Today we welcome special guest Tara Bosler to the show! Tara is an amazing creative copywriter. She has the power to craft messages that connect with people at the emotional level. And when it comes to marketing, that is one of the most important things you can do. In this episode, Tara shares the top 2 common mistakes she sees other female entrepreneurs make in their copy and messaging: Skipping foundational copy Not being authentic Foundational copy is all the essential pieces of your branding. Things like who you are, who you help, what you offer, your mission, your purpose, your vision. The process of establishing your foundational copy isn’t fun and sexy, it’s a little bit of work, but it’s so important and it makes everything else flow easily. “It really helps to build that foundation. Then the content just starts coming to you.” – Tara Bosler Authenticity is huge, especially in online business.  The reason that someone is going to choose you is that they’re attracted to you, your energy, and your values. “Nobody wants generic. They want specific, authentic, I’m getting the real deal here.” – Tara Bosler Once you have your foundational copy, Tara also recommends starting with your call to action. If you don’t know what you want people to do and how you want them to engage then they’re not going to. With whatever you’re writing, consider: What is your motivation for writing this? What is your purpose for writing this? “When you have a call to action, and you have a clear navigation for where you want someone to go, then it becomes much easier to start.” – Tara Bosler Another big tip Tara shares is to give things time. Even if a certain call to action doesn’t work at first, you’ve got to keep with it for a little bit to see results. The closer you can get with your language to how your clients are talking to themselves, the better. You have to be really in tune with your audience. That comes from having personal conversations with them. You can get on a call with people or copy and paste what your audience is saying. Sometimes you need to listen to people to hear what they need by what they’re not saying. Hearing what is at the root of something, and naming those emotions, is what really gets to the impactful, emotional copy. If you can write that and have your audience say, “I was just thinking that!” then you’ve done it. People also have short attention spans and Tara says you need to recapture their attention every 8 seconds by creating a moment to trigger emotion for them. Examples of these moments can be Headlines Calls to action Testimonials Funny hashtags You need to create the emotional connection to increase your likability, which increases your opportunity to be persuasive and convert. Tara says copy doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You really just need to know your next 2 steps, do those, and then figure out your next 2 steps. Knowing your next step in your business will help you figure out what piece of copy you need next. Don’t get caught up in trying to do too much, keep it simple. Copy and content are a huge part of connecting with and selling to our target market. What are the foundational pieces of content we have to develop before we do anything else? What are some of the key steps often missed in writing content and copy? How do we address these gaps by understanding our audiences, both mentally and emotionally? On this episode, Tara Bosler shares on how we can write content that relates, helps, and converts.   I’m a huge proponent of clarity over cleverness. -Tara Bosler   3 Things We Learned From This Episode   Stay tapped into the pains your audience has (15:12 - 16:00) It’s important to stay plugged into the issues your target market is facing. Even if you started off as your target market, becoming successful takes us further away from that emotional base. This can make it hard for us to write in a way someone facing that problem can relate to. You have to constantly go back to that emotional base to know where they are and what are they experiencing right now. The closer your language is to the language they’re using in their head, the more successful your copywriting will be. How to create authenticity in our copy (17:21 - 21:07) Authenticity is about consistency and relatability. It’s all about being clear with yourself, first and foremost. We have to know who we are and show up unapologetically.  You can’t tap into what the audience is thinking and feeling if you’re not tapped into what you’re thinking and feeling. If you don’t tap in, you’ll always comes off as surface level, and you won’t have a brand that people will fall in love with. Why our content won’t succeed if it doesn’t address limiting beliefs (26:46 - 28:17) Some of the key steps between someone becoming interested in what we’re talking about, and actually investing in what we sell are the limiting beliefs that stop them from taking further action. We have to understand not only what they want at the end result phase, but also what they believe is possible. If they don’t think something is possible, they won’t invest in it.   When it comes to writing copy for our businesses, we tend to get excited about the flashier pieces of content like sales pages and social media copy. However, the very first thing we need to do is be clear about who we are, our message, mission, vision and manifesto. That foundational copy allows us to drill down to the things our target audience thinks and feels, and how we can answer those questions. It all starts with us being authentic. It’s not about creating a brand and trying to become that brand. It’s about being “you”, and then building your brand around that.   Guest Bio- Tara is a copywriter and content creator for creative women entrepreneurs. It's important to make money goals a priority in business for four different reasons - find out why in this episode with guest host Tara Bosler. Tara and her daughter have been working hard to create and meet money goals in their lives and Tara has a great testimony to share with you. IN THIS EPISODE 1:12 Money goals are super important. We pick a number, but often we don't really know why we pick that number. 1:33 There are four things that money goals do: They give you a reason why you want to earn money. When you give your money purpose, it gives your subconscious a reason why you're doing something. 3:44 It helps you to connect to your why. When you're emotionally connected to it, it makes a difference in your feelings towards money. 4:26 Money goals are a great way to come together as a family and a team. Whether it's manifesting together, imagine it's boosting your power together. 5:16 It allows you to connect emotion to that goal when you hit a goal. You have to make sure you strive to hit that goal. Creating a money goal also allows you to celebrate your wins as you reach each goal. 7:48 Tara's process started because she needed a way to explain to her daughter about making money and needing to work. Instead of making it taking time away from her daughter, she made it something that was good for her daughter. They made a chart and set money goals. They decide together what it is that they're going to do together once they hit that money goal. 10:49 Most of our money stories are imprinted before the age of 7. It's amazing to see how together you're learning those things. 12:14 If you don't set money increments that are achievable, you'll experience boredom. Celebrating that abundance allows you to splurge. If you don't stop and celebrate, you'll stop looking for more which puts you in a scarcity mindset. 14:26 If you're getting ready to make goals, start small. Tara celebrated the number of clients at the beginning of making money goals. Find something that you can attach a value to and make a chart of things that you want to celebrate. You'll want to start attaching those things to cash and once you feel that, you can move forward and attach money goals to that. 16:42 Too often people say you don't make any money in the first year of your business, but there is still money coming in and once you have money coming in you need to start working on those money blocks and making monetary goals. You don't have to struggle for the first year of business. Bringing your family into that will give you encouragement and support. They're rooting for you. 19:03 Make it fun. When it's a have to thing, it's not fun. When it's a want to thing, then it becomes fun and changes the energy around the money and the business. [bctt tweet="Money goals are important - find out the four ways they enhance your life now!" username="tonyarineer"] KEY TAKEAWAYS Money goals are super important.
