Today's Headlines: The first 2026 primaries are done. In North Carolina, Democrat Roy Cooper and Republican Michael Whatley advanced to face off for retiring Sen. Thom Tillis' seat. In Arkansas, Sen. Tom Cotton cruised to renomination, while Democrat Hallie Shoffner won with 77%. Texas was a little more dramatic. After historic turnout, a Dallas judge extended voting hours over polling confusion. Attorney General Ken Paxton — who's on the ballot — asked the Texas Supreme Court to block it, and the court agreed. Paxton now heads to a GOP runoff with Sen. John Cornyn after neither hit 50%. Abroad, the Iran war intensified after drones struck the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh. President Donald Trump said Iran's air defenses were “knocked out” and promised “big-scale” strikes. Sen. Richard Blumenthal warned of possible “boots on the ground.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested U.S. strikes were preemptive ahead of Israeli action — then tried to walk that back. Israel also hit a meeting of Iran's Council of Experts during its Supreme Leader selection. Stateside, reports say some commanders framed the war to troops as “God's divine plan.” FBI Director Kash Patel fired counterintelligence officials who had worked Trump-related cases, including Iran matters, and now faces whistleblower claims over handling of an ICE shooting investigation. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem endured a bruising hearing, with Sen. Tillis suggesting she resign. House Oversight is expanding its Epstein probe to include Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and former Goldman Sachs counsel Kathy Ruemmler. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to expand France's nuclear arsenal, and Melania Trump chaired a UN Security Council meeting during the U.S. presidency rotation. Russia is responsible for the largest “systematic child abduction operation” since World War II, according to European Union Ambassador to the U.S. Jovita Neliupšienė.   “This is actually a civilization erasure, when you actually try to destroy the future of your neighboring country,” Neliupšienė says.   It is estimated that more than 20,000 children have been abducted from Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion four years ago, according to the ambassador. Some of the older children who were taken are now being trained to fight for the Russian army, she explains on this week's edition of “Problematic Women.”   “They will try to start to train them as little soldiers, in a way, to go through the brainwashing,” she said.  A newly released batch of Department of Justice records from its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein includes an alleged 2002 email exchange between his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell and Melania Trump. The documents, made public as part of a broader disclosure ordered by Congress, show personal but limited correspondence from years before Melania married President Donald Trump. According to the records, Melania wrote to Maxwell on October 23, 2002, referencing a New York magazine story about Epstein and discussing possible travel. Epstein, a disgraced financier and registered predator, died at 66 in August 2019 while being held at New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center awaiting trial on federal trafficking charges. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department is releasing more than 3 million pages of records, along with more than 2,000 videos and roughly 180,000 images. The disclosure followed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed by Trump in 2025, which compelled the DOJ to make its investigative records public. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, First Lady Melania Trump calls in to explain how she successfully facilitated the return of Russian and Ukrainian children to their families after they were separated because of the war. Afterward, the Democrats in the House voted against funding key components of the Department of Homeland Security, including FEMA, TSA, the Secret Service, and others, while ICE funding continues through 2027.  Democrats are pushing demands that would severely hamper ICE's ability to identify, apprehend, detain, and deport illegal aliens, while granting increased protections to them. Democrats will orchestrate a propaganda campaign, with media assistance, to blame Republicans for resulting inconveniences to air travelers and disaster victims when they shut down the government. Later, several members of Congress, including Senator Mark Kelly released a video urging military personnel and intelligence community members to defy or turn against the commander-in-chief without justification.  Secretary of War Pete Hegseth took action against Kelly arguing that allowing such actions to go unchecked erodes military discipline and standards. But federal judge Richard Leon for issuing a ruling that blocked the Pentagon's attempt to strip Kelly of his rank and pension, calling the decision contemptible, stupid, and an overreach. Today's Headlines: This weekend was a lot. The Tulsi Gabbard saga also deepened, with new reporting revealing that she allegedly blocked the NSA from circulating a report about a suspicious phone call involving someone tied to foreign intelligence and a person close to Trump — a move that ultimately triggered the whistleblower complaint now under scrutiny. Meanwhile, fallout from the Epstein files continued, with multiple high-profile figures in the U.S. and Europe facing investigations, resignations, or calls to step aside. European governments in particular have moved quickly, launching probes into Epstein's ties to human trafficking, Russian intelligence, and elite institutions — while U.S. consequences remain scarce.
