Today, we’re talking about one of Bedros’ lower points in life when he was experiencing panic attacks as the result of a failing business. He talks about how he navigated through that process bit by bit and discovered a strategy and mindset that kicked himself into gear – he made the choice to Man Up! Bedros committed to go all in – in all areas of life – in order to fulfill his purpose. Tune in to hear about some of the steps he took that led him to this discovery, or better yet, grab his book and read about them all! Question Highlights: What is your favorite quote? What is one of your superpowers? What is one thing you’re challenged by? What is one of your favorite accomplishments? Who is one person who’s changed your life? Can you tell us about your panic attack at age 38? How did you turn your lowest of lows around? What moves are you going to make to reach your goal of 34 franchises a month? What has changed since your panic attack? Are you getting any backlash around your book title and what do you say to those people who say this title isn’t for them? What is your secondary and equally important message in your book that you’re treat to get across? Why are you not afraid to be unapologetic about who you are and what your message is? What is the one generous thing coming up yet this year that you’re excited about? Quotes "Circumstance does not change responsibility.” “Sometimes instead of building talent, you recruit talent, and that collapses time and allows you to get speed and results in a shorter time.” “Control what you can control and cope with what you can’t.” “When you’re suffering in silence, your family is suffering out loud.” “Man up! Stop making excuses, take control of your situation and rise to your potential.” “The only time you have depression and anxiety is when you lack commitment and fulfillment from somewhere else.” Bedros Keuilian is a high performance coach, speaker, and business consultant. I hold today’s guest, Bedros Keuilian, in such a high regard and I can’t wait for you to hear his incredible journey thus far. Having immigrated to the U.S. with his family at the young age of 6 from Armenia (Soviet Union), he learned early on that sometimes getting uncomfortable or experiencing pain is necessary to step into better things. From living in a one-bedroom apartment with his family of five to dumpster diving, each family member contributed in some way so they could live a better life. But where many people would use the adversities he and his family faced as an excuse not to go after their dreams, Bedros made them his why and set out determined to help others. Today as an author, speaker and business consultant, Bedros is able to share his unique wisdom with people through his business Fit Body Bootcamp, speaking engagements and his upcoming new book, Man Up. He emphasizes that we are all much stronger than we think and it’s up to us to get resourceful and “man up,” and become the person you’re meant to be. This is an information-filled episode sure to inspire you to up-level your game and take action today! I can’t wait to hear your takeaways! -- Question Highlights: What has brought you to what you’re doing now? Hearing your dad’s why, did it fuel or shift your why? What do you think is the difference between you, who takes a problem and runs with it, and those who sit in it and see it as their reason why they can’t? What is something you ask yourself to get a new answer? Is there a problem you’re excited to tackle? Do you still have to seek resistance to get stronger or does your life offer you enough? For you as a business person, how did you train that muscle to run straight toward difficult conversations? What are some of your non-negotiables? What do you tell people who say, “I don’t know how” or “I can’t?” What do you think are the three biggest traits of a leader? Do you think it’s important to have a target number with your goals? In This Episode We Talk about: Embracing the pain Why breakthroughs come when it’s uncomfortable Why Bedros runs toward pain and challenges What it was like when Bedros’ family escaped Armenia/Soviet Union The adaptability of the human psyche Why Bedros is so passionate about helping children-based charities and causes The “immigrant edge” How Bedros made it easier to open Fit Body Bootcamp fitness franchises The importance of feedback in terms of growth Bedros’ non-negotiables Resourcefulness Bedros’ three biggest traits of a leader Riding the wave of fear Bedros’ million-dollar mistake And so much more… Quotes “The more adversities I face, the better my life becomes when I get to the other side of that adversity.” “If you have a reason why that’s big enough, when the pain and adversity comes, your reason why will pull you through.” “There are plenty of problems, you just have to be the solution.” “Any time there’s a big shift in your life, positive or negative, you’re going to have more problems. Who’s going to be the solution?” “It’s time to human up.” “Embrace the suck and grow.” -- Bedros Keuilian is a best-selling author, speaker, and business consultant. Discipline is often associated with all kinds of negativity. But, what if I were to tell you that healthy discipline was the key to creating the life of your dreams? Now, this isn’t just a hypothesis. I’ve got the proof to back it up. In fact, I’ve got the ultimate case study. My guest today is largely considered to be one of the most successful fitness entrepreneurs in the world. And he definitely didn’t have the odds in his favorite when he started out. Few stories fit “The American Dream” plot like that of Bedros Keuilian: After his father snuck his family out of Soviet-occupied Armenia, he and his brother would help their Dad scrounge for food by ‘dumpster diving’ for groceries behind Supermarkets. A self-proclaimed “HoneyBadger” who is not afraid to out hustle his competition, Bedros’ work ethic is still overshadowed by his warmth and desire to teach and inspire others to find financial freedom and stay fit. A true Rags to Riches story. ## Hear how Bedros’ father, a tailor, outmaneuvered the KGB to sneak out of the Soviet Union. ## It all started with a girl… and a prom... ## Bedros opens up about the near-collapse of his business and why there are websites devoted to calling him a Ripoff. ## Why Bedros’ first client called him an “order taker” before mentoring him in sales and entrepreneurship. ## Learning how to delegate so that your vision can be carried out with the help of others. ## How to hire the right people and build a sales-force of like-minded, inspired individuals. ## Why there is no substitute for being told “No” when it comes to learning. ## Bedros’ theory on going from Crop Duster (dabbling) to a Fighter Jet (being the best of the best), and how he built his multi-million dollar companies.
