Welcome to the Danger zone. Moved to a lovely apartment - affordable and after a year waiting! It was filled with toxic chemicals from materials used to update it. Have you suffered from MCAS / chemical illness etc & had dream apace turn to a nightmare? had asked for existing carpets cleaned only using hot water and leave unit as is. flooring blinds carpet padding paint interior exterior were replaced. Sudden onset of chemical illness symptoms so extreme Opted to sleep in my car/ move to a hotel. This episode relays list of extensive and expensive actions taken so far in attempt to remediate. Nothing has created habitability yet and almost lost all hope- but we are continuing to escalate to more dramatic / potentially effective steps including a request for carpet removal per disability law. It has taken a team of support so far. This is to documebt and encourage others in health journey! A monumental step in fire recovery is longer-term more stable affordable safe functional sanitary -housing. An end to instability and limbo. An end to the un affordably. Finally. counting down days hours minutes to hold a door key to the next location. This is a longer-term affordable housing situation. How safe quiet & functional -remains to be seen- as we have not ever been to it. We have only received a move in date- no proof of acceptance move #27 in less than a year is hundreds of miles away. Well the plot thickens. Elon Musk wants to go to Mars and a major federal agency can't get me copies of my own agency file -in 4 months time ! How is it ok to essentially hold hostage my own fire relief aid progress in the time it takes for an area larger than the state of RI in OR and CA to burn? Somebody pls call Erin Brockovich ASAP! We must improve this bshit together and focus on aiding a brand new onslaught of disaster survivors.
Shelter is a basic human need. The need for housing post disaster —is not an optional one! Sustainable options for under resourced individual- while limited MUST be pursued. Housing is not a by-passable issue. In this process, despite tremendous hope and help and teams of professionals- I have encountered so many barriers so much stress and inefficiency -that the search for housing has become counter to act of moving forward and even interfering w my ability to maintain my health. creating an endless catch 22 cycle of exhaustion. At this point it is actually causing harm. My account of the difficulties of one single recent application attempt - is a direct appeal to every Senator, congressperson, constituent rep, district rep, legal aid worker, advocate, family member, or friend of survivors. How do we change bureaucracy that creates hardship and barriers to access of the very aid it purports to provide?
This episode: arduously inane and exhaustive paperwork shenanigans have been ongoing nonstop for 11 months post fore now Involving every state legislator Congress person district rep constituent rep Senator advocate and legal aid -that I can find-To aid my ongoing attempt to secure affordable housing post disaster while under resourced and disabled during a pandemic. At that point I had only seen pictures of ashes of my house - After evacuating twice, staying in a hotel and then camping i was relocating to a family friends home. unexpectedly took my old once favorite back country roads to get a visual sense of what happened. We're in the big city ! Hello PDX
A landmark day here by a river in Oregon! Stopping on the way to PD. felt smart. a way to recharge the batteries a few percentage above empty — before leaping into the big city and embarking on an entirely new housing situation. 8 months of daily chaos has physiologically physiologically bombarded me beyond recognition and so i am down shifting in a tent. Oddly it is the only day since evacuation that i mostly had coffee snd ate and fed the ravens and was not overwhelmed by stress /anxiety and did not have to push myself into ridiculous of exhaustion. hard to explain yet very important for all to understand- why after a disaster- humans ( especially with pain and disabilities ) need space to rest and heal. and how not getting this - has severe & lasting repercussions that cost us all more in the long run. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

One of my all-time favorite songs “take me to the river” here's the link it's uplifting it's hopeful -everything I ( and possibly others) need right now. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=maT4phfTXR4 Jordan Felix the river! There is a wrll crafted, plan established for recovery & stability. It's not happening today. It's in the works and advocates and myself are championing my cause with super human determinedness.. Everthing takes time and effort and a team of cooperation and ever increasing resources!!! hotel stay ending as ceiling dripping water from the unit above, no fix offered. not acceptable. Going upriver to camp until my advocates and I get me stably housed in a secure place with recources required to pursue needed medical treatment. Loss of connectivity and housing is the situation- so infrequent updates here till a future time!!! Amazing how disaster and reprocusions of that -combine w lack of resources, and inneficient aid processes to create complete destabilization, resulting in constantly spinning wheels and endless problems —thus a downward spiral despite best efforts to avoid or fix. This does not allow for or create solutions for humans, nor help them to achieve a functional norm. Stable safe sanitary WORKING housing and access to needed medical treatment is baseline requirment for post disaster. Survival and then recovery is paramount. Health / rest: recovery leads directly to wellness. Wellness creates ability to thrive. Thriving is generative -and everyone benifits . Next six months is crucial. Oh and in segment two we reroute about a dozen times because camping is illegal --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Lets hope w regained stability / reduced stress & exhaustion- some of these issues will fade. You are not alone in this wierdness. Continue to request what you need from others to really move forward and thrive. You are the ultimate authority of your life.
