Are you too hard on yourself? Do you create debilitating mental habits? Is success linked to happiness? If you said yes to any of these questions, then it’s time to shape pain into power and failure into a fortune. How? By being authentic, tapping into your vulnerabilities, and making big strides with small steps! Professionals are often misguided when it comes to the connection between success and happiness. Gi Gi O’Brien, CEO at Global Intelligence Initiative, author of The Self Quarantine Handbook, The Trauma Handbook, and The Intelligence of Happiness as well as the Founder of 111 Entertainment and Nathazelis, says that nothing should ever come at the expense of happiness. Not for your job, not for your clients, not anyone. Drawing from mental health struggles and her fusion of skills in journalism, business, and various sciences, Gi Gi thrives as a consultant, social entrepreneur, and visionary. In this episode of Lisa Buyer’s Social PR Secrets podcast, Gi Gi O’Brien discusses her new book, The Intelligence of Happiness: How to Thrive Using Authenticity, Self-Alignment, and Simple Neuropsychology, how to apply the five C’s to your personal and business life and the best ways to eliminate imposter syndrome. How the Worst Life Moments Became Gi Gi’s Biggest Assets While sitting in a hospital bed after a severe mental breakdown, Gi Gi transcended her suffering. She tapped into many years of emotional neglect and made the ultimate promise: to live a life of authenticity, ambition, and happiness. Years later, during the COVID-19 lockdown, similar darkness seeped into her space once more, where feelings of shame and pain served as catalysts to continue writing her book. The Intelligence of Happiness ensures a more abundant life. It opens doors to new opportunities, re-instills confidence, and unlocks brilliance. Gi Gi is an expert in turning pain into power. Her decades-long mental health and entrepreneurial journey have ultimately led to a deeper understanding of true happiness. And by applying the principles of neuropsychology to the art of authenticity as well as aligning your emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and behavior, you can master it, too. The Power of Networking Big breaks don’t magically fall into laps, no matter how hard we wish they did. Really, it takes a lot of persistence, networking, and authenticity to achieve any goal. Gi Gi says that connecting with others brings her the utmost joy. By joining Facebook groups, creating social media accounts, and putting yourself out there, you will establish genuine and substantial lifelong bonds. But it’s not just about gaining an endorsement. It’s about adding value to your life and theirs. If you look at the inside cover of her book, you’ll find incredible testimonials, including one from Nelson Mandel’s grandson. How did this happen? Through the power of confidence, influence, and passion. If you simply sit back, the greatest of opportunities will end up passing you by. And if you’re looking for motivation, reliance on o

In this podcast, Jason Warnke and Joe Cahill discuss the impact of digital experiences on technology-enabled transformation. Jason Warnke serves as Senior Managing Director for Global Digital Experiences at Accenture. Digital Experiences is located within Accenture's internal IT leadership team and is responsible for driving technology-enabled experience transformation.Jason leads off by sharing examples of how technology in our business lives has not kept pace with what we have experienced in our lives as consumers.  Many companies build their internal capabilities with a “technology first” mindset that can sometimes inhibit workflows, productivity and engagement that drive business performance.Shifting to a focus on employee experience looks at the impact of making it easier for employees to get things done in a digital way.  Jason shares examples related to reducing multiple applications, making the user experience more intuitive, building applications into the flow of work and other tips.  From a project delivery perspective, Jason discusses shifting from a requirements focus on what the employee believes is needed to truly understanding the intended outcomes the employee wants to enable, the service experience they expect, etc..  It is also about prioritizing capabilities so employees get the functionality that is most useful for them.Social networking and creating a “culture of cultures” is another area Jason explores.  In a highly distributed organization, organizations need to recognize that employees can build community in ways that are different from approaches that work in highly centralized environments.  In addition to work networks, organizations can help connect employees via social networks where they already engage, such as clubs for exercise enthusiasts, XBOX players, photographers, etc.  This approaches recognizes that it is as important to build connections around interpersonal engagement, with people outside of the core team and among team members around the globe.Discussing new ways of working, Jason concludes with a focus on how digital transformation is changing project work and creating opportunities for leaner workflows.

Big Stud Podcast- Episode 73  In this episode, Mike discusses how some business owners miss the power of social networking, and the importance of being active and engaging Personal development can have negative connotations, but without it can hold yourself back by not being the best version of yourself. Guest Luke Marcotte owner of Elektrk—an electrical contracting company our of Michigan discusses how he built his company at such young age. He started in 2014, obtained LLC in 2017. He began building out the company at age 16. He would ave around 25% of his paycheck to buy tools, so that he’d have the funds to create his business. He networked heavily to build out his client base; now he has 2 locations and 8 employees. He's looking to grow further by the end of the year. He attributes a lot of his growth to social media, and is always active and creating engaging content. Luke also belongs to several personal development groups; reads books and will spend around 6 figures on development this year.  His goal is to be a billion-dollar company with offices across the country. Some additional background to where Luke began: He learned from entrepreneurs in his life; his parents, and more solely, his friend's Dad. He mentored him and instilled work ethic at a young age, as well as the importance of learning a trade. Regarding his social media, he has focused more on his personal page to build trust, and grow outside of the electrical business. Closing thoughts and advice—if you’re not scared you’re not doing the right thing.  You have to take a step before you’re ready. If you don’t take action, the world can’t pay you back. There is more to life than just being comfortable. What should come first, Marketing or Proactive Lead Generation (aka Prospecting)? Daily success happens when you prioritize the actions that will generate the greatest results over those that won't. Put another way, are you going to PROACTIVELY generate leads and build your business or passively attempt to do the same? Its THE question every agent must answer for themselves. The simple fact is the most PROFITABLE real estate practices are based on proactive lead generation. Yet, so many agents never learn how to proactively lead generate. Worst yet, some believe your aim in business is to proactively lead generate (prospect) so that one day your centers of influence and past client list will be so large you wont have to be proactive anymore. That is just plain silly. That thinking is akin to thinking you can go to the gym for a year, build your body and then magically expect to keep that physical condition even after you stop working out. Makes no sense. Anyone successful at anything long term knows that they must always be proactive in their lead generation and overall approach to business (and life). Listen now. Get early access to our latest psychology lectures: http://bit.ly/new-talks Online social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can be seen as a virtual extension of our psychological and emotional selves. They also happen to be an essential technology that mediates our relationships in contemporary society. The architecture of different online social networking sites enable certain aspects of self-expression while inhibiting others. The consequence is that self-expression and online relationships are necessarily altered by what different online social networking sites can or cannot do. Drawing on insights from his book The Psychodynamics of Social Networking: connected-up instantaneous culture and the self, Dr. Balick will be exploring how online social networking mediates self-expression and interpersonal relationships today. This seminar is an application of contemporary relational psychoanalysis and other related disciplines to modern technology. In this model, online social networking is seen as a product and deployment, however, faulty, of the basic human unconscious motivation to relate to others. The way in which this motivation is mediated through these platforms has important consequences for individuals, relationships to others, and society as a whole. --- Aaron Balick, PhD is a psychotherapist, cultural theorist and author applying ideas from depth psychology to culture and technology. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department for Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex (UK). He is a founding member and former executive chair of The Relational School UK. His books include ‘The Psychodynamics of Social Networking: Connected-up Instantaneous Culture and the Self' and the illustrated children's self-help book: ‘Keep Your Cool: How to Deal with Life's Worries and Stress'. ‘The Little Book of Calm' was released in January of 2018.
