Jesus's baptism shows us so clearly that as our Savior He identifies with sinners, even though He Himself was sinless. Just as the windows of heaven opened at Jesus' baptism, you also can expect the windows of heaven to open for you, and grace to come upon you to fulfill your godly purpose and destiny. This baptism is your “water tomb,” and you can have faith that your old self is being buried under the water and you are rising to a new life in God! It is beautiful that the first action in His earthly ministry was baptism, and His last thing of earthly ministry was to tell us go baptize others in His name! We have traditionally been taught that God created a perfect universe and a perfect world and then a great angel named Lucifer fell into sin and rebelled against God. And then Adam and Eve sinned because of Satan, and after that happened sin entered the world and God has been in the business of damage control ever since. God isn't in the business of damage control. God is sovereign over all things. Do you really think that it was an accident that this angel, so called Lucifer actually rebelled against God? Do you think it was an accident or misfortune that Adam and Eve fell into sin? Is that really what the scripture says or should we examine it and find out for sure? For more Free books, Sunday teachings and bible studies, or if you would like to make a love offering, please visit us at: https://www.walkinginpower.orgThis program references scripture:Isaiah 45:7Ecclesiastes 3Dr. Bern Zumpano is a Pastor and Teacher of the Word of God who has authored several books on Spirit-filled living through relationship with Jesus Christ and walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Bern has not only been a born-again believer for nearly the past 40 years, but also dedicated 31 years of his life to the study and clinical practice of medicine and surgery in the fields of psychiatry and brain surgery. He has held medical school professorships in psychiatry and neurosurgery and worked in private practice in both areas. Bern has an immense background in understanding the physical body, as well as the soul - the mind, will, and emotions - not only from a medical standpoint but also from a spiritual standpoint. With his background and training, he has been led by the Holy Spirit to teach "the Deep Things of God" (1 Cor. 2:10) with an emphasis on Spiritual Warfare (Jer. 51:20), Breaking Generations' Curses (Ex. 20:5; Lev. 26:40-44), walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit (John 14:12; 1 Cor. 4:20; Luke 17:21) and "the Restoration of All Things" (Acts 3:21). We at Word of Faith Ministries International-Miami hope and pray that these teachings of the Holy Spirit through Bern will edify and regenerate your spirit to gain a deeper understanding of God's Word and His truths so you can have a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him. May God bless you all!!

Do believers need to die to self?

Some say believers need to “die to self.” However, the phrase “die to self” does not appear anywhere in the New Testament. Instead, Scripture teaches that our old self has already died – past tense – and we have been raised with Christ as new selves in Him (Romans 6:6; Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:1). Think about it: You don't need to “die to self” if you're the new self!

The Way to Win | May 12, 2024 Pastor Wes Morris Mark 8:31-35 (GNT) Then Jesus began to teach his disciples: “The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will rise to life.” He made this very clear to them. So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But Jesus turned around, looked at his disciples, and rebuked Peter. “Get away from me, Satan,” he said. “Your thoughts don't come from God but from human nature!”Then Jesus called the crowd and his disciples to him. “If any of you want to come with me,” he told them, “you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me. For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it; but if you lose your life for me and for the gospel, you will save it. ✓  Pleasing PeopleGalatians 1:10 (CEV) I am not trying to please people. I want to please God. Do you think I am trying to please people? If I were doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ. ✓  Pursuing PleasureProverbs 21:17 (MSG) You're addicted to thrills? What an empty life! The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied.II Timothy 3:1-5 (ESV) But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. The Way to WinI. DIE TO SELF.Galatians 2:20 (NLT) My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.Romans 6:12-14 (GNT) Sin must no longer rule in your mortal bodies, so that you obey the desires of your natural self. Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin... Instead, give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes. II. FULLY SURRENDER TO GOD.Matthew 6:33 (NLT) Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.Ephesians 6:13 (NLT) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground...Mark 8:35 (GNT) “If any of you want to come with me,” he told them, “you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me. Starting scripture: Isaiah chapter 6 1. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3. And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" 4. And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5. So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." 6. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged." 8. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." 9. And He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.' 10. "Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed." 11. Then I said, "Lord, how long?" And He answered: "Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate, 12. "The LORD has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land. 13. "But yet a tenth will be in it, And will return and be for consuming, As a terebinth tree or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy seed shall be its stump." Additional scriptures 1. **John 3:30**: "He must increase, but I must decrease." 2. **Romans 8:9**: "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." 3. **Matthew 16:24**: "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'" 4. **John 12:25**: "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." 5. **Luke 14:33**: "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." 6. **Galatians 5:24**: "And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." 7. **Philippians 2:5-7**: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men." 8. **2 Peter 3:11-12**: "Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?" 9. **James 4:10**: "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up."

In this six-week sermon series, we delve into the profound theme of holiness. As followers of Christ, we are called to be set apart, to embody a holiness that reflects the character of God Himself. Holiness is not merely a set of rules or behaviors to adhere to; it is a transformative journey that leads us into a deeper relationship with God and shapes every aspect of our lives. Throughout this series, we will explore various aspects of holiness. As we journey through these messages, we will be challenged to examine our own lives and align them with God's call to holiness. It's a call that demands more than mere conformity to religious norms; it requires a heart transformation that flows from a deep love for God and a desire to reflect His glory to the world around us.

The concept of “dying to self” is a widely embraced belief in Christianity, suggesting an internal struggle between good and evil within believers. This teaching emphasizes the importance of eliminating the “negative” part of you that otherwise needs to be overcome daily. However, it's worth noting that the phrase “die to self” does not actually appear in the Bible. The closest resemblance can be found in Jesus' words, urging followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Nevertheless, this statement pertains to the call for salvation rather than providing instructions for daily living. (At salvation, you followed Jesus into death as your old self was crucified with Christ.)As a Christian, your old self has already perished, eliminating the need for further dying. God loves the new version of you and considers you to be remarkable! In this episode, I explain to a caller that what God desires from you is not self-denial, but rather embracing and expressing your true self. In short, don't deny yourself; be yourself!Enjoy this encouraging truth…We hope you enjoyed this episode. In surrendering to God, what seems like a Sacrifice is rather a blessing. We surrender our will to God, dying to self will, to be more fully alive both in this life, and in the life to come.

Learn how to give your life away like Christ and live in the profound freedom and joy of the Lord.  In this Easter podcast, Chaplain Father Jon Meyer and Lindy Wynne share personal stories about their experiences of dying to self and discovering the supernatural love of God. Father Jon explores his call into priesthood, while Lindy speaks of the ways she has been sharpened as a mother (Lindy is a mother through adoption and two of her children have special needs).  We are called to self-gift in both our Vocational calls, as well as little dyings to self in our daily lives. May we be emptied of ourselves so that God can fill us with just what we need to love beyond measure.

John tells us about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It's a biography of the most influential and important person who ever lived. And John wrote this not because he thought it was interesting. But because he believed that trusting in Jesus, that Jesus' offer to follow him in all that we do, was the most important invitation of all time. And that to miss out on that offer would be the most tragic, heartbreaking, but avoidable mistake any person could ever make. And this passage we just read is the warning. It's the thing we wish we had AFTER we make a mistake. But we have it now. On the cross, Jesus proves that whatever the cost may be for following him, his cost to find you was higher. Don't say no to him. Don't. Even if you are here and you don't yet know what to make of all of this. Don't close yourself to it. Don't walk away. Don't say no to the one who does not say no to you.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49014829 Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new23.01.22
