In this episode, Emily shares some insights on how we can work through our challenging emotions so that we can approach the problems in our life from a grounded, logical place. When we do this, we don't fall into the trap of using toxic positivity to avoid unpleasant emotions, but we also don't allow our emotions to run the entire show. It's about finding that "sweet spot" - where we honor our emotional reality with self compassion and awareness so that we can start to see our lives with more clarity and therefore achieve higher emotional states.Download for free: Satisfy Your Hunger, Fuel Your Body: A Guide to Healthy Meal Making! https://emily-anne-morrow-coaching.ck.page/aab6af3ca4 Loved this podcast and want to show some support?Buy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/emilyannemorrowOther contact info:Work with Emily for 1:1 coaching: https://heal.me/practitioner/emily-morrow-certified-health-coachEmail: emilyannemorrow.unstarved@gmail.comInstagram: @emily.unstarved*Disclaimer: All information in this podcast is intended for general information purposes only, and is not to be interpreted as psychiatric or medical advice, or a replacement to psychiatric or medical care. This episode is for you if you often find yourself riddled with guilt and shame based on what you've eaten, or if you feel like you have a love/hate relationship with food. You love food, but you HATE how bad you feel when you think you've eaten the "wrong" thing. In this episode, Emily shares how she has transformed her relationship to food and overcome eating disorders by learning to fall in love with food - unconditionally and guilt free. Our diet obsessed culture has taught us that food is something to be feared and "figured out". That we are not to be trusted around food, and that food is something that we are meant to control at all costs so that we can chase arbitrary and ever-changing standards of beauty at the expense of our mental health, self esteem, and quality of life.  When we learn to appreciate food in its entirety for what it can provide us not just physically, but also emotionally and relationally, we discover that it's our very fear of food that keeps us stuck in the cycle of hyper-obsessive control followed by complete self abandonment. We learn that by allowing ourselves to appreciate food and the variety and novelty that it adds to our lives, we can harness it's power for what it's intended for - true nourishment on every level.Books mentioned*:Cooked, by Michael PollanThe Omnivores Dilemma, by Michael Pollan (These are afilliate links, by using them to purchase, I receive a small commission which helps to support this podcast at no additional cost to you.)Timestamps: 00:02:04 - Why do we need to fall in love with food?00:07:45 - Acknowledge the benefits of food (instead of just the liabilities)00:11:50 - Acknowledge our access to food as a privilege00:13:05 - How to become fascinated with food (seeing it as a creative outlet)00:16:13 - Share more foods with people you love00:17:44 - Address the guilt and shame you have around food00:19:43 - A note on emotional eating00:21:48 - Donate food to those in need00:22:33 - Connect with people who grow our food (learn about the food system)00:25:05 - Go deeper than your weight loss goalDownload for free: Satisfy Your Hunger, Fuel Your Body: A Guide to Healthy Meal Making! https://emily-anne-morrow-coaching.ck.page/aab6af3ca4Loved this podcast and want to show some support? NSFW I had a wonderful conversation with erotic romance writer Angelique Migliore about her three "City Nights" books for Tirgearr Publishing and her plans for her next series. Then we talked books and movies (I couldn't remember anything I've read in the last decade, and she was gracious and treated me like an intelligent person.)  We had such a great time, (and of course, I said many things I will regret.)
