Have you missed out on something because you were waiting for the perfect moment? This week's episode, I'm talking Jean Robert Reznik, former CEO of Accor, ClubMed and many other prolific businesses. This interview almost didn't see daylight because I'm on holiday and in my swimsuit and I thought it wasn't the “perfect moment”, even though Jean Robert insisted that it was. There's a great story behind how I got to interview a senior leader whilst I'm in my swimming costume and let's just say perfection was on holiday that day.
Last week I ran a small seminar with just over twenty women and I asked them 'Mr & Mrs' style questions about themselves, the questions were fairly basic and though some were deeper than others, the universal thing was that everybody struggled. We spend so much of our lives considering our thoughts on others, we rarely take a step back to consider who we are, what we want and what we need in the long term. Knowing this is the basis of any kind of leadership and/or success. This weeks podcast is interactive, I'm asking questions for you to answer, for yourself . So here's your chance, to spend thirty minutes on you. The key is to answer these quickly and if you don't know the answers straight away, then move on to the next question. Why is setting boundaries so guilt inducing? Last year I had over 100 1:1 conversations with clients and the one thing every single woman had in common, was some form of struggle with boundaries, professionally or personally . Too much? too little? and the myriad of questions in between.Towards the end of last year, I wrote an article for We Are The City on this very topic and though most of us have adjusted to living in the unknown, I thought bringing this topic back for the podcast, might make for a good reminder of the wonders of well defined boundaries.Let's connect:Website: www.theinfluentialme.comInstagram: @theinfluentialmeFacebook: @theinfluentialme
Paying attention pays...or does it?I'm no accountant but I do believe in making sure your numbers add up. We often say 'pay attention' and yet most of us find ourselves giving it away for free. This 'payment' is what keeps all of them alive and in business and the more 'payments' they can get from you, the better. Your attention is big business. In this week's edition of Becoming The Influential Me Podcast, I'm discussing one guaranteed way to get an ROI on your attention. Not sure what to read? If yes, does that mean this is a spectacular time to be a woman? In my podcast this week, I'm talking about just that.Let's connect:Website: www.theinfluentialme.comInstagram: @theinfluentialmeFacebook: @theinfluentialme
In the past few months, I've had at least five female senior leaders ask me the question, "What do you think is the greatest threat to our long term success?".The honest answer is I don't know, because I don't have a crystal ball...However, success leaves clues and many trends from 2020 show that the best guarantee for the success of an individual and/or an organisation is... ADAPTABILITY. So I'm talking about it. In this weeks' blog and podcast, I'm sharing why adaptability matters and six ways you can be more adaptable in order to safeguard your career in the long term.Let's connect:Website: www.theinfluentialme.comInstagram: @theinfluentialmeFacebook: @theinfluentialme

On Women Who Failed To Let Their Failures Define ThemWhen I think of Arianna Huffington, the very last thing I think of is failure. You?In her twenties Arianna wrote a book that was savaged by the art community and wrote another one that was rejected by publishers 36 times and almost bankrupted her in the process. In her thirties she endured a failed relationship which led her to move continents. In her forties her marriage broke down.In her fifties she ran for Governor of California and lost to Arnold Schwarzenegger. In her sixties …well …we've all read Thrive. What is truly remarkable about this woman is that she refused to let those failures define her, but instead used them as fuel.I was deathly afraid of failing and in truth I still am, but leaning into has taught me that no fear I have or failure I will experience is new, so I'm going into discovery mode…want to join?On the Becoming The Influential Me Podcast this week, we're launching a 5 Part Series On Women Who Failed To Let Their Failures Define Them. Have you ever started reading a book as one person and finished it as another? Well this is how I felt about Edith Eger's book 'The Choice'. This is the story of a woman who survived Auschwitz and spent the next 70+ years rediscovering herself and (most importantly) her power as a woman, mother and careerperson. When I think about the challenges 2020 has brought us, I honestly feel like this book was/is the antidote.
