Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!A burning leg at night, a “herniated disc” on the MRI, and years of mixed messages—sound familiar? We unpack a real client story and show how to trade fear for a plan using assessment-first coaching, language that calms the system, and progressions that actually work.We start by debunking outdated ortho beliefs that frame backs as fragile and people as broken. Then we map a simple screening process to pinpoint intolerances—flexion, extension, rotation, lateral flexion, or compression—and use those findings to build a zero-discomfort movement menu. You'll hear why stretching into nerve symptoms often flares sciatica-like pain, when sciatic nerve glides help, and how to reframe “pain” as “discomfort” to reduce threat and increase buy-in.From there we get practical. Learn how to coach precise planks, side planks, and bridges; when to choose TRX rows over bent-over rows; how to modify pressing with landmine variations; and why bilateral pulling beats asymmetrical loading early on. We cover bracing and drawing-in cues, pacing volume to track responses, decompression options for compression-sensitive clients, and small lifestyle levers like sleep setup, hydration, and nutrition quality. We also explain imaging context, disc reabsorption, and the power of daily low back routines that rebuild trust. Finally, we share networking tactics to team up with pro-movement physios and chiros so your client always has a path forward. If you coach people with back issues—or you're working through them yourself—you'll leave with a step-by-step framework: listen, screen, find zero-discomfort ranges, progress deliberately, and keep the wins going for life. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review with your top takeaway so we can cover it next.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? In this episode, we explore one of the deepest desires of the human heart: the longing to live pain-free. But the truth is—pain is unavoidable. As human beings, we experience many layers of pain, and none of us are exempt. We talk about the different kinds of pain that show up in our everyday lives: Body pain from stress, exhaustion, or illness Emotional pain from heartbreak and disappointment Mental pain from overthinking, anxiety, and self-doubt Spiritual pain from feeling distant or disconnected from God Relationship pain from conflict, betrayal, unmet expectations, or misunderstanding Heavy baggage pain from old wounds, unresolved trauma, and past narratives we still carry Pain that feels like it has no purpose—the kind that confuses you, drains you, and makes you question why this is happening at all This episode reminds you: pain is not a sign of weakness—it's part of being human. But it's also an invitation. Pain asks for attention, healing, connection, and sometimes surrender. Whether you're holding onto old wounds, navigating a difficult relationship, or battling pain that makes no sense… this episode will help you breathe again. It will remind you that you don't have to search for a pain-free life—you can search for a faith-filled, supported, and purpose-shaped life instead. Because while pain is part of the human experience… healing is part of God's promise. Ready for more connection? In today's episode, we're talking with Kayleigh Johnson, mama to 14-month-old Amelia and wife to DJ. Kayleigh and her family live in Massachusetts, where they are planning for the birth of baby number two. Amelia was born in a hospital with an epidural and pitocin experience. To Kayleigh, the pitocin contractions felt very unnatural. They way she puts it, “it felt like it was happening to me.” So after some soul searching, they decided on a home birth for this pregnancy. A big influence? Podcasts and social media! Kayleigh got to see and connect with real people, real stories that seemed attainable and allowed her to see the experience for herself. Kayleigh's faith is integral in her life, and so it's been a part of her birth planning as well. She was able to find a Christian midwife who aligned with her belief system (she even found her midwife on social media! Thank you, technology!). This synergy has been important for the connection she's seeking with her birth team. Kayleigh also has visions she is praying for in her birth. She's believing for a pain-free, no tear, en caul birth. We're happy and honored to hold that intention for her. And we're very excited to share her story with you! Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!Want to run more without getting sidelined by cranky feet and tight calves? We walk through a real client scenario—a 20-year-old cardio diehard who stacked three five-mile runs onto a week of classes—and show how to turn enthusiasm into a durable plan. You'll hear the exact warm-ups, strength circuits, and weekly progressions we use to build mileage safely, fix plantar fasciitis flare-ups, and keep motivation high.We start with the biggest injury driver most runners ignore: sudden volume spikes. From there, we map a simple progression rule of thumb, then layer in intensity with controlled tempos once volume settles. The foundation is strength built around running's demands. Day one is hinge-focused with hip thrusts, chin-ups, and deep landmine calf raises. Day two is squat-focused with low-impact jumps, heels-elevated back squats, and core patterns that train adduction and extension. Day three turns unilateral and frontal-plane, using skater hops with stick landings, single-leg RDLs, and suitcase carries on toes to blend trunk stiffness and foot strength. Throughout, we target the plantar fascia, gastrocnemius, soleus, tibialis anterior, and peroneals so every step gets more stable. We also get practical about tools and coaching. Footwear rotation, soft tissue mobilization with a barbell or lacrosse ball, and isometrics to calm tendons when symptoms spike. For coaches and ambitious self-trainers, we dig into anatomy-driven programming, progressive overload, and the career skills that make plans stick: clear cues, on-the-fly adjustments, and confidence that comes from mastering the fundamentals. If you're chasing bigger miles, stronger glutes, and fewer setbacks, this is the blueprint to build resilient legs and a steady training rhythm.Enjoyed the conversation and want more like it? What happens when a traumatic first birth becomes the catalyst for two radically pain-free, God-filled home births? Today's episode is a powerful testimony of redemption, physiology, faith, and a mother reclaiming her God-given authority in birth. In this conversation, Karen sits down with Sara Gilboy, a mom of three from Toronto, Canada, who experienced a deeply traumatic first home birth during COVID-complete with medical coercion, fear, hemorrhage, separation from her baby, and months of postpartum anxiety and intrusive thoughts. But Sara refused to let that be the end of her story. She returned to birth armed with knowledge, prayer, physiological understanding, and a fierce sense of ownership that transformed her next two births into supernatural, pain-free, joy-filled experiences. Tune in to hear:How Sara's first home birth turned traumatic and why she “felt the fear through her uterus”The spiritual battle of intrusive thoughts and how she learned to take each one captiveWhy “knowledge is power” completely changed her second and third birthsHow she created two entirely pain-free births using physiology, relaxation, and faithWhat she told her midwives the second time that changed everything (“This is the birth I'm going to have…”)Her children worshipping and praying over her during laborThe moment her pelvic floor “parted like the Red Sea”How God replaced her disappointment with joy instantly during her third birthThe connection between birth trauma and postpartum mental healthWhy understanding your physiology is essential no matter where you give birthUse code PODCAST to get $50 off the Pain Free Birth E-course HERECONNECT WITH KAREN:Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/painfreebirth Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/painfreebirth/ Spotify Podcast - https://open.spotify.com/show/5zEiKMIHFewZeVdzfBSEMS Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/pain-free-birth/id1696179731Website - https://painfreebirth.com/

From the Bible Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well. Psalm 139:14 (HCSB) I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 (the verse J couldn't think of in the moment!) “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed." Joel 2:25–26 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. You ever notice how people just accept brain fog, low energy, and constant aches as “getting older”? I'm telling you, it doesn't have to be that way. I've watched folks in their 70s outpace people half their age because they figured out how to get their body working the way God designed it—sharp, strong, and ready to go. Stick with me, because what we're digging into today might just flip the script on how you think about the years ahead.
