This is part 1 of Burning Man 2025! Every year, Canary Cry Radio has been privileged and honored to send Basil Rosewater into Black Rock Desert to document what's going on at Burning Man, and to go preach the Good News to a group of people who are largely lost and seeking truth. The audio captured from this year was particularly fascinating and relevant.In this episode, we encounter Alex, a man who was tripping on acid who just so happened to find himself in the Camp of the Unknown God. His self prompted rants showed how people are desperate for some kind of transformative hope.We also hear from another stranger who sparked good conversation at the Camp of the Unknown God lead by Carl Teichrib. And we also document “Ranger Pedro” who ran a bible study on the Supernatural, tying it in with the Genesis 6 paradigm.The finale is part of this bible study on the supernatural, with Basil himself going on a solid compelling rant of his own.We hope you enjoy this episode!If you do, consider supporting us at https://CanaryCry.SupportWe will never advertise to you!Also visit https://BurningManResearch.com for the Canary Cry Archive on Burning Man research.

As born again Christians, we have the greatest thing in the world, the honor and the privilege of declaring to a lost and dying world the true identity of ‘the unknown God' who created everyone and everything. It's the only work that pays eternal dividends. “For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” Acts 17:23 (KJB)
On the next LEADING THE WAY, Dr. Youssef journeys to Athens with Paul. You'll see how his experience mirrors the challenges we also see in 2025! (Acts 17) Support the show: https://au.ltw.org/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Who Is the Unknown God?, Dr. Michael Youssef confronts the idolatry of modern culture with the boldness of the Apostle Paul in Acts 17. Preaching in a city filled with gods, Paul exposes the emptiness of false worship and proclaims the risen Christ as the only Savior and Judge. Dr. Youssef warns that idols are not just carved statues—they are anything that takes the place of the one true God. From false religion to pleasure, pride, and power, every idol will be judged. God is calling all people to repent, for a day of judgment is coming. This message calls believers to intercede, to proclaim Truth with urgency, and to live unashamed of the Gospel in a world darkened by deception.

Paul was deeply troubled by the idolatry that existed in Athens. He faced off with his secular audience by immediately directing their attention to the altar of the Unknown God. Proclaiming that He is the Creator of the Universe and does not live in temples built by human hands. He challenged and summoned them to respond to the crucified, risen Lord. This is a great model for us to follow in sharing Jesus with others. Dave Bartlett

Today's message is from Acts 20, one of the most powerful chapters in the book of Acts. In this passage, the Apostle Paul gives his emotional farewell to the Ephesian elders, reminding us to:Serve the Lord with humility and tearsPreach the whole counsel of GodGuard the flock against false teachingFinish the race with joy no matter the costMain scripture: Acts 20:17–38; Acts 19; Luke 3:16;
In Acts 19, we see what happens when the gospel of Jesus Christ collides with the idols of culture. Revival breaks out, lives are transformed, and an entire city feels the impact. But with transformation often comes opposition. Join us as we explore the power of the name of Jesus, the reality of spiritual authority, and the call to turn from idols to the living God.Main scripture: Acts 19
What does it really mean to flourish, and how do curious skeptics become devoted followers of Jesus? In this message from Acts 17:16–34, Pastor Benjer explores Paul's famous address in Athens at the Areopagus and shows how God awakens spiritual curiosity, why some mock before they believe, and how everyday Christians can step into gospel conversations with confidence and love. If you've ever wondered how to talk about Jesus in a culture crowded with competing definitions of “the good life,” this teaching is for you. Paul arrives in Athens “provoked” by a city full of idols, yet he responds not with outrage but with compassion and reason. He finds common ground, exposes the emptiness of man-made gods, and proclaims the Creator who “gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” He names the altar “To the Unknown God,” declares the risen Christ as Lord and Judge, and invites repentance. The result is mixed, just like today: some mock, some want to hear more, and some believe. Acts 17:16–34 becomes a masterclass in evangelism, apologetics, and pastoral heart, all centered on the resurrection of Jesus. This message also frames a bigger journey many of us are on. We borrow our vision of flourishing from social media, success metrics, and other people's expectations, then wonder why we are anxious, exhausted, and empty. Scripture paints a different picture. Jeremiah 17 describes the flourishing person as a tree planted by streams of water, unafraid of heat and drought, still bearing fruit. Jesus clarifies the source in John 15: abide in Him, the true vine, and you will bear much fruit; apart from Him you can do nothing. Real flourishing is not self-optimization. It is a Spirit-powered, Jesus-rooted life that blesses others. You will hear a practical pathway for growth that moves from curious to connected to committed to compelled to consecrated. Curiosity is often awakened by God long before a person ever sits in a church. That is why ordinary believers matter so much. You are already placed in neighborhoods, classrooms, teams, and workplaces where spiritual conversations can naturally begin. You won't know who is curious about Jesus until you talk about Jesus. Our lives should commend the gospel, but the gospel itself must be spoken. Faith comes by hearing the word of Christ. If you are exploring Christianity, this message invites you to ask honest questions and follow the evidence. The God who made you is “not far from each one of us.” If you are a follower of Jesus, you will be challenged to pray by name for one person in your everyday life and to look for the openings God provides. Evangelism is not a performance; it is participation with a God who is already pursuing people in love. Key themes include Acts 17:16–34, Paul in Athens, the Areopagus, the “unknown god,” idols and worldview, resurrection apologetics, repentance and faith, discipleship, abiding in Christ, Jeremiah 17, John 15, spiritual curiosity, gospel conversations, and a biblical vision of flourishing. Whether you are new to church or a long-time Christian, this sermon will help you discern the voices shaping your life, root your joy and purpose in Jesus, and step into your calling as an everyday ambassador of Christ. If this message helps you, consider sharing it with a friend who is curious about Jesus. This is part 22 of "The After Party," our series at Fusion Christian Church on the book of Acts. Follow along as we explore what happened to the church after Jesus ascended to heaven. In our series finale, pastor and missionary to Peru, Nick Balcombe, teaches about the evangelist attitude all Christians should have.Mars Hill and the Unknown God.In Acts 17, Paul visits Mars Hill in Athens where he spots an altar to an "unknown god." Observing the Athenian desire to honor a god they don't know, Paul uses that very altar as a starting point for sharing about the one true God. By paying attention to the culture he was entering into, Paul was able to connect with the people he desired to reach and share the gospel in a more accessible way. By learning about the culture he was evangelizing, Paul demonstrated a deep love and care for the Athenians.Look, Listen, Love.Paul made himself aware of what was important to the Athenians and thereby showed his love for them. Christians should follow Paul's example in our own efforts to evangelize others. No matter who we are targeting with the gospel, Christians should try to understand who we are trying to reach. When we understand our audience, we can apply the gospel to their lives in an effective way and we can show them why it matters to them. The gospel is a message that everyone needs, and it is our job to help people see that need. By applying the three simple words: look, listen, and love, we become more effective evangelists.

