Pittsburgh Penguins Opener: 7th Avenue Freeze-Out 10/03/25Today's episode kicks off with a special appearance by one of our favorite baristas at our partner, Espresso a Mano's Dormont café.After some armchair Penguins Hockey quarterback'ing by co-hosts - Jeff Taylor and Jordan DeFigio, opining is conducted as to which NHL hockey club various Marvel / DC superheroes and supervillains might support - if they were in fact …real. The problem of the Penguins' 2025-2026 likely netminding personnel is bemoaned, partly analyzed, though mostly complained about. Jeff and Jordan talk about a couple upcoming music performances and releases of their own, and the location of Madison Square Garden - the site of the Pittsburgh Penguins' season opener against the hosting NY Rangers - is clarified in spite of the much-used phrase, ‘On Broadway' when referring to the Rags' home rink.Special thanks to Espresso A Mano, Pittsburgh's finest coffee roasters and cafe, for partnering with Fly Penguins Fly podcast. Chaka Khan Photo: The Heart Truth - Chaka Khan in Chris MarchUsage: Wikipedia Public DomainPodcast Cover Art By: Gail NoblesStory by: Gail NoblesIntro by; Gail Nobles“Tell Me Something Good” is today's topic by the fabulous Chaka Khan! You know, when I first heard that iconic song, I was just a baby girl. The chorus grabbed everyone's attention and made everybody sing along! You could feel the vibe change when that part hit. Everybody would chime in, and it felt like a big ol' sing-along party! Back in those days, you didn't even need to know what Chaka Khan looked like; it was all about the music. My daddy had a stack of 45s, and we would just put them on the turntable, ready to groove. No fancy record covers mattered because all we wanted was to hear the song. We were thankful that we had the music. Now, I'll be honest, sometimes those words were hard to catch. Back then, you didn't have lyrics printed out or even closed captions on TV! We just listened, felt the music, and let it move us. “Tell Me Something Good,” released in 1974, became a massive hit on that AM radio we all loved. It was part of the album "Rags to Rufus," and that funky groove was crafted by none other than Stevie Wonder. You know, it was the first big hit for Rufus, and once Chaka's voice took center stage, they switched gears and became “Rufus featuring Chaka Khan” for their next album. That song climbed up the charts—hitting number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and even taking the top spot on the Cash Box Top 100 for a week! And let's not forget that funky guitar talk box by Tony Maiden—it was one of the early songs to use it, making it a true standout. So, whenever you hear that classic, just know it's a celebration of good vibes and great music, and it all started with a little way of asking, “Tell me something good!”I'm Gail Nobles. Thank you for listening to the Podcast AM Memories.Music commentary news.

And so, one of the ideas that's embedded in that, for me, is that when you're in this period of history, like we are now, with AI and with the digitization of everything and with the resurgence of a fascist movement, everything is up for grabs. You know, anything can happen, and that's the whole point really, that we have agency in this moment to affect what direction things are going to go in, as bricoleurs." --- Rags RosenbergA special interview episode with poet and performing songwriter Rags Rosenberg. Rags writes what he calls mythopoetic folk rock in the tradition of songwriter poets he admires: Leonard Cohen, Bob, Dylan, and Tom Waits. His latest album Song of the Bricoleur speaks about myth and our ongoing myth-making. What I know about Earth, Wind & FireI thought could be told in under a minute,But I was wrong. This group has countless accolades, awards, achievements….And then there's the “ME” relationship.I was introduced to Earth, Wind & Fire in 1975when I noticed the “That's The Way Of The World” albumresting against my old man's record player.Pop (my dad) didn't buy albums,he usually would buy “45's”…or singles—Some of you may not know what a “45” is,and because he was a working musician, pop only purchased music to learn the song.Pop was studying the entire album. That told me that there was something special about this group.Earth, Wind & Fire created “Grown Folks Music,”and in their “hey day,” that didn't work for me.But, it was great for everyone else. The Rags to Riches story of Maurice White and his band, originally named “The Salty Peppers,”came from humble beginnings. From Memphis to Chicago to California,The recruiting of brothers Verdine & Freddie,The alliance with Collaborator Charles Stepney,The addition of Al McKay, Larry Dunn who introduced Philip Bailey.Because of the practices of Maurice Whiteone by one, each walked away. Ending Maurice Whiteand Earth Wind & Fire's Hit Parade.Well, Philip Bailey returned, but not the hits. Before Maurice White diedHe built something great and easy to enjoy,And to learn more,Press play.
Today we begin a mini-series on "A Musical Theatre Podcast" that will explore "the American Dream." These are musicals you listeners have requested that all have one thing in common: "being an American is a beautifully complicated thing." First up is the 1987 musical RAGS created originally by three titans of the art form: Charles Strouse (BYE BYE BIRDIE, ANNIE), Stephen Schwartz (WICKED, PIPPIN), and Joseph Stein (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, ZORBA). Send me a Text Message! Most of us think of sin as the bad things we do, but it's also the good we fail to do. If you read this before you listen, we're focusing on James 4:17, but I'm going to take us in a little bit different direction. So before you listen, grab a rag, any kind of rag, just grab a rag. If you can't, then just imagine you have a rag in your hand.I want us to practice saying this, "We all have rags." Go ahead, say it now. "We all have rags. If you think about it, rags hold an interesting place in our lives...on the one hand they epitomize a lifestyle we seek to escape. We want to move from rags to riches. On the other hand, you may have grown up with a rag or two that at some point became very precious to you. What's that got to do with the good we fail to do?Well if you listen, you'll figure that out, beause we all got rags.

