A Q&A on Faith, Failure, Business, Networking, and Living on PurposeIn this episode of the Dunn On Purpose Podcast, I answered questions submitted by people in my Facebook network. The questions went a lot of different directions. Some were funny. Some were philosophical. Some were about business, money, mindset, roofing, networking, and project management. That is part of what made this one fun.I didn't prepare a perfectly polished keynote. I just sat down, answered the questions, and tried to share what I actually think based on what I have experienced so far.A few things I talked about in this episode:* Why I don't believe life is a simulation, but I do believe we were created by a Creator* How movement, fitness, and intentional inputs help me control my mind* Why my greatest accomplishment may simply be continuing to get back up after failure* The truth about my first $10,000 month and the fact that I have not had a $100,000 year yet* What I would do first if I moved to a new city and needed to build business from scratch* Why relationships are still one of the most important business development strategies* Whether paid ads work and why organic content can help you test what actually connects* What makes Project One Roofing different in a crowded roofing market* The most challenging part of project management* Why a quick phone call today can save hours, days, or headaches laterThe answer I probably enjoyed the most was the question about what I would do if I moved to a new city tomorrow and had to generate leads and sales.Because I've actually done that. When Chelsey and I moved to Longview, I had to learn the community. I had to figure out who the connectors were, where relationships were being built, and how to become an active participant instead of just another person trying to sell something. That led me into running groups, the Chamber, Leadership Longview, BNI, local business circles, and a deeper understanding of how community actually works. The more I reflected on it, the more I realized this:No matter what business you are in, you are in the relationship business. That does not mean you manipulate relationships for business. It means you build trust, show up consistently, serve people well, and become the kind of person others are comfortable connecting to opportunities. This episode is not me pretending to have everything figured out.It is more of a snapshot of where I am right now, what I've learned so far, and how I'm continuing to build a life and business on purpose.I hope something in this conversation encourages you, enriches your thinking, or empowers you to take your next step.Today is the day to live on purpose.— Aaron This is a public episode. Send us Fan MailWhat does it take to walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with real connections? In this episode of Navigating the Customer Experience, host Yanique Grant sits down with Alexandra Silva Labarr, internationally recognized speaker, author, and founder of Xandra Marketing and PR. Known as the Networking Queen, Alexandra brings over 25 years of experience in marketing, business development, and sales to a conversation that is practical, personal, and deeply inspiring.Alexandra's journey is one of remarkable resilience. After decades in corporate America, she bet on herself and launched her own marketing firm just before COVID hit, shutting down the in person networking she had built her reputation on. Instead of retreating, she pivoted, went digital, gave back to her community, and emerged stronger. Today, Xandra Marketing and PR helps businesses take full ownership of their marketing, from social media and branding to digital presence and messaging strategy. Her story starts at 13 years old, when she lost her mother. That experience taught her that finding the right people and leaning on them is not weakness, it is strategy. That understanding became the foundation for everything she has built since, including her Power of Networking Community, now with 15 chapters across South Florida. She is also the author of three books: The Power of Networking, Show Up Scared, and Show Up Scared: Teen Edition, which became an Amazon bestseller and has taken her into schools and universities across the country. In this episode Alexandra walks us through her Seven Essential C's of Networking and highlights the two people struggle with most: Courage and Common Ground. She explains why most people have courage and confidence backwards, and why showing up scared is the only real path to confidence. She also gets practical, giving you a step by step approach for exactly what to say at a networking event, how to approach a group already in conversation, how to introduce yourself without leading with a pitch, and how to craft a 30 second commercial built around the pain you solve.Alexandra also shares her thoughts on follow up, encouraging listeners to pick up the phone and let people hear their voice, because authenticity lives in your voice and people do business with people they can feel.Topics covered include the Seven C's of Networking, courage vs confidence, building common ground, crafting your 30 second commercial, follow up strategy, AI tools for entrepreneurs, and details on the Show Up Scared teen event at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove on June 23rd.Featured Resources:The Power of Networking by Alexandra Silva Labarr available on AmazonShow Up Scared by Alexandra Silva Labarr available on AmazonShow Up Scared: Teen Edition by Alexandra Silva Labarr available on AmazonHow to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie available on AmazonIt's Not Who You Know, It's Who Knows You available on AmazonBooks by John C. How Mario Brondani Built a 6.5M Network From Zero Connections

Absolute Business Mindset podcast

