Our guest was Elisabeth Halfpapp from Exhale Spa. Did you know that her husband Fred DeVito was a distant relative of Danny DeVito from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Taxi? In fact Fred taught Danny’s kids how to swim. Elisabeth came on to talk about her new Core Fusion PowerSculpt Exercise dvd. This is the 9th exercise dvd in the Core Fusion series. This one features five 10 minute workouts that you do separately or together. This features a stronger yoga flow with weights plus a core workout, stretching and some cardio. Elsiabeth gave us some behind the scenes look at what it takes to produce an exercise dvd. Plus she shared some stories about her Thanksgiving in the Hamptons which was highlighted by a flag football game in which she competed against and talked smack with none other than Alec Baldwin.

We were happy to have on our good friend Denise Austin on again. She talked about her new exercise dvd titled Sculpt and Burn Body Blitz which Denise said was her toughest workout dvd ever. Denise also shared some nice stories about her fitness mentor Jack LaLanne, who sadly passed away earlier this year. She still stays in touch with Jack’s wife and spoke at the ceremony celebrating his life. Katie Scharf from the Strength in Moms blog joined us in the studio and it was fun to hear her suck up to Denise.
 Phil Southerland, founder of Team Type 1 also joined us in the studio.
We closed the show with Reggie Ramsey from Healthways.  Reggie will be one of Dr Fitness’ teammate when he does the Ragnar Relay next week in Tennessee. Healthways is a cool company that does lots of things in healthcare but they do the Well-Being Index with the Gallup Organization as well. Reggie shared some more tips about running the Ragnar and he explained how the race has helped his company stay compliant with exercise.
We opened the show with the legendary  Billy Blanks . Did you know he has sold over 100 million copies of his Tae Bo exercise dvds all over the world? Amazing. Billy has been in Japan for the last 3-4 years and he has developed a new program called PT 24/7. He saw the need for a stress relief program in Japan as they did not have the weight issues that we have here so he developed his program to help lower stress – but guess what you also get in great shape and lose weight as a bonus. He is going down to Tampa soon to try and break the World Record for most kickboxers in a class to help raise money for the National Autism Association

Our first guest was Dr Barbara Bushman the lead author of the ACSM’s Complete Guide To Fitness and Health. This book translates scientific fitness information into laymen’s terms. She explained the importance of exercise and gave great examples of specific ways exercise can improve your health and your life. This is a new resource from the American College of Sports Medicine that should be on your bookshelf.
We closed the show with registered nurse Candice Rosen whop wrote the book – The Pancreatic Oath. She explained the importance of checking your blood sugar levels in order to determine which foods you should avoid and which foods you should eat more of. In her opinion we are all pre-diabetic and we should treat ourselves as such.