Do you feel like your innovative business isn't getting the attention it should? My guest today had to work hard for many years to find the perfect balance of work, innovation and humility to achieve what he always knew he wanted. Bedros Keuilian is the founder and CEO of Fit Body Boot Camp, which struggled to gain traction before it took off. But things weren't always so great for him. Growing up in California as the youngest member of a poor Armenian immigrant family, Bedros helped his family survive by dumpster diving at age 6. At 17, Bedros realized he was unhappy with his body and self-image. So he decided to work hard and eat right to change that. When he succeeded, he decided he would spend his life helping others realize the same kind of transformation. He went from working in a big box gym to starting his own chain of gyms that a larger fitness chain eventually purchased from him. That's when he moved into the internet age. But it wasn't easy, and he soon owed $120,000 to a mentor who had helped him get off the ground. Seeing that Bedros was struggling, the mentor offered to buy the struggling company by forgiving his debt and hiring him as an employee for $10,000 per month. Security in one direction. Limitless possibility the other. Bedros ran away from the “opportunity” that would have shackled his potential. He now makes about four times what his mentor once offered him. If you're facing a crossroads in your life, this story could improve the direction you take. If you want to learn how to manage work stress, family life and self-confidence, Bedros has meaningful advice for you. And if you feel like you innovate ahead of the curve, Bedros and his story will speak to you. “How a dumpster diving immigrant became a high-powered CEO.” Listen to this episode to hear from fitness guru Bedros Keuilian about his journey from “dumpster diving to riches” and much more: The secret to an extraordinary life. How much it costs to illegally cross into Italy from Armenia. How 10 minutes of sincere self-conversation quadrupled Bedros's take-home. Why Bedros regrets not joining the military as an immigrant. Switching to ‘belly-up' mode when at home with the family. How to sell what you love to others. How routines ensure quality time with family. How to innovate without going overboard. The best kept secret to true happiness. (Hint: It's the simple things.) Books and resources mentioned in this episode: "Man Up," by Bedros Keuilian coming August 2018 Elon Musk's documentary
Creating happiness in our lives, especially in this fast-paced modern industrialized world, can be a challenge. Today on the podcast we're both honored and excited to share with you one of the most inspirational men in the health and fitness world, Bedros Keuilian, to share with us his incredible story and leadership insight garnered from over two decades where he cerated what he calls "The Immigrant Edge & The American Dream," built on the four pillars of happiness that Bedros has learned apply to all of us: Money, meaning, health, and relationships, and the balance of all four is what truly creates a life of abundance and wellness that we all deserve, but getting there and working to maintain, is not a linear process for us, and definitely was not for Bedros. JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP | REVIEW THIS PODCAST As you'll discover in this powerful conversation, where Bedros not only shares with us vulnerably, authentically, and powerfully about what he's overcome in life to create a global fitness empire, but how we can connect the dots and shine light on the contrast in our universal human journey. (that we all walk on this wellness path) That is, how to overcome obstacles, and the mindset and ways of being we all can apply no matter what our past, because the story ahead of us is the one we write with the pen in our hand in this moment, right here, right now. If you're open to inspiration, this episode is going to deliver on how we can become more emotionally resilient and apply these four fundamental pillars of happiness in our lives, no matter what the current reality. Happiness, The Immigrant Edge, and the American Dream Anger, guilt, confusion, and shame. These were all emotions that Bedros Keuilian felt as he worked with his therapist to reconnect with the little boy he once was in Armenia during the Soviet Union era. When Bedros was able to check in with himself and his subconscious thoughts, he discovered that his Immigrant Edge, American Dream, and self-belief are his tools to use for success, confidence, and happiness. How can we let go of the past in order to regain happiness, inner strength, and self-fulfillment? When we don't push forward in our lives, we may be pulled back into feeling negative emotions such as frustration, depression, and anxiety. On today's episode of Wellness Force Radio, one of the fitness industry's most trusted consultant as well as both the Founder and CEO of