Most people spend years building a network. Mario Brondani built access to 6.5 million people by mastering one skill almost everyone overlooks. He arrived in Spain at 18 with no contacts, closed a £20,000 deal his first weekend, and went on to make 4,000 cold calls in under two months. What he learned about authentic connection, deal flow, and thinking 10 years ahead will change how you approach your own business growth. Key Takeaways 1. Close before you're ready — Mario closed a master franchise deal for the UK with a complete stranger on his very first expo weekend, proving action beats experience.2. Authenticity is your most underused sales asset — genuine interest in a prospect's business, not slick technique, is what earns trust and closes deals.3. Cold calling at volume builds skill faster than almost any training — 4,000 calls in two months created the communication confidence that shaped Mario's entire career.4. Apply the Blue Ocean Strategy principle to your own business — identify where your industry is heading in 10 years and start building for that future today.5. Super connectors are an untapped distribution channel — accessing even a handful of the right connectors can give you reach into networks of millions overnight.6. AI should be treated as an ally, not a threat — using it to compress research, sharpen answers, and move faster lets lean teams compete at a level previously impossible. Guest BioMario Brondani is an international business introducer and serial entrepreneur who has personally connected with 140 super connectors, giving him access to a network of over 6.5 million people. Originally from South Africa, he built his career across five European countries specialising in franchise expansion and high-value deal introductions. He is now based in Bratislava, where he is building a platform to help super connectors monetize their deal flow at scale. SPONSORCEOfriend.ai/offer Use code BGT10 for a month of free access. I first interviewed today's guest, Stephanie Bonte-Lebair back in Episode 025. The focus of that interview was about how she rebranded her voice studio to attract a more profitable niche, but in telling that story, Stephanie also talked about the role business networking played in the marketing of her business. She talked about it with such intentionality that I knew I wanted to learn more. So today we're talking about everything, from how to choose events to network at, how to prepare, how Stephanie makes the most of her time at an event, her follow-up routines, examples of weak and strong calls to action and more. Get your notepad ready because you'll want to take notes. If this topic of networking makes you uneasy, at least listen until you hear Stephanie's definition of business networking. A lot of us have probably had an experience with someone who was "networking" that was so obnoxious that we found the very concept repulsive. I think Stephanie's approach will be refreshingly different and one that most teachers can get excited about. People who are doing networking well are not obnoxious and you don't have to become obnoxious - in fact, please don't - to build your business through networking. When litigation work dried up, he leaned into his entrepreneurial side, leaving the firm to build Rochambeau, a fun, flexible, kid-proof eyewear brand that has expanded into kids' prescription eyewear, including a Blippi-branded line. He also recounts co-founding Detroit City Distillery with friends from law school. From there, Scott explains how his love of business building and community evolved into The Bermuda Club, a private-membership space in Carlsbad designed around his mantra “Work well, play well, be well.” The club combines:Coworking: Coffee-shop-style open workspaces, private offices, and phone boothsWellness: Gym, custom sauna, cold plunges, and on-site trainers and wellness partnersSocial & Play: Four Full Swing golf simulators, putting greens, events, and member-driven clubsScott and Bret highlight the organic community that has formed within the club—businesses like Low Notes canned wine operating from the space, the Triangle Traders investment club, a member-barber offering on-site cuts, and educational talks from local experts like MedHero. They also discuss:The club's membership cap of 200 and its near-full statusUnique corporate and private events, including simulator golf scrambles and holiday partiesStrong partnerships with Carlsbad's golf ecosystem (Full Swing, Callaway, TravisMathew, up-and-coming putter brands)Plans to expand Bermuda Club locations into Sorrento Valley/Del Mar, Rancho Bernardo, and Costa Mesa, powered in part by member investorsIf you're curious about where high-energy coworking, wellness, golf, and community intersect in North County San Diego, this conversation is a must-listen.Quotes“Our slogan is ‘Work well, play well, be well'—that's The Bermuda Club in a nutshell.”“We thought the golf simulators would be the star, but they turned out to be the bonus. The real magic is the people.”“We've already had multiple businesses start from people who met at the club—that's the power of community.”“Some members come for the golf, some for the gym, but most stay because they've found their people.”“If you'd told me a year ago we'd already be raising money for three more clubs, I'd have thought you were nuts.” Did this episode have a special impact on you? In this episode, I interview Ruthann Anderson, CEO of CAPCA (California Association of Pest Control Advisors). Ruthann explains that CAPCA represents licensed PCAs (Pest Control Advisors) who she describes as “plant doctors,” often recommending non-chemical solutions such as irrigation changes, soil sampling, and nutrition adjustments before turning to pesticides. They advise across agriculture, turf, ornamental, and urban environments, and CAPCA focuses on statewide education and advocacy to support the profession. She discusses challenges like public perception and inconsistent enforcement in the past. A major example is the BeeWhere program, which CAPCA helped modernize to improve communication between beekeepers and pesticide applicators to reduce bee losses, showing how collaboration across groups leads to better outcomes. We also discuss the complexity of pest management, including public health issues like rat infestations, and the misconception that agriculture uses chemicals carelessly. Ruthann mentions grant-funded work documenting over 200 examples of PCAs choosing non-chemical approaches, which CAPCA plans to publish. We also dive into United Ag's mission to transform healthcare in agriculture: simplifying access, reducing costs, and putting empathy first with zero-copay clinics in rural communities. Ruthann highlights how thoughtful decisions, whether in farming or healthcare, lead to better outcomes, and she shares how CAPCA members can leverage United Ag's network for reliable health coverage.CAPCA: https://capca.com/Kirti Mutatkar, President and CEO of UnitedAg. Reach me at kmutatkar@unitedag.org, www.linkedin.com/in/kirtimutatkarUnitedAg website - www.unitedag.orgUnitedAg Health and Wellness Centers - https://www.unitedag.org/health-benefits/united-agricultural-benefit-trust/health-centers/Episode Contributors - Ruthann Anderson, Kirti Mutatkar, Dave Visaya, Rhianna MaciasThe episode is also sponsored by Brent Eastman Insurance Services Inc. - https://brenteastman.comBlue Shield of California - https://www.blueshieldca.comElite Medical - https://www.elitecorpmed.comGallagher - https://www.ajg.com/SAIN Medical https://sainmedical.com/MDI Network - https://www.mdinetworx.com/about-us