Join us this week for a brand new Ministry Minute entitled “Rags to Riches.” In today's episode, we explore the transformative power of God, examining how He can turn even the most challenging situations around, even when they seem hopeless. We draw inspiration from the story of Jehoiachin in Jeremiah 52, illustrating how someone could swiftly transition from imprisonment to the king's court. This inspires us to place our trust in God, as Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for our good. ✝️

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.David Guzik wrote:"Love prepares a welcome. With love, expectant parents prepare a room for the baby. With love, the hostess prepares for her guests. Jesus prepares a place for His people because He loves them and is confident of their arrival."Mercy softens the rough edges of life and reminds us of Whom we have now— and of the place being prepared for us.In this episode, we'll look at how a pile of bricks in a pool, old rags and worn-out clothes, and a screen door that no longer falls off all pointed me back to the mercy of God.If you would like to support this podcast with a monthly or one-time donation, thank you!https://www.sherriyoungward.com/supportTo find out about upcoming gatherings and new projects, please join my email list at www.sherriyoungward.com

Bria Salmena is a Canadian musician who originally rose to prominence as the frontwoman of the post-punk band FRIGS before joining Orville Peck's touring band. Now, she's released her debut solo album, “Big Dog.” One of its most powerful tracks, “Rags,” is a raw anthem about rage, shame and shedding the need to accommodate others. Bria joins guest host Talia Schlanger to talk about the track and how it helped her reclaim her voice after moving to Los Angeles — a city that made her feel like she was in high school again.
➡ Get full visibility, risk insights, red teaming, and governance for your AI models, AI agents, RAGs, and more—so you can securely deploy AI powered applications with ul.live/mend In this episode, I speak with Bar-El Tayouri, Head of AI Security at Mend.io, about the rapidly evolving landscape of application and AI security—especially as multi-agent systems and fuzzy interfaces redefine the attack surface. We talk about: • Modern AppSec Meets AI Agents How traditional AppSec falls short when it comes to AI-era components like agents, MCP servers, system prompts, and model artifacts—and why security now depends on mapping, monitoring, and understanding this entire stack. • Threat Discovery, Simulation, and Mitigation How Mend’s AI security suite identifies unknown AI usage across an org, simulates dynamic attacks (like prompt injection via PDFs), and provides developers with precise, in-code guidance to reduce risk without slowing innovation. • Why We’re Rethinking Identity, Risk, and GovernanceWhy securing AI systems isn’t just about new threats—it’s about re-implementing old lessons: identity access, separation of duties, and system modeling. And why every CISO needs to integrate security into the dev workflow instead of relying on blunt-force blocking. God requires good works not as the ground of our justification (which is the righteousness of Christ alone), but as an evidence of it.

Nick goes topless and bounces off the wall, Steve gets sharked by a Great White, Rags discovers a dead body, Jane's Instagram Live audience gets more than they bargained for, Tyler sleeps through a car crashing through the house, and Brittany confronts a shitty hotel thief.Follow Armchair Expert on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts.
