King David was the most powerful man on earth, as king of Israel. He certainly would have reason to have pride, but he learned that there is a God, and it's not him. We can either believe we are the problem solver, and carry all of our burdens, or glorify God as the problem solver and watch our burdens be transferred to Him. Every last one of us can both be an encouragement to others and need to be encouraged by others. We must be actively looking for people who may be getting "tired arms" in their pursuit of spreading truth and spreading the Gospel.
Paul encourages the people of God, the Ekklesia, to shine their light even though the destruction of Israel is coming very soon for them. Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD in a destruction that was only escaped by following the words of Christ and fleeing to the mountains. Paul is encouraging the readers to be steadfast in the love and dedication to the Lord, even if it meant dying for the cause of Christ. If they can do that, surely we can spread the Gospel at the grocery store!
Paul is expressing the importance for the followers of Christ to prefer others ahead of themselves. Jesus had this same way of thinking, and He also thought it wasn't robbery to be equal to God! If Jesus, who was God in the flesh, preferred the interest of others over His own, then who are we to be so selfish and think of ourselves ahead of others? Join Ken as he explores and considers this text written by the Apostle Paul. God bless you in your journey.
Do you find yourself affected by the bad attitudes of others and the way they treat you? This episode is for you! Paul is giving powerful counsel concerning the issue of having the same love and mind as those around us. It all comes down to your view of who God is and what Christ has done for you. Grab your Bible and Join Ken in this study in the great book of Philippians.
Paul delivers this letter about 10 years before the Roman Empire destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. Even though Philippi isn't in Israel, it was still under the rule of the Roman Empire, and not a very popular time to be a follower of Christ. Join Ken as he makes sense of this powerful letter and what it meant for the immediate audience and how to apply it for today.
Does your life cause others around you to boast in Christ? This would be an admirable goal for us to all share. In this episode, Ken talks the lister through this incredible portion of Scripture, which will leave one challenged and encouraged. Paul makes the assertion that his life is valuable to others when it is lived for Christ...open your Bible and follow along!
So, what has your life made evident? That's the question this episode is asking. In other words, what do others know more about because of your life? This is a sobering question which should result in serious reflection. Paul was imprisoned in this letter, and although most say that's a terribly negative thing, he said that his dedication to Christ was made evident because of his arrest. His arrest also made others emboldened to share the gospel with others. Enjoy walking thought this fascinating book. God bless you as you learn of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Philippians 1:1-11. Paul is writing this incredible letter from prison, yet he writes to encourage others to serve the Lord! They key word of this book is "joy." As the followers of Christ serve Him alongside others, we will experience a much deeper bond with each other than we would if we did another activity together. Also, Paul focuses much on emotional well being, and how it is a result of submitting to the Lord God. God bless you as you study!
The seeds of depression take root in a life that stops communicating. Once the enemy gets you to believe that nobody gets you or that nobody understands what you're going through, he's got a great chance of destroying your joy. Here, James encourages the followers of Christ to reach out to God, whether things are going well or awful. Also, to communicate with others believers around you, whether it's because you're sick, not doing well spiritually, or to rejoice with them in their lives. God bless you while you listen and read along.
Have you ever considered that you and I waiting fo the return of Christ is much like a farmer waiting for the harvest to come? We have to trust the process and understand that pay off of the produce that will come when the harvest is coming. If these aren't kept in mind by the farmer often, or if he forgot why he was working so hard everyday, then he could never continue to put the effort into his daily tasks. God bless you as you listen to Bible Light!
This world teaches that wealth is equated with power. If we aren't very careful we can become thirsty for power and it believe that will be achieved through the mass accumulation of wealth. Now, this is not the same as saying that money is bad. In this episode Ken exposes that the Bible doesn't actually say, "Money is the root of all evil." Find out what our response should be to accumulating wealth and where we should place our trust.
It is so very easy in this life to become the focus of our own business. We may not plan for it to happen, but we push the Lord outside of our plans for success. This is no different than the plan that the enemy has for every other person on the planet! Satan desires for you to live a life without acknowledging the Lord and living for Him. Don't let the enemy beat you in this very subtle game he plays with your soul.
In this episode, James is trying to get the readers to understand that it is within our power to resist the influence of Satan in our lives. The Lord gives grace to the humble, and within that same thought, He has built a wall for the proud to not have access to them, He resist them. This is an individual responsibility. Your spiritual, emotional, and physical well being is up to you, and nobody else is to blame. God bless you on this difficult journey, we call life. Representing the Lord Jesus is a high calling and privilege. It's not something to be taken lightly, yet so many are quick to proclaim what God is saying in the word of God. James warns to not be so fast to call yourself a teacher, since their is a stricter judgment on those who teach the word of God. Follow along in our study!
In this episode Ken explains the relationship between authentic faith and its outward expression in works. Belief in God alone won't save you, and works can't impress the Lord. Calling on the name of the Lord in the sort of way that a man on death row would call on the governor for a pardon, is a call which expresses a need and trust that the one you're calling on has the power to change your situation. Grab your Bible and follow along!
Did you know that its not enough to just believe in God? The fallen angels (demons) believe there is only one God...and they do not follow Him not are they in a right relationship with him. Believing in God is a good start, but it needs to be accompanied with a life that follows Him. Authentic saving faith always includes some sort of proof on the outside. In this episode Ken describes the relationship between faith and works.
Being a follower of Christ involves action. A faith in Christ is an active faith. Jesus called us to be a follower, disciple, and witness. These are all measurable, you either are these or you're not. We are here to be the body of Christ and represent Him to this lost and dying world. In this passage James is reminding us that it's important to do more than just talk the talk, but to also walk the walk.
What is the Royal Law? Well, it is a law given only with the one person who has the royal authority to give it first of all, and that is Christ Himself. He tells us that this law is to love our neighbor as ourself. When we don't put people into categories to see who will love and who we will shun, we are then the most like Christ! There are many that say, "everything happens for a reason" while this may be true, the underlying saying is usually saying that God is orchestrating the bad things. The truth is, that God doesn't tempt us with evil. However, when evil and temptation comes our way, we can endure it and draw closer to God. There is a crown of life waiting for those who endure temptation.

Jesus wants you to go all in with Him. Don't hedge your bets with Him. He is not to be called upon as a token for good luck! He wants your whole heart and a relationship with you. James said that if you come to the Lord, and hedge your bets in case Jesus isn't powerful enough to hear you and help you, then you shouldn't expect anything from Him. Dive in head first with our Lord! James 1:6-8

But, maybe there's a better way to approach tough trials. If we pray for the Lord to strengthen us, then the trial will not seem as powerful.