Ever catch yourself in a room full of people but feeling like you're not really connecting?Like you're shaking hands, swapping business cards, maybe even following each other on Instagram, but it's all surface-level?In this episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast, I'm diving deep into the network effect—how to build relationships that matter and create real momentum in your life and business. This isn't about being a “networking guru” or collecting the most LinkedIn connections. It's about genuine, value-driven connections that lift you and open doors you didn't even know existed. Over the years, I've been blessed to build friendships with eight-figure entrepreneurs, pro athletes, celebrities, and industry leaders—not by chasing them down, but by showing up authentically, serving first, and playing the long game. And that's exactly what I'm sharing in this episode: the mindset, the framework, and the ninja hacks to level up your network without feeling fake or forced. One of the biggest lessons? Your network is like a bank account—you've gotta make consistent deposits before you can ever make a withdrawal. That means finding ways to add value first, whether it's solving a small problem, sending a thoughtful gift, or making an introduction that could be a game-changer for someone else. Relationships thrive when they're rooted in genuine care, not just what you can get out of them.Another big takeaway is the importance of engaging with intention. Don't be that spammy DM person or the fan who only asks for favors. Start small—comment on their posts, share their work, send a short video or audio message. These personal touches break through the noise and show that you're a real human, not just another contact request.I also share why you should connect like-minded people in your network, even when it doesn't directly benefit you. Some of my strongest relationships were built on simply being the bridge between two people who could help each other. The value you create in those moments always comes back around. And here's a hack you can start using today: stop sleeping on new connections. There's a short window after you meet someone where the relationship is most likely to stick. Snap a photo together, text it to them right away, and set a next step—coffee, a Zoom chat, whatever keeps the momentum going. If you've ever felt like networking was awkward, inauthentic, or just not your thing, this episode will flip that script. It's not about working the room—it's about working on the relationships that will grow with you over time.So if you're ready to turn casual contacts into powerful partnerships, tune in now. In this episode of Grow a Small Business, host Troy Trewin interviews Scott Cundill, founder of My Most Trusted, a platform that overlays LinkedIn and Zoom to build genuine, trust-based business connections. Scott shares how he grew the business to around $1M AUD annual revenue (equivalent), scaling at 20-30% per year while staying fully bootstrapped. He dives into the power of his 100-100 network strategy, explains how a pilot with BNI Philippines became a turning point for their white-label model, and talks about why he's passionate about creating ethical, human-to-human networking over spammy automation. Scott also reveals how free diving in Okinawa keeps him grounded as he continues to grow his business. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? According to Scott Cundill, the hardest thing in growing a small business is getting enough revenue to keep going, especially to consistently cover staff and operational costs. He also pointed out how tough it can be managing team dynamics — making sure you have the right people who can adapt as the business changes. For him, if you can secure steady revenue and build a team that evolves with you, you're already overcoming the biggest hurdles. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Scott Cundill didn't name a single favorite business book, but said he's most helped by books and resources about understanding different personality types — like those based on DISC, Myers-Briggs, and the Enneagram. For Scott, learning how to quickly read people and spot hidden agendas has been one of the most valuable skills in business. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Scott Cundill didn't specifically recommend any podcasts or typical online learning resources. Instead, he highlighted that he finds the most value in tools and materials that help understand personality types, like DISC, Myers-Briggs, and the Enneagram. These have helped him navigate human behavior in business far more than traditional professional development content. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Scott Cundill's top recommendation is his own tool, My Most Trusted. He firmly believes in using it (or at least building the same concept) to create a 100-100 network — that's 100 people you deeply know, like, and trust, each with their own 100 trusted connections, opening up 10,000 warm opportunities. For Scott, this is hands down the best way to grow a small business. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Scott Cundill's advice to his younger self on day one would be: “Build your network early and keep nurturing it.” He emphasized that the contacts and friendships you make at the start often become your strongest allies and best business opportunities down the road — just like an alumni network you create for yourself.