A Story Worth Sharing: The Unknown God RevealedScripture: Acts 17:16–34This week at Central, we began a new worship series, A Story Worth Sharing. Pastor Sarah reflected on Paul's visit to Athens, where the city was filled with shrines, altars, and philosophies — including one altar marked “to an unknown god.” Rather than debate or condemn, Paul began with the Athenians' spiritual hunger. He connected their searching to the God already at work in their lives, the God revealed fully in Jesus Christ.This is the Methodist story of prevenient grace: God's love goes before us, stirring in our lives even before we recognize it. Like the Athenians, we may have “altars to an unknown god” — seasons or moments when we longed for something more but didn't yet have the words or story to name it. Paul shows us that evangelism isn't argument but invitation, telling the story of God's grace in a way that meets people where they are.Each of us has a story worth sharing — a story that reveals God's presence and love in our lives. By telling those stories, we offer others not debate, but light.
In Acts 18, we see the Apostle Paul arrive in Corinth, partner with Priscilla and Aquila, and boldly proclaim the gospel despite opposition. God speaks to Paul in a vision, reminding him: “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking, for I am with you.”This chapter reminds us that God strengthens His people in times of weakness, raises up faithful partners in ministry, and advances the gospel even in difficult places.Main scripture: Acts 18:1-4, 7-8; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Psalm 23
Acts 17, Paul stands in the heart of Athens—surrounded by idols, philosophies, and endless searching—and proclaims the truth about the God they didn't even realize they were missing. In a culture filled with noise, distractions, and false promises, this same message is just as urgent for us today: The God you're looking for is not unknown. He has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ.Main scripture: Acts 17; 1 Corinthians 3:6-7; Ephesians 5:15-16; 2 Peter 2:1-3; Jeremiah 14:14

This week, Adnan (Mile End Service) teaches from Acts 17 – looking at Paul's time in Athens. We see what the story teaches about communicating the hope of Jesus in a spiritually contested city, and how the passage points to the reality of God's presence in making sense of our world, relationship with God making sense of us, and the resurrection making sense of our hope in Jesus.

Acts 17:16-34 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - To the unbelieving world, riddled with skepticism, anti-supernaturalism, rationalism, mysticism, and the vacuous despair each produces, Christianity offers the only message of hope. There is a God, who is both the creator of the universe and its sovereign ruler. Not only does he exist, but he is knowable and has revealed himself in his inspired and incarnate Word. Jesus came and lived a perfect life, he died a substitutionary death, and he victoriously rose from dead to offer life to all who believe. May we turn from the emptiness of idolatry and embrace new life found in the living and loving Savior, Jesus.
