him Cordelia, whom he has selected as his next victim. Angel tracks down Stacy and interrogates him until he reveals Russell's location, then persuades Doyle to help him avenge Tina's death. Excited by her limo ride to meet the Russell Winters, Cordelia is impressed by his ornate mansion. After a servant ushers her into Russell's den, Cordelia spills the story of her life to her host - until she notices the unusually heavy drapes and lack of mirrors and concludes aloud that Winters is a vampire. Winters vamps and reaches for Cordelia, who flees. Angel arrives and rescues her. The next day, Angel stalks into a conference room at the Russell Winters Enterprises building, where Russell is conducting a meeting with his business associates and the Wolfram & Hart lawyer. Unimpressed by Russell's claim that he can do whatever he wants and get away with it, Angel asks the CEO if he can fly, then kicks his chair through the windows. Exposed to sunlight, Russell bursts into flame and disintegrates to dust. As Angel departs, the lawyer uses his cell phone to report to his firm that, although the "Senior Partners" need not be disturbed by the news of the death of their client just yet, there seems to be a "new player in town". Back at home, Angel despondently calls Buffy, but when he hears her voice, hangs up without speaking. Later, Cordelia proposes that they go into the business of saving souls as a team—at least until her acting career materializes. As Doyle observes that many people in L.A. need help, Angel stands atop a skyscraper, looking out over the L.A. nightscape.

Child Predator Brings Pizza to Teen's House, meets To Catch A Predator Chris Hansen insteadTo Catch A Predator Jeffrey Sokol FULL Police Interrogation44-year-old Jeff Sokol groomed what he thought was a thirteen-year-old girl named Bailey online. He had many creepy and sexual conversations with her, including asking her if she trims her pubic hair, telling her that he will want to be intimate with her when they meet, and talks of drawing up a “marriage contract“ in order for it to be legal to have sex with her. On October 3rd, 2015, he drove for two-and-a-half hours from his home in Boston to Fairfield, where he had planned to stay with the girl while her mother was away on business.[1][2][3]BustHe picked up a pizza, and once at the house, he tried to hug Nellie, but was rejected. The two chat for a while, discussing the pizza, their looks, and the marriage contract briefly. Jeff also takes a pill which he claimed was for his stomach before he ate. A door can be heard creaking in the hidden room, which startles Sokol. When Nellie leaves to investigate, Chris Hansen enters. At first Sokol believed Hansen was the girl's father. During the interview he is arrogant, cold, dismissive and egotistical. He casually (and loudly) eats the pizza during his interview with Hansen, even laughing off many of Hansen's questions. He went on to offer Chris a slice of pizza during the interview, which Hansen politely declined. During the course of the interview, Chris questioned him about a marriage contract which he believed would absolve him of legal issues. During his police interrogation, he admits to no wrongdoing and blames society on why he was arrested. The detective interviewing Sokol combats nearly every point the latter tried to use to defend himself.Sokol ultimately was sentenced to seven years and had to serve 30 months. He also had to register as a sex offender for ten years and be on probation for the remainder of his sentence.Jeff Sokol was very unpopular with lawyers, as he went through three different attorneys. Sokol was sentenced to 30 months, pleading guilty to his crimes of attempted 2nd degree sexual assault, attempted risk of injury to a minor, and enticing a minor by computer.Sokol's lawyer pointed out that the pill Sokol took while in the sting house was not a sexual enhancement pill, but a Cholestyramine pill, used for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). According to the lawyer, Sokol had suffered from IBS since high school, and that this made him put on a "mask". Sokolʻs lawyer stressed that Sokol is indeed a "nice guy" who has a job and is nice to his parents (who accompanied Sokol during court hearings). Sokol's lawyer also stated that the content from HvP, broadcast on National TV, YouTube etc., was not really how Sokol normally "behaves", and that Sokol was humiliated, not only from what was uploaded, but also from comments made about him.Sokol had undergone a psychiatric exam in which electrical sensors were somehow attached to his genitals, and he was then shown pictures of children. Sokol's lawyer stated he "passed with flying colors." It was also said Sokol has learning disabilities, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and minor psychiatric issues, but does not have any major psychiatric issues, e.g. schizophrenia. It is also noted he was a drinker and smokes pot.Sokol's lawyer had weak arguments for the judge, at one time saying, "...but a hundred years ago, your honor, the age of consent in the United States was nine...then it was raised to twelve and then to thirteen and then eventually to what it is today." He also said, "So what he is being sent to jail for today, was something that a hundred years ago was not a crime."Unimpressed, the judge remained still-faced.When it was Sokol's turn to speak to the judge, he tried to convince the judge that he was a nice person. He then blamed the decoy for being flirty and inviting. He became upset when the judge, while reading Sokol's sentencing, stated he was convinced that Sokol's plan was to get "Bailey" drunk and have sex with her. Apparently exasperated, Sokol reacted by turning his head away and rolling his eyes. It was not mentioned in HvP, but Sokol didn't just bring pizza, but also vodka

In this episode of the Plant Based Eating for Health show, I have the distinct honor of talking with Dr. Eduardo Corassa, a dedicated health advocate and passionate proponent of veganism, raw foods, and holistic health. His personal journey, filled with transformation and growth, is a testament to the profound impact of dietary and lifestyle choices on overall wellbeing. Dr. Corassa's story begins during his teenage years. As a globally renowned Counterstrike player, his jet-setting lifestyle and unhealthy habits led to a significant decline in his health. Unimpressed by the conventional medical solutions offered, he sought alternatives, eventually discovering the transformative potential of veganism and raw food diets. Initially skeptical, Dr. Corassa found the switch to a raw food diet positively impacted his health almost instantly. He shares his experience with a medically supervised 24-day water fast, a pivotal moment that solidified his commitment to promoting the benefits of his newfound lifestyle. Over the past 16.5 years, Dr. Corassa has dedicated himself to a diet primarily composed of fruits and vegetables. http://www.VeganVisibility.com/120-eduardo-corassa #VeganLifestyle, #PlantBasedDiet, #HealthTransformation, #SustainableLiving, #HolisticHealth, #RawFoodDiet, #EnvironmentalSustainability, #VeganVisibility, #EduardoCorassa, #HealthyLivingTips