Fit Body Boot Camp and creator of the Fitness Business Summit, Bedros Keuilian, shares with us how we become emotionally resilient, discover adversity, and live the life that we want through The 4 Pillars of Happiness and HALT: The 4 Pillars of Happiness: Money Meaning Health Relationships Beat anxiety with HALT: Hungry Angry Lonely Tired When you stop feelings of hunger, anger, loneliness, and being tired, you can also beat anxiety in its tracks. This episode is a wonderful reminder that without the knowledge of self, we can't have money, meaning, health, or relationships. How Bedros' therapist was able to help him beat his anxiety with HALT. The importance of dominating your life path and future by having closure with your past. Why pushing forward and being productive helps us to be happy. Why you "can't cut your family, but you can edit your relationship with them" and what it looks like. Berdos' advice on why you don't have to talk about your next career, project, or goal with your family when you visit with them. How we can let go from people who trigger our negative emotions? How can we keep calm and move forward with what we want to do with our lives? Top 3 Takeaways From The Show When you want to start a new project, a career, or make a major life change, there will be people out there you will tell you that you can't do it or it's not a good idea. A lot of times, those people are our families and they will go against our dreams because they don't want us to fail. However, if you have a goal that you want to accomplish, you're more likely to do it when you don't tell your family about it. Don't tell you family about your business because they will probably only have negative thoughts about it. Instead, talk to people who are going to get excited with you and are there to encourage your dream. When we are emotionally resilient and have experienced adversity, it is easier for us to let go from people and situations that trigger our negative emotions. Experiencing a difficult moment can help us keep calm and move forward with our lives. If you're feeling overwhelmed and stressed, it's okay to hit the pause button. Go ahead to cancel and schedule that meeting or task. If you want to succeed, put your self first and take care of yourself both emotionally and physically. Power Quotes From Bedros Keuilian [tweetthis] "If you grow your emotional and adversity quotient, you will be a well-rounded human that can deal with anything." - @BedrosKeuilian [/tweetthis] "The immigrant edge mentality is about getting resourceful when you don't have any resources. You realize that no matter how bad things get in the USA, they're still better than in any other place in the world." - Bedros Keuilian on how he gained the Immigrant Edge during his transition from Armenia to the USA. "Even if you have a job, go start a side project, be part of a charity, or do something like build a house in a third-world country with Habitat for Humanity. These experiences will give you the environmental exposure that allows you to build your emotional resiliency and adversity. If you can grow your emotional and adversity quotient, you will be a well-rounded human that can deal with any adversity or difficult factor when it comes. Not if it comes, but when it comes because stressful events are sure to come in anyone's life." - Bedros Keuilian on how to build emotional resiliency and adversity. "Adversity is an advantage and I started to re-frame my thinking about negative factors. Anything bad that happens is actually a learning lesson towards something better." - Bedros Keuilian on the power of adversity. "Enough is never enough. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing forever because I know that if I don't focus on dominating my path and my purpose, I will go deep into my darkness and the monster will come out. I will begin to think about what happened to me as a kid in Armenia." - Bedros Keuilian on the importance of doing what you love to do and how it helps to keep you moving forward. "When you are hungry, angry, lonely, or tired, it's so easy for your body to manifest anxiety and that's what happened to me. If I can stop myself from feeling those emotions, I can stop my anxiety in its tracks." - Bedros Keuilian on his therapist teaching him about HALT and how it helped him with his anxiety and negative emotions. "It's highly important to process the negativity in your life. Negativity thoughts are like a computer virus. They may go into isolation, but you can never completely kill a computer virus and there's new software to cover it up. The moment you stop updating your software, that virus might just come back out again. Stay on your path of domination and do good because the moment you don't, you can go inward into the darkness and try to find problems that we need to be"fixed" when in reality you're just delving into depression." -Bedros Keuilian on fighting negative thoughts and staying strong.
